What happens when the permafrost thaws? | The Royal Society
Around 11% of the Earth's land mass is covered by permafrost. But its delicate balance is being threatened by climate change. Made in partnership with @bbcideas

I would love for this speech to be given only 2 centuries ago 😂 he would be labeled clinically insane
I’m 47 and made so many selfish and stupid mistakes in my 20s and 30s. Not happening anymore. With emphasis on NOT!!!!!
People have two lives. The second life begins when they realize they only have one.😂
Journey to unknown, it must be amazing feeling to be involved with such a thing.
The problem is not that you are 40. The problem is that younger than you today think that you should be dead at 40. Because media today only recognizes age 20-25 to become rich/adult/mature etc. If you do not have a million dollars by age 25 you are a failure. So the media roday pictures it. That is the problem. And that problem was not adressed in this talk.
They were not black African but North African
Brain 🧠 food 🍱🤓
If your life starts at 40, you ARE a living failure
This is sooooo interesting. Thank you very much!
Fuck you mother fuckers are brainwashed
It wouldn't have been obvious at all. It's very impressive that scientists figured these things out eventually. It's a very interesting talk.
hugely interesting -- add edto my books-toreadlist. i wish folks would state the total years when they give a span of years; i.e., he was president of the royal society for 42 years, from 1778 to 1800. I can't listen and do arithmetic at the same time.i
Exciting stuff. I might've sounded sarcastic but I'm serious, this area of research has the potential to really benefit us and other Earth's inhabitants.
It's funny the narrator says men would be more likely to listen to her if she was a man, when in fact men are more likely to listen to female voices; women were widely used as radio operators in WWII because their higher-pitched voices were easier to pick out from loud engine noise in aeroplanes.

I got began my life at 40s and got bollocked by a neighbour playing a guitar and singing on a porch on a day off 😂
Aging is not only by body and mind, but also by history and culture value. Generated by historical changes, culture contents, social economic conditions and political contingency.
I believe life begins when you realize the reality of consciousness, when you start to realize how this reality works, when you start to realize that we as consciousness are co creating this reality in real time. There are in fact universal truths to this simulation. Realizing we are souls having a human experience is huge. Our bodies are a space suit that allows us to experience this reality. If we started off our life with our true knowledge, then we wouldn’t be able to experience this reality as it was intended. The whole point of this game is to experience, to learn, to realize our power. The goal is to master our sacred geometrical shape that is our soul, change its form to align with our true form. The more we understand, the more influence we have over this shape, the idea is that when we go from one life to the next, the only thing we can take through the death process is our sacred geometry of shape of our soul. Compassion, love, and our experience, along with all the other the things we do in this reality changes our sacred soul geometry. What we do in these lives literally echoes through eternity through our sacred soul geometry. The things we do, the decisions we make, it all contributes to the shape of our soul geometry. We have all lived many lives before this one, and there are ways to expedite our awakening. We are souls, we are eternal, we are a single consciousness that figured out how to splinter ourselves, we are on the quest to procreate so we are not alone in the universe. Anyways, that’s what I have uncovered in my 40 years, I’m 40 as of this year. We are here for so much more. We matter, what we do, and say matters, act accordingly.
I am 32 and still struggling to understand who I am, all comments here are so inspiring.

If you are a wise man, you could be a bit late but wiser
I see eneegy stored and released several ways 1. Each link between beads accumulates and releases through: a. Flexural forces b. Tensile/Compressive forces c. Torsional forces 2. Chain mass applies force and resists change through. a. Gravity b. Centrifugal force c. Centripetal force d. Angular momentum e. Friction As the chain rotates over the peak, its momentum counters the gravitational pull a couple of different ways: 1. Bend radius is flexed like a leaf spring. 2. Centrifugal force stiffens the spring 3. Centripetal force drives the link past the gravitational point and creates a lever which drives some of the force back toward the peak, contributing to rhe lifting force. 4. Angular momentum resists lateral, torsional and gravitational pull 5. As the rotating peak shifts in X,Y,Z directions, additional energy is stored and released respectively on either side of the radius if even ever so brief. a. Chain drag b. Chain lash c. Chain pull (as stated above) The radius I think locks in more lifting energy on the gravitational side than anticipated.
The main function of AGI is not efficiency but to generalize.
You ****** fool!
