Krásný a speciální kousek toho Sahara, neviděl jsem že i v Česku jsou, asi jediný kus. Tady u nás v Španělsko ještě jsou pár kousků, já osobní znám jedno, číslo výrobku 13. V Španělsko bylo vyrobeno 85 kusů, pro vojenskou policii. Já mám 2CV 6 Club vyrobeno v Vigo (Španělsko).

When I first heard of the 2CV Sahara I thought they were putting me on about the second engine being where the trunk (boot) used to be to get 4 wheel drive. Now I find out the driver and passenger are practically sitting on an unprotected gas tank! No, no, no! This is not good! 😞

Yeah, typical Citroen of that time. Because installing a second engine with special linkage for clutch, accelerator and gearshift is cooler than just putting in a propshaft and rear differential.
She looks like brand new ...directly bought from a Citroën dealer !

Your restauration's work is tremendous, this car seems to be all new, like if it had been delivered this morning ! If one day you have to sell it, please give a phone call to PSA group (Peugeot Citroen), and ask them if they are interested... This 2cv is very rare, so consider that you have to sell it at an extraordinary price, which is the value of your exceptional work and care... This two engine 2cv is a part of the French patrimony, so please, don't sell it to a private, at term, it has to be exposed in a French museum, with a special thanks to your work on it. And if you want to get big money on it, you should propose an auction sell to Bonham's or Poulain in Paris... Best regards,

do you have to run both engines all the time or just when needed?
I believe that you can lock the clutch on the back engine and run with the front engaged only, some owners made custom changes so that they could disengage the front one as well. But originally it was ether both or the front only.

***** Yes but the fun part is how you did it, by engaging an extra motor instead of transmitting the power from one motor to 4 wd with a transfere case. The 2cv sahara is quit rare, and a collectors item with only 200 made, normal 2cv are quit comon. I have a regular 2cv6
***** Another atvantage is that you can chose between milage and horspower like a genset locomotive does by turning off one motor when you dont need the full power. the first 2cv was actually pretty fuel efficient and comparable to modern fuel efficient cars, however it could only go up to 80 km/h but the sahara utilizing two of these engines could go 120 km/h if both were running.
***** Or perhaps Citroen Visa motors that are the standard late 2cv 6 motor beefed up to about 650cc but the late models were not as fuel efficient as the early models, my own 1991 build 2cv6 with 600cc "enviroment" configured motor only goes 16 km/liter but can unlike normal 2cv motors take fuel of a slightly lower octane rating. If we just screw fuel economy and dont use original parts we could put two Hayabusa Engines in and get 360 Hp on a car that only weighs about half a ton.
well done! I had several 2CV when i was young, read a lot about the Sahara. You did a great job.
It is really rare, I saw the only one in Denmark at the 2CV museum belonging to a 2CV specialist workshop where i get my regular 2CV 600 repaired. Theirs does not have its original bumpers nor rear fenders and they would like to get in touch with someone who has an original one to see how the parts are made.
Building one from scratch would probably be cheaper than getting one of the few remaining 2cv Sahara. Also you could get the replica more powerfull by using 2cv6 engines instead of 2cv4. the challenge would be to make a bonnet as the ripple bonnet is no longer produced and to make the connection of the two gear boxes at a common sifter, otherwise the rest of the parts including whole 2cv bodies and chassis is available.

These guys organised the fantastic Czech World meeting of 2cv Friends which went as well as was as polished and professionally prepared as is this 2cv Sahara...then in 2011 Xavier Audron and band of incompetents produced a World Meeting of 2cv Friends more akin to the rich droppings of the cattle in this film!!! As Terry Thomas said 'What a shower!!!'
