They didn’t just choose to switch to usb c for no reason. The EU forced their hand by requiring all phones to use the same adapter for charging. Apple got away with a small cheat on this by only giving the base models usb-c 2.0 and the pro models usb c 3.2

yeah fuck apple... got the iPhone 15 pro as an upgrade to my contract and quickly realized that after 16 YEARS I still can't edit a phone number before calling. FUCK APPLE!

coming from my iPhone 11 the 15 Pro Max is an amazing upgrade in every way, and thats what people dont understand. The iPhone isn't supposed to get infinitely better every single year it's supposed to be gradual improvements every year so when you do finally upgrade after YEARS (not every year like some people do and them complain about) its a really good experience

The lightning port was better port design for a phone (if the connector breaks, the lightning cable breaks but the USB-C device breaks). I agree Apple basically had to change to USB-C but I massively would have preferred lightning. Apparently I'm not alone as it was basically impossible to get an iPhone 14 Pro Max VERY soon after the 15 launch (in the past, I routinely saw the previous model for 3-6 months).

I'm on the Fibonacci upgrade schedule. I only upgrade when an iPhone number matches with a number from the Fibonacci sequence. This serves me well and means as I age, I upgrade less and less. I no longer must consider features and battery life since they should be improving in lockstep with the Fibonacci numbers represented by Apple's model numbers. As Apple phones move into the mature product category I upgrade less and less which leaves me with more money for retirement. So, I currently have the iPhone 13 Pro and can now wait until the iPhone 21 upgrades. I expect at least two battery changes during the interim but no other charges except that. My jump from the iPhone 8 to the 13 pro was a massive upgrade. I still have my iPhone 8 as a backup and just changed its battery for the first time. I expect to change the battery in my iPhone 13 POro in about another year or so and then will be good for another three years after that and just have to wait for the 21 to be released and give it six months to get the bugs out.
