Eliza Gilkyson Fast Freight
zhlédnutí 28KPřed 9 lety
Fast Freight was originally composed by Eliza's father, Terry Gilkyson, and was recorded by several great folk acts, including Richard Hayes and the Kingston Trio. I want to give a big shout out to the amazing Ray Bonneville, who is the harp-playing "alter ego" in the video. Also, I couldn't have made this without the amazing train footage shot by music (and train) fan Joe Ray Skrha! Directed b...

Get those in my backyard in California. They are weird ass bugs
beautiful song. beautiful song
I heard this song on KPFT not long after it was recorded. Over the past two decades, I find few songs that resonate so well and so completely with my feelings of being a singer/songwriter in a world that provides such a "plastic" audience with algorithmic gatekeepers and limited opportunities to achieve the true intended goals of my unique talent. Ms.Gilkyson's beautiful ballad here is one that stands the test of time for me. It is haunting, beautiful, reflective, and a constant reminder for me that other beautiful souls have traversed a long and sad road ... and that truly the gift of it all is in the creation of a work that is remarkably beautiful. I feel like I know you, Eliza. <3
Oh how peaceful. Thank you. In this day & time, this is so needed.
Jerusalem cricket or potato bug. Not poisonous but will bite if threatened. Trippy ass harmless bugs
Been Following for Over 3 Decades Now!!!! Had the Pleasure of Meeting This Beautiful Spirit a Quarter Century Later at a House Concert!!! Now She's Part of the W A L L!!!!! I'm Blessed!!!
I'm from the Rez in NM every night we see this everywhere but don't know the name of it so we call it a pumpkin head or an alien
Love this song. First heard it in Austin a long time ago! I can TOTALLY relate.
and thankfully our new POTUS s righting some of these wrongs., ones that the Democrats have ignored and allowed to worsen under their watch for decades ! Now there IS going to be REAL Hope & Change!
The truth is so hard it just don't seem real with this shadow growing across our land.
Thank you Eliza... "Let Your Love Light Shine"
I knew the real was yonder and the darkened dream of it was here. Satins system is alive and well thankyou! but people just don't care who runs the show anymore and if God himself no longer can prove his value to them he no longer is master and no second thought is even a consideration.
Beautiful!
oh my...how fine this is, in our great folk tradition
Privileged to attend a Gilkyson concert a couple years ago in LA. This is my favorite song of hers...
The Indians lost Control of the North American continent, because they were too busy cannibalizing each other, to notice that more technically advanced europeans were taking them over. It's Evolution baby! Evolution!
Your son died in Vietnam because LBJ lied about the Tonkin boat incident and dragged the USA into a losing war. fair.org/media-beat-column/30-year-anniversary-tonkin-gulf-lie-launched-vietnam-war/
Wow! What an amazing work of art.. the first song to make me cry since Leonard Cohen was alive, and writing music.
I don't understand why Republicans like making others lives miserable, I can hardly wait for the correction even if I am not qualified. Good song !!!
BonerMaroner are you serious? Chicago, Detroit, st. Louis, Baltimore, East LA are all democratic cities! There is no difference between your republicans and democrats!
You move me, gal!
Wonderful!
Eliza Gilkyson is a treasure, and one who is not afraid to express her view(s) in song. God bless you.
" you do it to me every time," Eliza nailed it ! Phil , we are all graced by your posts. Thank you !
Thanks, once again, for your musical commentary about our bewildering world; your heartfelt lyrics, simple strong guitar work---support for us resisters.
Beautiful
One of my all time favorites from this lady. It was appropriate when it was released in 2008 and it`s even more so now.
Finally, some meaningful music to help us find our priorities again!
Eliza-- This is just so beautiful and moving. Made me cry.
Beautiful. I didn't know who she was. Does anyone know what the situation was with the little boy and the cop? It broke my heart.
We need music like this to remind us of how far we have come and the tasks that still must be done.
Powerful and moving. Exactly what we've come to expect from Eliza Gilkyson.
Seriously, a combination of tears and hope -- you do it to me every time, Eliza. XOXO
A wonderful collection of images to compliment this very poignant song. Thank you for sharing.
Alan Milne before I saw this video I picture the Statue of Liberty when she mentioned hold the lantern.

Thanks for the info, I love all the names for this interesting creature!
I am from New Mexico never heard it called a Potato bug.
Potato bug, common under earth dweller from texas to California
I was born, raised, and have lived in New Mexico all my life and have never once heard them called "chachos". I've always heard them called "niña de la tierra" or "child of the earth".
NMPagan I live here as well and that’s what we called them as well
In New Mexico, we also call them chachos. They bite, but only if you really bother them.
@vidguy46 i think the alien is female. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but that was my take. also, i didn't understand the ending from the point the woman got hurt from the thorns on, and then the alien also had thorns. would someone please explain? anyway this is an intriguing piece. reminds me too of the man that fell to earth. really great!
