Seriously! I showed this to teens and they were perplexed by the way the narrator spoke. We don’t speak like that, come on now! A really informative video nevertheless.

The choice of narration style reflects a more formal aspect of English as spoken in England, where I was born and raised. I’m genuinely curious to learn about your perspectives on how English is spoken differently.
@@SimpleEnglishUK Yes, it was simple to understand, no doubt at all…But that’s just it. People speak with less intonation in relation to how you spoke and pronounced words. If you listen to all sorts of English speaking people in the UK, on average they speak faster than you did in the video. I showed your video to high level ESL students at C2 level and then showed other activities as well as the BBC and a variety of UK accents and the majority agreed that although they understood you totally, they realised that it was not the case with other recordings. I, myself, am from London and have travelled extensively in The UK and have found that most people speak quicker as well with people not putting emphasis into their dialogue as you did… Hence my statement originally… The most important thing is to communicate clearly. You do that in the video, very well. I just do not come across people speaking like that in general.
