Really enjoying this audio book series, as always. This book so far has only reaffirmed my believe that social democracy is indeed a form of social fascism. Which reminds me when I saw someone call AOC a social fascist, only for another communist to say that they should drop the line of "social fascism" for some reason. This same communist also called Tito's establishing of the non-aligned movement "based".

I like to go back to these older videos, and especially after the last three chapters in Dutt's book you're doing. It's so eye-opening looking at the current/close past events and how cyclical it all is. Also, what got to me most is when she said "You know, if Joe Biden didn't win the presidency, that would have made a harder strike. Even though they don't seem connected (cuz they're not), there *is* something to be said about the morale of seeing your actions manifest into change." Like, the irony of these two sentences. There *is* indeed something tangible between morale of seeing your actions manifest into change (little change as it may have been), but not f*cking Joe Brandon! The constant need to push for electoralism in absolutely *everything* even after she herself said change doesn't come through electoralism, she stuffs it down our throats anyway when on the ground action gains some larger crumbs. This is a book well beaten, I know, but couldn't let that attempt of cooption between action and bourgeois democracy pass, even after three years.

35:32 I believe the approaching economic crash is likely to compel the ruling class to implement UBI to keep monopoly capitalism going for a little longer while establishing a permanent war economy. It would also be an effective strategy to prevent unionization and sow division between labor unions. It would keep the petite-bourgeoisie and labor aristocracy calm for some time as they'll still be able to engage in the consumerist habits that are so essential to their class identity/culture. It would allow for business owners to completely stop having to pay for their employees healthcare insurance and it would depoliticize the discourse on wages and rent prices. However, I believe the emerging fascism (in NA) is going to have a particularly close relationship with the tech industry and we can already see that UBI has been especially pushed by tycoons from the tech sector. UBI would have the effect of a political nuke on the working class.

Send this chapter to any liberal putting most of the blame on the Communists for the rise of Fascism (I'm looking at you Chomsky!) I loved the commentary tying the pseudo-populism to the modern day Tea Party and creation of MAGA along with the bs MAGA "Communism". This chapter really nails the reality of the Social-Fascist nature of Social Democracy in Germany and ends off strong showing the diverging results of the two lines between Lenin and Kautsky and destroys the peaceful democratic road to socialism. I'm super excited for the next chapter which covers probably the best example of Social-Fascism in Austria and the chapter after that will cover the twin character of Social Democracy and Fascism.

Yes, the Tea Party was a very mainstream fascist movement, astroturfed by the usual oligarchs who have always supported fascists. And then there's the Southeast... or as I prefer to call it, Nazi America, since it inspired the actual Nazi party. Nixon's appeal to the South, his elevation of Kissinger, and what I like to call the second Business Plot, the reactionary church and corporate backing of the GOP starting in the 70's lead to Ronny the Shitbag, may he rest in piss. Reagan's biggest fan club resided in the South in the 80's and I have nothing nice to say about the American Southeast. I saw enough of it over the course of the late 70's and 80's and was so disgusted by it that I found military service thanks to the poverty draft more progressive in nature than life down there. Yes, Really. I could at least have non white and non Christian friends without endless hassle when I was enlisted. Yes, the Southeastern US really was even worse once upon a time. consider how large the Southeastern US really is compared to many countries elsewhere and how much it has held us back for over 200 years. That's kind of baggage we have to overcome here.

It's really crazy what ultra conservative revisionists like Scheidemann or Ebert were able to worm their way into the leadership of the social democrats. Before 1914 the SPD was a revolutionary Marxist party, but apparently had high ranking monarchists in it

The last CPUSA stream, like yesterday as the "convention pre-game" they referenced the party dissolving, but they seemed to have taken the absolute worst lesson from it that they could.

The executing billionaires thing is pretty silly when you think about it. Sure, the US doesn't ever really put billionaires to death, but it's not like American capitalists are always in lockstep with one another. They're constantly trying to siphon off capital from each other and take legal action constantly. Temu and Shein, two Chinese companies that are privately owned as far as I can find, have been embroiled in a legal dispute for like a year and a half now. But even the biggest multipolarity fans USUALLY acknowledge that Russia is capitalist, and Russian capitalists "mysteriously" die or vanish on a regular basis, like Prigozhin. So it's not even unheard of for capitalists to take drastic measures when one of their own fall out of line.

Trotskyists/LeftComs assert that Browder's revisionism is the consequence of Soviet war policy and especially the Comintern's popular front (which connects to the theory of 'socialism in ine country' and that the task of the international working class is defending the Soviet revolution rather than carrying out world socialism, because socialism can supposedly be built in one country). Class struggle is put aside, while we as Browder said must forfeit our principles as communists for the aim of class collaborationism against fascism. I feel like Browderism is just the policy of the popular front in the post-war period. But I am also super sceptical about this interpretation of Stalin's "mistakes". I would love to hear your thoughts on how socialism in one country, the popular front and Browderism are connected if at all. Edit: I just got to the end of the discussion and you touch on the popular front. Do you plan on going further into detail into this position of the comintern?
