It's actually mental. Considering the fatigue other clubs will face at the end of the season, we really should be dominating pretty much everyone then. If we are still in the UCL then, maybe we can go on and win our second. The only club that I can accept defeat to in this case would be Real Madrid.

@@alfvervaeke When you consider just how unfortunate our timing was last season running into RM in the quarters of the UCL, we just got KDB back and he was not match fit yet. We also didn't have Gundo. This is the strongest squad we have ever had. Hopefully we can go on and win multiple trophies this season.

La Masia is the only academy not failing... YET. I agree that La Masia is the best academy in the world, but it isn't what it used to be. It is in decline, and that is for a different reason than most other academies. Barca's financial situation is strangling La Masia right now. Ontop of that, they keep selling players they would rather keep for another 2 or 3 years cause they need funds. The building is still standing, but there's cracks in the walls. And that's the BEST in the world. That tells you a grim story.

@@33jangofett That's a list compiled by someone who started watching football in 2012. Gavi is very mediocre, so is Balde. Fati might've been excelent if not for the early injuries. I've not seen enough of Bernal nor Victor to be convinced. Cubarsi has potential, but that's all it is. Potential. Now live up to it. Yamal I completely agree with. So at the moment we've got 1 player + 1 maybe + 1 could have been save for injuries. Not at all what it used to be.

The reason for the players being mediocre is injuries fr. Balde was class in the 2022/23 season when we won laliga but then got injured same with gavi. We know the situation about fati. Fermin has been class this past season so has been cubarsi and yamal. U should blame the coach, or the medical staff instead of the players

The definition of Invincible: "too powerful to be defeated or overcome" You don't deserve that title without winning every competition you were in without suffering a single defeat. Categorically, you are not invincible if there is a single competition you didn't win. Because you were overcome. In the same sense, you were not invincible if you suffered a single defeat across all competitions, even if you won all of them. Because then you were defeated. The title of Invincibles is handed out too easily. To be invincible is to be the greatest - and yet not a single one of the 'invincible' teams out there strike me as being on the level 2008 Man U., 2009 Barca, 3peat Madrid or 2023 Man City. As for the idea that going unbeaten for a full league season is impressive. Sure, it makes your 90 points get an asterisk. And yet Perugia didn't win the title for going invincible, did they now?

You're completely correct on the Pedri one! Although I don't think that players like Vidovic are exactly talented, the fact that Bayern Munchen isn't constantly producing talented players in the first places shows how underfunded their academies really are.

You raise a very good point! This video was focused on the academies itself, but you are absolutely correct! I personally think the fundemental problem is playing in organized academies but not outside of it. There is something that an academy can never teach you: personality. And that is one of the biggest things missing in the modern day.

That's just whataboutism though. The club is certainly at blame. But that doesn't change the fact that Kalvin Philips got a contract, came in and then started coming to training overweight. Never seems to try at training and has 0 mentality. In fact, I think the club have been absolutely terrible in the transfer window in recent years. That doesn't mean it's okay for players to act like this.

The Cup Winners Cup used to be second to the European Cup. The UEFA Cup (now Europa League) used to be the third tier. But that changed when the Champions League format was introduced. The Cup Winners would usually finish in the top half. Suddenly, a lot of cup winners were playing Champions League instead. That led to teams as low as the Quarter Finals qualifying for the Cup Winners Cup (when previously, it was always the winner. Or the runner up in case of a double winner). This made the Cup Winners Cup lose all its prestige, so it was merged with the UEFA Cup. Not removed, but merged. Which is why if you win your domestic cup, you qualify for the Europa League unless you finish top 4.

That might work to lessen the blow on the lower competitions, but that would still bloat the UCL with "Top 5 league" teams. And besides, I think if you're going to call a competition the "Champions" League, that only champions should be playing in it.

Sorry for the late response! That's actually really interesting! Although, Man City's sell outs have probably dropped because we built the City of Manchester stadium (now the Etihad). A bigger stadium is more difficult to fill. Which is why Liverpool struggles to sell out Anfield. I think the more interesting one of the two is the average attendances! It's undeniable that Liverpool has lost a large portion of its following during the 90s and 2000s. And Liverpool's current following is direcetly tied to their recent success. I think if that falls away for 5 years, and City keep winning trophies, we definitely overtake them entirely!

I'm not really surprised when I saw the line up. 6/11 players had never played first team football for Man City. Of the 5 other ones, 1 is coming off of an injury season, two others are still trying to break through and one is the goalkeeper. The important thing in these friendlies isn't winning. It's seeing who's good and who isn't. I.e., filtering out the trash.

Bobb isn't getting into this current Man City team unless we drop Bernardo. Meanwhile, we are down on our knees for a Rodri cover. Without one, Rodri's career is done by 30. And if he gets injured mid season, our season is over. Rodri was considered trash when he first came to City. Let's be honest and admit that we haven't been watching every game Bruno has played. Whilst our scouts most certainly have. A new 6 is a necessity. Another midfield-winger who can be replaced by one of a dozen copy pastas in our academy whilst having 3 other wingers already does not phase me to the same degree.

@@paulbrickland9625 Kimmich is 3 years older than Bruno. Kimmich is hitting his thirties, Bruno isn't. The system Pep played with Bayern is very different from what he plays now. There's reasons to want both, but Bruno is lower wages, younger and used to Premier League football. He knows the teams he'll be playing against. We NEED a DM, who we'll get unknown. Could be Perrone getting into our starting XI for all we know. But Rodri absolutely cannot be playing 30+ premier league games again this season.
