I bet some chlorine donor like parlon or PVC would do good to get that beautiful strontium red
I think there would still be much orange due to the oil covering the Sr.
Black smoke??
You get the same result when using green colored MoO3. I don't know why. If you expose MoO3 to a flame it turns black.
Very Informative
Thank you. Since Ca is very reactive I thought I would mix it with a bunch of things. I tried with B4C as well but the reaction was too weak.

*What’s so ironic about this scene is that if you watch the Life of Larry & Steve or even some of the earliest family guy episodes… Brian Griffin was supposed to be this wise sage, like the smartest person in the family even though he is a dog. He would be the one making sarcastic clever jokes that would run circles around the family’s head. In this video, he is the one being circled around with sarcasm. Obviously, Seth knew he had to evolve Brian. He couldn’t just be a wise dog for 10 seasons. So he evolved him to being a fairly intelligent but dysfunctional underachiever, a phoney and a hypocrite. It was a nice transition and made his character more realistic.*
Stewie knows Brian won’t finish the novel 😅
Beautiful!
Interesting, if in the compacted form(pressed tablet), how high is the activation energy of this mixture?
That's above my knowledge. I just put a sparkler in it and it burned.
@@JoakimfromAnka Seems like and ideal delay composition (gasless), that's why it's interesting.

Can you please try copper acetate and potassium chlorate? I heard somewhere that it comes out quite powerfully. I think it will be interesting
Yes I could try it some time in the future. I have no copper acetate atm. Hopefull it makes blue flame.
@@JoakimfromAnka I tried to do it recently, it burned down almost instantly and the flame is not really visible. You can add PVC, it will burn just a little longer, and the color will be saturated due to chlorine :)
Where do you get your metals and other stuff from?

@@JoakimfromAnka Si is metallic or amorphous?
@@user-wm3kp2vh8u Si is a metalloid. It reacts with bases.
@@JoakimfromAnka Metallic silicon is worse than amorphous silicon. You need more oxidizing agent and a higher temperature to ignite it. If the composition is pressed into a tube, then it is much more difficult to ignite it than bulk composition.
@@user-wm3kp2vh8u I misundetstood your question. I have never heard of metallic (crystalline?) or amorphous silicon so I can't tell what form I have.
Will it react with sugar or coal? It seems to be nitrate, but at the same time it is a crystal hydrate, not an anhydrous salt
I have not tested. I think I tried with sawdust and got no ignition.
@@JoakimfromAnka Understood. Cellulose is something between sugar and something else. As I remember, there was a reaction with potassium nitrate. But if copper nitrate does not react with sawdust, then it is unlikely that it will react with sugar or coal
@@xxchaosmasterrxx4486 I managed to get a weak reaction with red gum. The flames were a mixture of green and orange. Very boring reaction.
No flame color, hmm
Some fuels make colors, others don't. I don't know why. Sugar gives red. Sawdust gives red-orange. Dextrin gives orange. Al and Mg gives a little bit of pale red, while Ti and Si gives white.
Can you try with ammonium nitrate btw?
Not available in my country.
Is Titanium nitride formation a possibility here? No stoichiometric mixture burns hotter for some reason..
Yes. Ti makes both oxide and nitride when burning in air. I think the K2O produced also serves as an oxidizer.
interesting, I didn't know you could react aluminium and carbon that easily
It is surprising indeed. The ease of getting the reaction depends a lot on the type of carbon and grain size of Al. 45µm works well with with lampblack and with some effort activated carbon. It's very difficult to get it to react with graphite and I could not get it to react with charcoal. Pyro dark is 6-7µm and works well with all types of carbon.
Graphite better than lampblack, how?
I know it's weird. Graphite is usually the least reactive form of carbon. Lampblack gives the best reaction with metals.
Titanium is surprisingly active with metal oxides, i will recommend you to try it with copper oxide, analogous to copper thermite.
Already done a video with Ti+CuO.
@@JoakimfromAnka sorry, probably I'v missed that .

This game was lit as a kid. Definitely raged a couple of times and the music always been fire
Talking about it for 3 years and he is 1.
Good
Somewhat weak for Zr, Ive heard Zr compositions are very sensitive.
Maybe the mixtures you hear about use fine powder. This one is using flakes from drilling.
A former friend of mine kept bragging about writing his novel, and this was I how responded to him every time.
YOU KEEP THIS LOVE!!!
I love the unusual thermite videos. Try to get a little closer, especially for the mild reactions. Maybe a close up of the end product. Id like to see if there is any metal. Keep them coming You'll have 100,000 subcribers in no time.
Did you try adding the resultant to water to see if it evolves acetylene?
No I have not tried.
How are the larger particle mixes faster for this one???
I don't know! I find it strange too.
@@JoakimfromAnka Are you interested in running some of these reactions under inert gas? Could be as simple, maybe, as putting a glass bowl/jar/cup over the top and flushing with argon. Also, do you know of Fischer and Grublelich's thermite tables? There are some really interesting-looking reactions in there, like Li + Fe2O3, which has zero gas production but both products end up as liquids under adiabatic complete stoichiometric reaction.
@@sealpiercing8476 I have no argon gas. Too advanced for me. Yes I have seen the tables. Some of the numbers there seems way off. Like the temp and heat from Mg+B2O3, Ti+C, Hf+C, Hf+MoO3, Ta+I2O5.
🙈🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️
try using magnesium instead of titanium
I did. The reaction was very weak.
How stable is the mixture of chlorate and aluminum? I thought it would catch fire on its own.
now this is something, because at low temperatures aluminium should be more oxygen affine than magnesium. ie the reaction should go the other way. aluminium + MgO termite. Mg requires a high temperature to be more oxygen affine than aluminium.
The reaction seems to produce a surprising amount of gas; presumably not vapourised copper sulfide, so is it excess sulfur forming sulfur dioxide?
Is that plate steel? If so, I am surprised at how much heat this reaction produces!
1.25mm steel
