Inspired by the pinwheel and the predecessor of the whirligig and wind turbine, Third Wind playfully explorers the power and potential of wind energy. Created by artist Kim Bernard, this sculpture was exhibited at the Harvard Science Center and Chesterwood Sculpture Park. PVC, 11'x4'x3' each.

Last summer, a group from the Bronx Documentary Center visited Rockland and created mini documentaries about artists and makers in the mid-coast. Great little documentary to direct much needed attention to the truth about plastics. Every student should have an opportunity to see this and experience projects like these. Thanks for your hard work Kim. BTW the fade out at the end darkens the credit/copy (at least on my device)

That's a nice one! 😃👍 The wax ran out exactly in the same moment. Any less and had been incomplete, any more and it had gotten blurry and bold in the middle. I like the double double twist in the middle. And 'bout which correct diluition and size of hole?
The opening is about 1/8 " diameter and the encaustic paint is the consistency of cream. I tried a diameter of 1/4" first and it flowed out way too fast.

I did not understand what you said the medium was - I got fire engine red wax, beeswax, and coloring and something else. I also did not understand when you were talking about how you fix the wax to the canvas the next day. Could you elaborate on both of those points please? It looks like FUN!
