❤ great job
Bro, I love your videos are so nice and clean
Thank you!
Thanks for the shout out. Love the cross around your neck bro!
Thanks for all the help! I’d be lost without Him. 🙏🏻
@@thegentryjourney Amen to that brother!
man just love these videos! Keep up the great work, you always have a great attitude and these brighten my day. Thank you!
"Huh, I didn't realize that anyone actually bought those off the shelf stringers from the big box store" Seriously though, I've been enjoying the series, and my only piece of feedback here is that you typically want to gap the T1-11 1/4-1/2" up off your foundation so it doesn't just sit in water there.
You’ve seen it here first 😂😂
So question, is there a way that I can make it work without the gap? Or should I be redoing it. Will it make a difference if I’m painting it, or no matter what it’ll ruin over time?
@@thegentryjourney the concern is the edge sitting in water and rotting out. I don't think you could get enough paint up under it to prevent it anyways, so if I was you, since rotted out T1-11 is so easy to replace in 5-10 years when needed, I'd probably go the easy route and go in there with your oscillating multitool/ saw to cut the gap just around the cinder blocks so they're just not touching. If you did end up pulling it out, I'd put some right angle flashing behind/under the T1-11 to protect the floor system from seeing daylight in the gap, but I don't think you could get flashing up and behind it without tearing it off at this point. And we're talking about a shed, so low stakes.
Amazing! Thank you so much! If I can get away with doing the saw and taking some out of it I’ll probably end up doing that. Really appreciate the advice
Make sure you use gable trim to cover up the gable ends since you done have an overhang
I’ll research that and put it on there, thank you!
We back at it boys!
Dance party! Let’s go! Haha 0:17
Love this, so honest. I’ve been DIYing for 20 years now and the more you try the better you get. Keep at it. CZcams university is so helpful these days. When I started there was no such thing. Even if the views or likes are lower than you want, just know you’re helping others out!🎉
I love this comment! Thank you so much! I figure the more I mess stuff up the more I’ll help people along the way 😂😂
Always hated doing roofs but it's an extremely valuable skill to have. I will continue doing my own until I make enough money to not cry when I get quotes 😂
😂😂 I feel that in my bones lol. I got a concrete quote for the house recently and I about fainted
cost break down would be cool for future videos
I totally agree! I have to buy a safe to keep my receipts in because I have 3 young kids who love to rip things up 😂😂
Build the wall on the deck. Square it by measuring diagonally both ways (the measurements should be the same) and attach your plywood or OSB sheathing while it's still on the deck. Then tip it up and it's square and you don't have to try and hold OSB up in the air or climb on a ladder trying to sheath the wall.
😫😫 this would have saved me so much trouble. It’ll save me a lot of hassle once I start the house build! Thank you!
@@thegentryjourney You're welcome.
Well you're new... You can tell if the OSB is on square by looking at the edge that's on half a rafter.
Learned that the hard way 😂
I will hand dig foundations in a swarm of black flies before I do another roof. (solo 8/12, 850 sq ft cottage w metal)
🫡🫡 all I can do it’s salute because ain’t no way I’d be finishing that roof 🤣
Why is it not finished? For safety reasons
I’m working on finishing it in the next couple of days actually! As long as I don’t run into any bumps in the process lol
Nice work but the short cuts on the osb would make for weaker floors.
Thank you! I’ve never built anything like this before so it’s definitely been a learning experience. Another person commented that I should have staggered the OSB for the floors instead of how I did it and they were right. Some of the spots are sagging just a bit
what not do both 4/12 and then 9/12 ontop
@ 2:12 . Trusha (watch out) he's back Homes .
It’s amazing that you caught that, he was coming back, but I couldn’t show what happened… 🫡
@ 6:44 . The Homie tried to get it Homes .
Dude I feel ya. I try to do everything myself too. Got my ass kicked building a 4x8 chicken coop. A damn chicken coop! But it’s nice to look at something and be able to say “I built that”. Kudos to you for not editing the frustration
Thanks so much!! This comment made me laugh 🤣. I have a to do a chicken coop too, any tips? I think being able to say I built that is so cool and love ones will be proud of you for providing for your family! Super rad, love to see it!!
@@thegentryjourney make sure everything is SQUARE AND STRAIGHT. not saying I did that. But it definitely helps with the build the further you go
I walk 10/12 all day with cougar paws lol
I can’t shake that sensation that I’m gunna just slide right off!
$300 for a pair of boots!! I just looked them up, it looks like you can stick to a vertical wall in those things 😂
The steeper the pitch less chance of the snow laying on the roof and a four is OK
Four it is then! The closer to flat the better for me 😂
8/12 is the steepest pitch you can walk on without toe boards
When I watch videos for people installing roofs, these guys are just skating up there all comfortable. My legs won’t work up on this 6/12 pitch 😅😂
i can walk a 9/12 when its at the decking. If its deteriorated asphalt shingle thats a different story. But i use a valley if there is one to walk it. Cause boards take time to setup and move
2 splinters and high places….. osha approved of course lol!!
Be careful! I recommend that you have someone else with you so they can hand you things..
You didn't put the gutter board on
Totally true, something I still have to do. I left space to install it, even though it’ll be out of order 😅😅
I would paint that roof blue. In case Oprah wants to burn more land
You ain’t lying 😂😂😂
Subbed! Really peaceful and upbeat vibe man love the video, excited for the series!
Thanks so much!!
The angle of those ladders
I’m just now seeing this comment, sorry! Am I gunna die 😂?!
Love the camera angles and the commentary is great, just smiling watching this
It's gonna be cool when a whole bunch of folks discover this channel and you get like a billion subs. Your banter with yourself cracks me up. Great vibes, keep it up. Been entertained since the start.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you!!
Oh heck yes! The roof has begun!
Hell yeah dude
What about your gutter board because your metal be about inch and half past the gutter board
I haven’t installed that yet, I really need to 😂. I’m thinking about what type of material I want to use for it
@@thegentryjourney should definantly do facia befor metal roof. Soffit too if your adding it. Makes it easier
They call them little holes is call gable ends
The gable
Great video, learning something new from these videos
Thanks!!
That would be framing in your gables. The little triangle holes are your gable ends.
Thanks! I think everyone can tell I struggle with all these different terms for things 😂. Any advice on the best way to frame them?
nobody gives a shit dude
Can’t wait to see the work!
I'm actually interested in building one of these sheds.. Do you have the plans for these?
I don't actually, I'm honestly just winging it! Luckily the smaller projects like these sheds are more forgiving when it comes to "messing up". When I start on the home build within the next few weeks I'll be following plans by the number
Looking good brother!
If you have extra time when all said and done you can throw a little silicone on each screw head for backup protection since you will only have 3 or 4 runs on each side of ur ridge
Get a buddy to help makes it fly by no easy way of laying pannels get a pattern for ur screws and find ur studs and run it the hole way wherever ur runs are the screws is the longest part I feel like lol thousands of screws in our case in ur case not so many
Thank you!!
You don’t have to use pressure treated if you’re nailing it to a wood subfloor
oh my goodness, now that you said that it makes complete sense as to why too lol!! I'm going to be doing a concrete foundation for my house so that probably just bled over. Good call!
I noticed that on the floor, you didn't stagger the OSB. I read that it add strength for this but it's just a shed like you mentioned.
Thanks for that! I'll absolutely do that on future builds.
Spider in my boot! 😂 And LIKE A GLOVE! Man love the work! Inspires normal guys to do some building
Love the new video!
Thanks! got more coming
Excited to see the journey
😄
