It's amazing how so much has changed. All those original early 20th century buildings were there over 40 years ago. Leone really brought the early 20th century to life.
The first pic from google earth is completly wrong! In the show we can clearly see the "Castel dell'Ovo" when in google earth is "Nisida Island" that is very far away from Naples

Please have a go at the View of Delft. The street with the house needs a narrow field to frame the subject as seen in the painting. Like a telephoto lens or zooming in. If the same lens was used in a setup like Tim's Vermeer by Tim Jenison? That would explain the foreshortening of the perspective. You will need to find a virtual position for Vermeer and his studio. It may have been the former inn that he had family connections with. But that is circumstantial and it could have been anywhere on that side of the canal that gives the matching view. The Little House has a better location for him painting from as you show on the other side of the canal.

The Matrix was dreamed up long before Dark City though
The producer from Dark City, Andrew Mason, who also worked on the The Matrix showed the Wachowski brothers a early screening of the movie in Dec 97. I suspect he even allowed them to have a copy of the film as well. I'm pretty sure they made a lot of adjustments to their script after that, hence all of the similarities they even used some of the same sets as well - the rooftop chase.
