People who are saying it’s easy and that Mort underestimates AI. You have to consider that if you make a lobby of 8 AI to play each other millions of times, this will not translate to 8 humans playing like humans if both experiments were run blindly and so balancing around what the AI does wont matter unless humans get access to the AI games and learn how they played a specific set / patch.

there definitely are an insane number of variables to create an actually perfect ai, ranging from positioning, leveling, gold/econ, rolling odds, augment considerations, lobby comp playing, and having them all be interconnected only increases the compleixty. Many of this complexity is simplified in current meta to a rough this is how to do it, but its only because game to game it is too difficult for the average player to reasonably account for all the factors and instead can only rely on "luck"

Wow... Just wow... I've seen mort say some really out of touch things but this is just out of this universe levels of delusion. The amount of datapoints to simulate TFT is comically low in comparison to what many commercial applications are doing today. Yet another example of Mort's ego standing in the way of the game becoming better. Now I understand why this game is constantly in a state where half the units are un-carriable trait bots (kaisa right now) and there's really only a pool of 10-20 viable comps.

People have to realize, TFT has an absolutely god damn insane amount of variables and permutions, so much so that using Ai to balance isn’t just as easy as “duh plug the numbers in and it will tell you what is OP” and anyone who thinks like that doesn’t understand machine learning.

tft is not more complicated than dota and openai trained on that... has to be a resource issue

When do I build either Sterak's over Titan's? Easy question. Do I have more bows and vests, or swords and belts? I know, I know, that's not what Mort is getting at, but in reality that's what it comes down to sometimes. I think having a bit of overlap in item identity isn't necessarily bad especially when the items needed are so different that you can build it from different spots.

Yea but that just sounds super fun. You can hate me all you want but set 7 set 8 were sooo fun. Shimmerscale, underground, these full highroll rounds, everything unbalanced as it possibly can. Sure, most of the games you also got smacked in the face by some unbalanced stuff, but when it was finally YOUR time to Highroll it was the most fun stuff ever.

At that point increase hp to 250, max level to 20 and let the board be double or three times the size so you can set up "ganking squads" to one side, "main force" somewhere else etc. Basically make it an rts when it comes to strategy but not the real time part. Guess you would need to block vision to enemy board 10 secs before round start though so you cant out APM them😂

I miss the old times because I am really good at itemization. But yes, it's way more balanced like that ^^ Also you gotta keep in mind with radiant, artifact and support items we have way more tools to actively buff our champs so the regular items also had to lose in value or those new item types would prove to be overpowered again just like items in set 1.

I hope people understand that Soju is yapping for content and not because of a genuine frustration at his spot. Of course he's chilling when he has Rakan 3, but he just chooses to talk about the fortune odds to rile up his viewers for the sake of entertainment, that's just the streamer personality that he's put on and is leaning into. (His points about his cashout are still true, there's a very high chance he loses this game because he got this specific cashout, can't say for sure without scouting the rest of the lobby, but he lacks real combat power that he could've gotten from other fortune cashouts.) This guy is only yapping because he's on stream, he's not gonna act like this off stream (or at least not to this extent). Of course we love to shit on Soju for being a serial yapper for fun, but if anyone sincerely thinks that Soju is hateful playing TFT, I'd urge you to reconsider.
