Vista is the best looking still. Looks better than 7 too although 7 is technically much better. Vista just feel cosy to me. 11 is trash. 10 is pretty shit. 8 and 8.1 weren't that bad but it was the beginning of the end from there. 7 last true WindowsOS.

8.1 is my favorite version of Windows, it was much lighter than 10 and could pretty easily be made to work more or less the same as 7 if need be. It really was great on a tablet especially, the touch experience, gestures, and animations are somehow _still_ better than both 10 and 11 It was also the seemingly the last time they had an actual QA team to fix bugs, 10.and 11 have so many inexplicable jitters and small bugs that just don't really happen to me on 7 and 8.

you should install video drivers it would work better

the theme engine is still a thing in windows 10. you can enable it in the personalization options under colors. for some reason they decided to make accent colors not apply by default

Nice video man. On a full screen Metro app with a mouse and keyboard, it felt really dumb clicking at the top of the window and dragging it all the way down to close an app. On a touchscreen device like the Surface Pro or Surface RT, it makes a lot more sense swiping down with your finger. I feel as if the Start Screen makes so much more sense on a tablet as well. Would be cool if there was a small comeback of Windows 8 on something like the ROG Ally or Steam Deck. I never liked the traditional Windows UI on a tablet lol

To be honest, I am one of few people who actually enjoyed using Windows 8 in general regardless of whether it's RTM or 8.1. Mainly because it was in my experience it was an extremely stable system and I rarely ever encountered any BSODs or lock ups. Unlike with some of my past experiences with Windows 7 and XP, where the system would BSOD or lock up quite often out of no where and without any warning. There again I think that was mainly due to driver issues and wasn't really the fault of the OSes themselves. Other than my experience with Windows 8 being really good, I like the idea that Microsoft went for. Whilst it doesn't suit a desktop OS, it's really not even that hard to use once you get used to it. I actually had been using Windows 8 as main OS since 2013. Although I pretty much moved on to using Windows 10 as my main OS now, officially as of this year. Although in a few years, i'll eventually have to move onto Windows 11.

microsoft is making the same mistake as windows 8 on windows 11, designing things to be touchscreen friendly & forcing that on desktop users. the amount of unnecessary padding and removal of anything compact is insanely annoying. they removed the option for a small taskbar (they also made the taskbar ~10px taller than win10), they bloated all the ui elements and gave them a billion percent more padding and rounding, spaced everything apart, generally everything is a waste of screen space. look how fucking massive the start menu is lol

XP was one of the few releases they actually got right - eventually with the service packs. If anybody needs the service packs reply to this message and I'll put them on OneDrive or Google Drive.

so basically kinda like windows 7 you can install security updates until 2023 (no esu) some softwares ended support for windows 7 earlier before windows 8 and uhh yeah I think that's it, overall a less bloated version of windows 10

Microsoft sees the mobile phone market as an industry full of microtransactions they base the Xbox one off at all their games their apps everything Windows 8 Windows 8.1 I'm sick of it with this Metro and they don't even use proper PC RAM on the Xbox or anything they're using ddr6 which is a type of smartphone Ram with barely any freaking bandwidth and all its God is just super fast loads I'm sick of myself and they absolutely go the wrong way every single time for more money and they just abuse us and don't even look back I'm done with these losers

Not really modern programs but I use Windows 7 to drive CNC machinery with Mach 3 through a parallel port. The Mach 3 control program loves Windows 7 and is prone to hiccups in newer operating systems. The parallel port has enough one-bit lines to drive stepper motors on three axes with feedback from limit switches. etc.

I got it to work on an old Core2 machine quite nicely. There is a reworked version of Chrome core called "Supermium" that works beautifully.

Hey guys, about the brave browser, there is a version which you could find that supports windows 7, it's actually better to install the 32 bit version to make sure it's supported as 64bit machines can run both 32 & 64 bit programs.

The remake still has potential as it’s still getting updates, but it’s probably cooked 💀

My way of doing it is opening MSN Messenger, then clicking on "Go to your space", which opens it.

The remake got a few updates in the months since but I haven't tested them yet. I do remember the Instant Action map selection was still broken on PC after the first update and the victory music still had the wrong pitch. People hyperfocused on the fixed netcode but I didn't see peeple talking about singleplayer or otherwise clientside aspects such as that which had yet to be fixed after the first patch. I still prefer the original versions in any case.
