How To Convert CFM to ACH 50
In this video, I will explain the formula we use for converting CFM (Cubic Feet Per Minute) to ACH 50 (Air Changes per Hr) at 50 pascals. I'll use some air leakage rates that I gathered from a blower door test on my own home as an example.
A blower test typically gives a result in CFM at a particular pressure (Usually using the standard of 50 pascals), AHC 50 is a useful metric because it helps us understand an air leakage rate relative to a house's volume.
Imagine you had 2 houses that both scored 2,500 CFM. You might think that these 2 houses are equally leaky. But if one of these houses has an interior air volume of 10,000 cubic ft and the other a volume of 30,000 cubic ft. What then? The 2,500 CFM means something different to each house. Even though both houses scored 2,500 CFM they're not entirely the same. Converting to AHC 50 helps us account for this.
Exterior surface area to CFM may be a metric better yet than ACH, but I digress, that's a conversation for another time.

You are hilarious! Really enjoy ur videos
Thanks!
And your cute too!
Fantastic vid. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Awesome review, especially the follow-up. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
milwaukee do an electrical staple on same name as this just instead of bst its bcst
Great video brother. suggestion, protect the tip with a short piece of vinyl tubing or duct tape over the end of the gun tip.
That’s a good tip (pun intended), I think a piece of vinyl would work well
Where can I find the camera you are using for doing thermal imaging?
There is a link to it in the video description, it’s called FLIR ONE
Hang on… I have this but the files already are mov!
thank you
You’re welcome
mine is already a mov lol and still messed
Bummer 😕
Man thanks a lot for this! You’re the real MVP 🎉
You are welcome!
Where'd you get the bolts? Size ?
These things are great for micro-adjusting the bead, only problem I have is you can't switch out cans until the current one is empty unless you want to lose all the contents. This means if you want to be able to spray different foams you'll need multiple guns.
Very helpful 😊
Very thorough but concise, much appreciated
You are welcome!
OMG THANK YOU!!!! I WAS BREAKING MY HEAD TILL I FOUND THIS!!!
You are welcome, I’m glad it worked for you!

Thanks. It still works with fixing videos.

😊THANK YOUUUUU !!!! FCPX has been an absolute pain, glad I came across this video!!
Question, do you smoke the joint before or after you seal it ? Asking for a friend of course 😉
I'm using a Hohem M6 gimble and this absolutely worked, changing the .MP4 to .MOV . Thanks!
You’re welcome! I’m glad it worked for you
I have 102 pro series guns and 196 great foam 24 oz can for sale anyone wants it
at Ace Hardware you can get the gun for the rip-off price of $75 and a can of foam for $18 . I ordered the gun from Temu for $ 7 but they don't sell the foam. I am looking for the foam for a reasonable price but not have much luck.
I buy the foam at Menards. I’ve seen HomeDepot stores that carry it too.
i thought the directions said you could leave the bottle attached to the gun and it would work 10 days later when you needed it?
Should be 30 days
How about Apple - fix the bugs!
Lol, that would be great too!
if you somehow have grease left in the cartridge your going to make a colossal mess removing the cartridge that way
Haha! It sounds like you know that from experience
Thanks for the tutorial and humidity tip
You’re welcome!
Is this the same when using a froth pak?
5 years later and hard drives haven’t improved one bit and got 10 bucks per tb more expensive lol
Is it good to hold your my music session ???
Excellent, but I will be fighting way more rust 2003 GMC North Ohio, and yes she runs and drives way tooooo good tooooo give up on her.
I paid for a pella which was also installed by pella and yet here I am watching this video. I wasted my money pretty much!
VERY Interesting!!!
Thank you for the vid. I like how you explained the cleaning. Awesome
You’re welcome! I’m glad it was helpful
Is that your original music on the guitar in the background? Impressive.
Unfortunately, it’s not. But I do really like that music.
Great video mate, thanks for posting.
Thanks, you’re welcome
Good vid. Just finished doing this to mine, except where would I find or what size is the nut on the tailgate door side that the hinge screws into? I have one missing.
Thanks for your video, you explain things very well. I have a couple questions. I recently opened a library that contains edits, sound etc on a new Mac, M1. The media clips, when clicked on, I see the "modify" option. Why is that and should I just go ahead and modify? Also, "voice isolation" box will not check so I am unable to use it. Any idea why? Finally, the project which opens in the timeline contains two clips with that dreaded red box warning. The sound is there but not the video. I tried relinking but FC is not able to find whatever is missing. I may try opening FC on the old computer and assuming I still have it there, will try to copy and move to the new Mac. I apologise for so many questions but this move to a much needed Mac has not gone quite as smoothly as hoped. Thanks for any help.
non chlorinated brake parts cleaner works great for cleaning also. it contains acetone, toluene, and a type of alcohol the censor wont let me type. carb and choke cleaner also.
Awesome, thanks for the tip. I’ll have to try that.
Thanks. Had mine disassembled 30 minutes after watching your video.
Great video! So many on youtube give unsafe advice, but yours was solid as far as I can tell (I'm not a roofer, just a DIYer that tries to do research and do things the right way). 1:44 You can also use strong magnets to locate a rafter without putting holes in the decking/shingles. Make sure they're strong enough to attract each other when there's a 2x4 in between them. I like the 1x3" rectangular ones, so you have a straight edge up against the rafter. Secure the magnets in the attic on both sides of the rafter, making sure they can't move. Then take two more up to the roof and move them around until they lock in place. To help find the general area in the attic, you can play some music on your phone, then place it on the roof where you want the anchor. Secure it by tying a line to a similarly weighted object and hang that over the ridge, or tie it around a vent etc. Or just measure if it's a simple layout. 4:39 You can use a roof snake to avoid tearing the last shingle, it's a lot easier than bending it back. To repair a torn one, you can cover the crack in roofing cement, then get some shingle granules from the gutter and put it over the cement to (mostly) blend in with the rest of the shingle. If you have some leftover shingles that haven't been used, that's even better since there won't be dirt mixed in.
Your channel is a gem, keep up the good work!
Thank you
