F-22 - Operational Relevant Revolutionary
zhlédnutí 2,1KPřed 16 lety
A recent promo video about the F-22 from Lockheed Martin. Recently the USAF has begun allowing pilots right out of pilot training to enter the F-22 pipeline. After students earn their wings, they are sent through Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals (IFF). If students selected for Raptors meet the required grades at IFF, they will then attend a short course in F-16s out at Luke AFB before headi...

The F-22 Raptor is a fifth generation stealth fighter aircraft. It was originally envisioned as an air superiority fighter for use against the Soviet Air Force, but is equipped for ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles as well. Faced with a protracted development period, the prototype aircraft was designated YF-22 and, as F/A-22 during the three years before formally ...
Beautiful song from "Letters from Iwo Jima" movie 硫黄島からの手紙
zhlédnutí 284KPřed 17 lety
On the waves of the Pacific, Down south from the Imperial city a small lonely islands floats. The fate of our imperial country Lies in the hands of this island, Iwo Jima. As long as we stand, We shall feel safe, As the imperial land shall forever be at peace. We shall fight with pride and honor at any price, Our proud island, Iwo Jima.

It was a hopeless battle for the Japanese although they fought well - as well as any soldiers in history. But attacking Iwo Jima was in hindsight a mistake, like Peliliu before it. If any good came from Iwo, it was to show the American military what an invasion of the Japanese mainland would entail and perhaps hastened the decision to end the war using the A-bomb.

Something about this scene really makes me tear up. And i think it has to do with the fact that the children have so much innocence in their voices. In war innocence is gone... Whatever form of it doesnt exist .but back home children carry Innocence with them.

those soldiers are crying because while they know that the minds of their children are in the grip of a propaganda fueled delusion, still they’ve failed their innocent, total faith in them. they weep that they are at all contrary to any vision their children have of them no matter how unrealistic and manipulated. Even more so, as the belief that they will be reunited with their triumphant fathers is the most illusory.

For me, it's the innocence of those children singing in an enthusiastic manner, joyfully even, but are truly unaware of their inevitable fate that's quickly closing in. It gets me all the time. I think this particular scene can be attributed to Japan's growing desperation to protect its empire as children as little as a 5 year old are being involved in the war that they don't even understand what it's all about.

they could very easily have protected their children by surrendering. they deliberately chose to sacrifice the lives of their children on the altar of their toxic notion of honor. Honor, not the wellbeing of their children, was their priority. Defend that if you want but don't obfuscate the moral question at hand.

If war was hell, there would be no innocent bystanders, but that doesn't happen. There are always civilians, children, the sick and wounded, pets, and many other people. And no one ever realises how much families have suffered from a cause that they believed in. History is bias, and usually doesn't state the crimes the winner has commited.

The USA baited Japan into an attack by sanctioning and cutting them off from natural resources needed to thrive as a nation let alone an empire. The USA wanted an excuse to get involved in WW2. From China to Europe. I personally believe that Pearl Harbor was allowed to happen. Ever wonder why our Air Craft Carriers were on an "exercise" elsewhere?
