Listen, I am not trying to defend bowman by any means but in his early years as gm he was quite good at his job and saying he's horrible cause of his later years is recency bias at its finest. Yes tallon built the 2010 team and he just inherited it but bowman had his fingerprints all over 2013 and 2015. Drafting, trading or signing guys like Stalberg, Leddy, Frolik, Shaw, Emery, Oduya, Handzus, Saad, Teravainen, Darling, Richards, Desjardins and the second stint of Versteeg were all good moves he made to get them 2 more cups in the 2010s after the 2010 cup run inherited from tallon. I really don't understand why people are still whining ab byfuglien getting traded to Atlanta. I mean when it first happened yes it was understandable but looking back on it there is no reason to be mad anymore since the hawks obviously won 2 more cups without him. All the other trades that were listed as bad do have decent points although they can't stay forever but the byfuglien trade i don't get why it is still so bad since they had so much more success without him

So you kinda miss-represented the main reasons for the Flames and Thrashers relocating. It wasn't the on-ice product or attendance (Though, that played a part) it was the owners. The Flames were owned by Tom Cousins, a businessman. In the late 70's he lost a TON of money in the Real Estate collapse. He sold the team to the highest bidder to save himself. Calgary outbid any potential local owners so the team relocated. The Thrashers were owned by "The Atlanta Spirit Group". They purchased the team along with The Atlanta Hawks and Philips Arena from AOL/Time Warner. Unfortunately, they were really only interested in Basketball and the arena. After years of suing each other over basketball operations, the Atlanta Spirit Group decided to sell the team. They specifically did not want the team to play in Philips Arena, so they were only interested in selling the team to another city. Enter Winnipeg. Thrashers attendance, while never stellar, was also never problematically bad. Despite being mostly awful, the team was never bottom of the league in attendance and outdrew NYI most years. They also outdrew Chicago, Boston, and Pittsburgh in some years. There are hockey enthusiasts in Atlanta... Probably more than you would assume. The local Adult hockey league is one of the largest in the country with somewhere around 80 teams. With the proposed new arena in the middle of where most of these players and other hockey fans live, a new team would thrive there. That is, as long as the owners actually wanted to own an NHL club.

I am from Georgia and I can assure you that won't fail again, if granted another franchise. you made a point that Atlanta because they lacked a strong hockey culture?? that's a complete strawman point and simply not true...just because a hockey team is located in the south, where hockey is not big as it is up north comparing to Minnesota, Michigan, New York, Boston. etc., doesn't mean it will fail and not be successful. Look at Tampa and Florida as examples. Tampa has been a playoff contending team for the past 6 years and won 2 stanley cups and Florida as well. Florida has improved throughout the years and made it to the Stanley Cup Last season and are in the hunt for the President's Trophy this season. Not only that, Carolina, another southern team, is a very solid playoff contending team! I will say this, you did mention that the location of the arena, was a problem and you are correct about that one. I remember it taking 50 minutes to an hour just to get to the arena with mild traffic and it sucked. and with this being said, the ownership interested in bringing a team back now just got approved to build their own arena for a potential NHL Team (Something the Flames and Thrashers NEVER did because they always shared the arena they played with the NBA Atlanta Hawks team) and not only that, the arena will be built in the northern suburbs where like 85-90% of the Thrashers & General Hockey fans live in the State of Georgia. so these plans to get an NHL team back in Atlanta are NOT INSANE at all! (They are planning to put a team in the suburbs like the MLB Atlanta Braves did with Truist Park; they built Truist Park based off of where the most Braves tickets sold and are planning the same approach for potentially getting another NHL team) the only major problem Atlanta had with the NHL was Horrible Management, both times (the Thrashers management was significantly worse than the Flames ever was & I would argue that Atlanta Spirit has to go down as one of the Worst Sports Ownership Group in History). so if Atlanta has a solid & stable ownership, along with managing their own arena, Atlanta will 100% Work!!

Honestly at first I was like how in the world are we on a "Worst GM" list but it is true that Rod the Bod Brindamour definitely has been overachieving with the players he has. I disagree with the 2019 picks of not taking Suzuki and Kotchetkov. Koochy has been a good goalie for us when given the opportunity and we never let Suzuki flourish.

To be fair about Alexander Svitov, he, along with Stanislav Chistov, were drafted into the Russian Armed Forces literally right after the 2001 draft while with Avangard Omsk. Their lack of playing time in the 2001-2002 damaged their careers beyond repair, so this was no coincidence One could wonder what could have been had the two never been drafted into the Russian Armed Forces. Ivan Fedotov would face the exact same circumstances 21 years later after signing his ELC with Philadelphia in 2022
