They are still there I believe.
The island was inhabited until the French came. By the way, I live on this island myself.

are you guys allow to travel, live and work within other contries in the european union?
If you have the work visa for it you can work. However the Language Assistant visa is confined to France but you can freely travel in the Schengen area
Thanks for this info, last question say u guys travel to europe and want to remain, are you allow to look for any job that? i'm black afro spanish, currently i live and work in the netherland, i can travel within eu and live and work in any of the countries, i recently discover Reunions never ever heard about it before, and looking forward to visit the island, it suprises me that euros is used in africa.@@belindaaddikah

How do get a work permit in reunion island's
I got it from French Embassy in Kenya - you could check out my blog, addikahbelinda.com and see if you qualify to be a language assistant from your country to work in Reunion

Is that the other side of the island were blacks live?
Blacks are relatively spread through out the island- I saw a good number when I lived in St Denis/Clotilde.
It’s good to know that so I know that when I come to reunion island, I always avoid Black people dangerous and thieves
