It intrigues me that this was 1976 & it was raining. You can see it raining as the train comes into the station. But I can therefore assume this programme was made either earlier that year before the long hot summer & drought or maybe later that year after it.

The central ident may have been either played out live to cover up zoom 2 ATV or it may have been rebaged i know autumn 84 it was central presents ATV where as spring 84 term it may have had the 83/87 central frontcap played out live

I was working in kirkby, had to laff we where in a shop and had a small generator on top of the van roof, next thing our drill stopped working and my boss ran outside, there where two lads running off with the generator, they ran into kwick save, and they where being chased up and down the aisle, they dropped it an ran off 😂😂

For 35+ years, I've been looking for this mini-series. The song has stuck in my head and none of my primary school mates remembered it. I watched in in 1986-1987 in my Neasden-based London school. Finally today, a mate from uni sent a link to these CZcams videos. Mate, thanks for posting and solving an intellectual cold case that's been brooding in me.

I knew Cantril Farm got a bad rap. Another new town with problem communities. I knocked about with a couple kids from care there. Weren’t bad lads just had a bad start)

I was just a kid, but I have remembered this contestant all these years because of the shaky water. My entire family loved her so much. We were laughing at the sounds she was making already but when she took that water in her shaking hands, we lost it. 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you for uploading these programmes onto CZcams. I have fond memories of my childhood watching these at school. I suppose it made it more special because we only had a black and white TV at home so seeing these programmes in colour was something magical.

The television we had at our school was huge thing on a stand with wheels ( Probably a Ferguson ) It also had lockable doors over the screen when it wasn't in use.

The 80s were pretty grim. When you had Thatcher in charge of the country what do you expect? Mass unemployment, miners strikes etc. And the only thing available for school leavers was a poxy YTS scheme which was just a ephemism for slave labour. Yes indeed the 80s were definitely grim from what I remember😂😂

There was a Picture Box episode on here a few years ago from Alan's last series (and in my opinion the last proper series of Picture Box) that was called Ben, Rosie and the Bear. Unlike the grainy old films in other Picture Box episodes, this one was really modern and on videotape and I don't know if it was filmed specially for the series, which would be unique

It's equally as bleak as the ussr in the 80s and 90s. Especially empty department stores with garments nobody wants.
