A few days ago, Capitol City Rail Productions was arrested for Allegedly derailing a BNSF Coal train for Updoots and clout. Thought I might talk about this incident and how it paints us railfans as a whole

At long last! I Finally went to the edge of the rust belt, Pittsburgh, Steel City. While I was there, I saw a BNSF ES44C4 Trailing behind a NS ES44AC pulling an intermodal train, but I had my tripod retracted at the time, so I wasn't able to get any video of it. Norfolk Southern Trains speeding through Macungie

Today I went to Macungie but due to a Rockslide all westbound trains were halted for the rest of the day. Since I had to be home by 5 PM I decided to go to Bethlehem where I saw NS H09 Parked on the bridge and about to leave. Disclaimer! I watched the video of the derailment many, many times and I heared the boy talking in the background. I just could believe that the boy would be responsible for causing this derailment. And trust me, he had gone too far and he will hugely for this. All he did was to cause this derailment and to get views. I really hope that his channel will be demonetized for that train crash. Even though, he tried to ruin the reputation of all trainspotters along with train crew. Keep up the perfect work out there, my friend, I just liked and subscribed your channel, Greetings from Portugal to the USA.
I've watched that video when it came out first. I knew something was off. Guess he's goin' to jail. No one should mess with trains, as it could be way worse.

This kid likely has ruined railfanning to some extent.. many rail crew already dislike the railfanners and have contempt for them.

The train that set out the hopper did so a couple of days earlier. To set out the hopper, that crew had to remove the padlock. I've heard no mention of what happened to that padlock. Whether the kid removed it or not. Whether it was even there. As for the kid parking and walking the area, all rail fans do that. All railfans also find out when trains are coming so they don't have to wait forever. There is no video...at least none that I've seen...showing the kid tampering with the switch. I'm not saying he didn't do it but I have yet to see any actual proof that he did and I think a good lawyer could get him off.
BNSF police say they have video evidence of him “allegedly” walking up to the switch and throwing it before leaving and coming back a couple hours later to film it

Same but considering that the suspect is still a minor and hasn’t even gone to court yet (to my knowledge anyway) I doubt they will for a while
The evidence will be presented in court. Prosecutors don't try their cases in public media.
Former maintainer here. Are you saying this kid moved the siding switch after the train took the last automatic, and had no idea until he saw the switch target?
yes. The kid allegedly walked up and threw the switch into the siding.

IM NOT a railfanner, but it seems to me the idiot threw a switch, the engineer missed the switch signal AND THEN the engine derailed. HE DID NOT derail the train. He is still a moron.

Can someone please show me the evidence that he actually did this. So far I have seen nothing to support the accusation, hearsay does not count.
They apparently canvassed the area for video and found out he parked at another grade crossing nearby, walked down and messed with the switch, and then walked back to his car and drove to the other crossing, where he set up to video the whole thing.
First there is his story, about removing a defective coal car and not realigning the switch, they would have still had to realign the switch to reconnect the two halves of the train. At worst they forgot to put the lock back on afterwards and he still flipped the switch. But I also want to see that video where he walked the tracks to the switch which hasn’t been made public and likely won’t until a FOIA request after a convection.
BNSF Police checked the surveillance footage and saw him throw the switch
they have security footage but have not released such to the public and may not until his sentencing or after.
Unless you're on the jury, I doubt you will see any real evidence for a good long while.
