It's nuts to think that just a week later, I saw Jamie open for Swans in PDX and, to the best of my recollection, he played the entire set accompanied by a single harmonium. I've been unable to find any similar footage on youtube in my attempts to fact-check this memory; but it was a very striking and memorable performance - similar to this, just.... with a harmonium. It was entrancing.
I saw Jamie on tour after all their gear got stolen in the back room of a tiny bar during a blizzard. He was the only act to show up to the venue, he wrote a list of all the songs he could play on the harmonium, and then handed the setlist to me to start passing it around. It's one of the most memorable shows I've ever seen. (I picked Jennifer Lopez to kick off the set)
Im in the front row with back pack and glasses. Crazy. Was the most haunting version I have heard live.
Do yo LOVE ME? JAMIE STEWART
heh the lyric changes
this kind of personal pain is the kind of thing i have wanted in the newer xiu xiu albums but i dont get (specifically how they seem TOO abstract compared to this direct pain)
magnificent... the drumming on this one takes my breath away.
The Copy Cat Building. Great show - was nice moving to Maryland from Portland and getting to see this amazing band one last time
Honestly, this wrecks me. The way he sings about these unbelievably traumatic issues to a sizeable crowd is astounding. Surpasses the original a million times over
‘His body is now ash’ -> fuck
Traumatic
this performance is great what the fuck
Luv this performance! Saw the same version in okc around the same time as this one. Best concert ever
ohhh my god
Beautiful. Thank you!! Namaste~
Incredible.
what a depressing night
Thank you so much for taping this! I was afraid I would never hear it again. Great quality too.
there's something really beautiful about the way his voice shakes as he sings.
whoa. the way jamie sings (in a really dumb way to describe it) is like he's driving a car so fast it might just crash into something. just.... wow.
oh man. :(
spooky that during August of 2012 Jamie asked fans to email him with reasons to live cause he said he was more depressed than he'd ever been.
When I look at my thighs I see death it's great I luv abortion I LOVE ABORTION Chilling.
Knife Play and A Promise and La Foret were experimental, and they rocked. This sucks. It's just really boring.
also, why would I almost go to a show I didn't get?
this was a bad performance of a good song, you hipster shit.
0:51
have you even HEARD the album version?
Fuck you, this is awful.
cant-stop-watching
oh my goodness wow
I almost went to this show, glad I didn't
Why?
Beautiful! My soul wells up with despair and guilt for having missed this show.
This is really catchy..and who's the thick white girl in red shirt that did the cartwheel with no hands? She's cute
It was a pleasure meeting a talent such as you today Sir! I look forward to watching your rise to stardom. Great stuff!
супер!
keep doing ya thing my dude
Temazo!! Caos sonoro organizado!!
fucking awesome tune, sounds a million times better live too.
was amazing... M.I.A. sucked!! i left after MIA's first song
Valerie Solanas was not a hero, or a feminist. She was an evil misandrist who even tried to murder Andy Warhol. Anyone who idolizes her is catastrophic.
Whazzup, Corey? You deciding to be a mole or a monk? No window? This looks more like a large walk-in closet than a room. I do like the projector idea, though.
Saw them live somewhere else but have to admit this looks and sounds better, I'm jealous.
COOL!
they were at a church? or is that a witty name for a club? great performance!
my favorite is clown towne
Had a long, unspeakably horrible week, and although this comment is a year old I had to reply, just to say it made me laugh and laugh. Thanks, ParticleMan!
she sings horrible.. but I totally LOVE THIS SONG!! (the one in the album)
WTF. Well needless to say that's quite interesting.
my first germs burn was in 1987... now i have a circle tat on my left wrist...
Did u get it from another member from the circle? You can only get one if someone from the band gives you one or someone that got one from the band.
rofl
After release from prison Valerie was in and out of mental hospitals regularly. She was crazy (its believed schizophrenic, paranoid, and suffering depression). Warhol took her only copy of the play she wrote and lost it. At her arrest she claimed, He had too much control over me. Yet I believe her when she said, Scum was a satirical literary device meant to elicit debate. The writing IS quite funny. It would be as foolish to take it literally, as it would to interpret the Bible such.
