Great video, very helpful.
Very good.
Still wonder how easily an XC40 centre console would fit… Get a usable console.
Would be interesting. There are quite a few design and engineering choices that are head scratchers like that. Gotta love Polestar
My polestar 2 sounds like there's a bass drum in the back anytime I go over road bumps. Do you experience anything like this? I'm contemplating sound deadening around the rear shock towers but have no idea if that'll help with anything.
Great review, man! Thanks! I'll go for Lorex now👍🏼
I have Lorex and have issues with the view, the bracket is at max 15 degree angel, doesn't show much where my doorbell is. I am also having issues with editing the light schedule. It can't distinguish between AM and PM. I also heard that the FCC is banning Lorex. Is it true?
For my Eufy setup, I got an additional bracket online that's adjustable to extend the angle since my doorbell is oriented 90 degrees from the door and the 15 degree wedge was good, but not optimal. There's an authorization ban on many companies that are Chinese based that prevent them from being used by government entities (think TikTok on government devices, and DJI drones) these do not affect residential users.
Has it made much difference?
I have noticed a difference, nothing will make it Rolls Royce quiet, but I tend to be very particular and notice the changes. I was curious about this exact question and did a bit of a test. Once the damping was installed, I also wanted to do a MLV (Mass Loaded Vinyl) application to block noise. I did the entire driver's side floor, front and back, and went for a drive. I did perceive that noise was then most obvious coming from the passenger side where there was no MLV applied. With a noise-blocker, it is important that there's as close to complete coverage as possible so I did the entire floor and do notice less vibration and droning sounds emanating from it since. It's a lot of work and may not be worth it depending on how long you plan to keep the car but for me, I appreciate the improvement.
@@Nick-dd7ps cheers
Would you make a video on removing a, b and c pillar trims?
In my 2024 Polestar 2, there's no intermediate panel behind the glove box. After lowering it there's just the door that the air filter sits behind. Is that a change they made in 2024, or is the panel missing in mine? I'm worried because I've been having trouble getting sufficient air out of the vents, there's almost nothing coming out even on the highest fan settings.
As long as the actual filter is sealed in there with a door or flap so that the blower is moving all the air through the filter, oppose to around, it is good. As far as air flow, I'd take a look to ensure the filter is in good condition and is OEM, check if the HVAC settings are on "Eco Climate" (shouldn't change air flow but worth a try), see if the airflow is selected to come out of the very top vents under the windshield (selectable through the climate menu), and make sure the vents are fully opened with the knurled knob on them. Aside from that, check the ventilation holes at the exterior base of the windshield, right below the windshield wipers to make sure they're free of debris.
@@Nick-dd7ps Thanks for the tips! Air filter is OEM (brand new car). Not sure what's wrong. I've checked all the things you mentioned but even with the fans ramped up (and there's a tornado's worth of fan sounds!) very little air is coming out of any of the vents. :/
@@lowfuel6089 Hmm sorry to hear that. Do you have more airflow coming out of any one or two vents in particular or minimal out of all (both upper and floor vents, left, right, and middle)? Might be interesting to drop the glovebox, run the fan and feel if there's any air escaping around the filter.
@@Nick-dd7ps I'll try that! As for the air, I've been playing with it and what I've found is: almost no air coming out by my legs, almost no air coming out on the driver/passenger side vents (yes, they're open), virtually no air coming out of the two vents behind the screen on the dash, and quite a lot of air coming out of the two vents below the windshield on the dash. These were all tested with the appropriate selection on the climate screen, and at various fan levels from lowest to max. There's a ton of fan noise, especially at the higher end of the fan speed selector, but where that air is going I have no idea because I barely feel anything... I should add, the two vents in back, open, have barely any air coming out either.
@@lowfuel6089 I know on mine, I turned off the airflow to the vents at the base of the windshield since it kept creating fog, also increased the airflow to the other vents but doesn't sound like that's the full solution for you. May also be worth a try to turn off the airflow and toggle the vent selection from the center screen climate display since they're electrically actuated and listen for anything abnormal. Thinking you may hear something if they aren't able to fully open or close and redirect the airflow, that could be restricting. Also may be worthwhile to pose this question in the forums www.polestar-forum.com/forums/united-states.66/. Best of luck though and let me know when you find a resolution!
Excellent review!
Thanks for the support!
I love that the process to replace the filter is tool-less! Do you know where the AC condenser is? I plan on buying a 2021 polestar 2 In a few months and the first thing I want to do is replace the cabin filter and spray the condenser with AC cleaning foam. Tesla, Audi and BMW recommend spraying the AC condenser whenever you change the filter, don't see why polestar would be different!
Condenser is right in the front to get airflow from the grille, has two fans mounted behind it to suck air through.
@@Nick-dd7ps is it under the filter?
@@iambenmitchell That may be where the evaporator is but I don't recall seeing anything when I changed. The condenser is located upfront under the hood/frunk
Which one is most reliable?
I would say it depends on your use case first. Is there hardwired power for the doorbell? If not, that will exclude the Lorex. I've had no issues with my Eufy and have not heard of any significant problems with any of these products.
I’m still confused which one I should get 😢
I suppose it depends on your needs and application. If you don't have hardwired power, that will exclude the Lorex. Do you have an entrance where you need very good vertical FOV? That might be a pro for the Swann. Alternatively, if you need good audio recording, that would be a con of the Swann. Depends on how your priorities rank but I do like the Eufy offering as a good all-around performer on battery.
I'll tell you what, my friend, I'm a 72-year-old man who has been inside a few car doors in my time and I don't think I've personally ever witnessed one better build than that one... If I hear a slight rattle in my new P2... I'll just turn the radio UP!! ;-)
What do you think about what Nest has to offer?
Hi, can you make a video of how to replace the polestar sun visor? I have a polestar 2 2021 and need to replace it, I already have the ordered part but no clue how to remove
Thanks for the feedback, I'll look into it!
There's a c-shaped plastic cover over the bolts holding it to the roof. Pop that off, then remove the bolts. There's a plug connecter hidden about 4cm 'into' the ceiling liner..fish around with your finger and pull it out, then just unplug the damaged visor. Plug the new visor in, push the power connecter back into the liner, and just reverse the removal process. It's eash..don't be afraid to pull on teh wires to get to the connector!
Are you going to do any thing with the wheel arches? I followed your videos for front and back seats this weekend, and also dit the trunk. But the wheels has me at a loss...
2:38 Thank you for showing this. I was concerned about just pulling at it, but after seeing this I gave it a try and it just popped right off :)
Could you do a video taking apart the glovebox?
I do have a video that shows the glovebox czcams.com/video/JgJI8oTym5g/video.htmlfeature=shared Was there a particular part you were curious about? It is mostly just the container, divider, and trim piece on the side.
I just installed the 4K Lorex doorbell camera as part of my new Lorex Fusion system. It’s only been in use for about a month but so far, I’m very satisfied. Easy to install and setup and it has great color night vision in my well lit front door area.
Excellent! Glad you found a solution that works well for you. How have you enjoyed the fusion integration and other cameras?
@@Nick-dd7ps - Yes, I’m completely happy with the Lorex Fusion system. The system I have has 16 channels, 8 Wi-Fi and 8 POE. I already had an existing, smaller Lorex system and I was surprised that my old POE cameras worked with the new system, I wasn’t expecting that. Installation and setup was easy. I also bought one of those new Lorex panorama cameras, I’m really happy that as well. Have a great weekend!
@@randerson4383 im planning on getting that panoramic camera as well, would you recommend it? Does it look really big once its mounted?
@@teaitout - I really like the panorama camera, it works as advertised and it’s actually pretty small, the size doesn’t bother me at all.
How long can it record, I have the ring and for some reason this never record the even I'm looking for, I have the lorex fusion cameras and I'm happy with them
I'm always a fan of Polestar 2 content! I am considering purchasing used polestar leather seats and replacing the weavetech seats. Probably not immediately but something I'm thinking about depending on how this summer goes. I know this was specifically regarding sound deadening, but curious if you had any thoughts on seat replacement altogether
Physically, I can’t anticipate a major problem there. The main thing is the door trim and armrest won’t match if that’s a big deal. I assume the heated seats will still work but the ventilated seats won’t since the weavetech didn’t have that option programmed in, meaning really no way to activate them. The mounting bracket is the same, so feasibly they could be installed. Let me know if you decide to do it and how it goes!
The only fair comparison would have been if you had used all doorbells on battery or wired and for comparison the latest Eufy doorbell (E340) in line with the latest from the Swan and Lorex.
Absolutely, that would have been ideal, this was a 4k doorbell comparison and Lorex only offers 4k in their wired version. Just wanted to include the Eufy 2k since I already had it and it's a very popular and long-standing model.
@@Nick-dd7psYou put in a lot of effort in the review so still very much worth watching 👍
I wish you formatted your video better. In full screen mode you only get 13rd of the video. You should of rotated your video in post production
Hey Kyle, that's actually how the Swann and Lorex record their video so that you can see a person from top to bottom when close to the doorbell. Unfortunately there's no way to change the view ratio on them, it's built in and I wanted the finished video to reflect how they record in reality. If a wider/more normal FOV is important, a ratio like the Eufy has would be most applicable. Thanks!
@@Nick-dd7ps thanks! Crap it doesn’t record in a normal 16:9 format.
@@Nick-dd7ps thanks! Crap it doesn’t record in a normal 16:9 format.
The Swann camera sucks. The camera is poorly situated or mounted inside the case, and the reason you can see the actual casing. Also, the sound quality is horrible.
It is definitely a unique design from the other options out there. Completely agree with the audio quality, it's terrible.
Hi Nick, I just got the polestar 2 single motor long range and realised that the door welcome light is an optional extra (so stupid for such a high cost and they didn't include it). Are you able to direct me as to where the electrical cable of the door light goes to? There's a hole for my door but I need to see where the cable goes to. Then I can just buy some lights and install them myself. More videos about polestar mods would be great. Thank you again
Thanks for reaching out. It actually splits off from the main wiring harness on the interior door card. You can see the light housing and cable at the 16:00 mark. I'm not certain what the single motor wiring would look like so hard to judge the ease of an install. Best of luck and let me know if it's a success!
You have to do maintenance on the unit early if your water is hard.
Harder water will necessitate more frequent cleaning as you said. The timelines mentioned in the video were provided by a Rinnai rep so I always recommend checking with your local contact who would be more familiar with your water source.
Did all this work give a noticeable result?
It definitely is a lot of work. If you're someone who really notices sound changes, then yes. It does make the doors feel more substantial and reduces speaker transmission to the outside world by reducing transmission through the door. However, there is still wind noise from around the door and window, as well as airborne transmission through the tempered glass, this becomes more prominent.
Let me know if you would like more Polestar 2 content!

Wasnt cleanin hot water heater but kept gettin code 63, bad flow. After drainin it and tryin to get some of the crud out after pluggin back in didnt get in use light either and still code 63. Did this, blew it out with a can of air. Got it working for now will see how long it lasts. 22 year old Rinnai unit so will prob need to replace soon but gave me hot water till the plumber can come out. Thanks for showin this.
Glad it helped you, hopefully yours will continue to last!
I decided to clean my hot water heater late in the evenin and this exact issue happened. You just saved my life. I've ten kids and I think they would have lynched me in the morning if we didn't have any hot water. We have very hard water here in Clermont county, Ohio. I have to clean my hot water heater every six months.
Thank you for saving my marriage this morning
Howd you feel about the weight add on a CTS? Ive got a CTS also, and this bar is heavier than expected, debating even using this one
Interesting question, the weight of the actual bar isn't enough to make any noticeable difference.
I just put it on and lost a nut on the opposite side 😂😂 . NGL I was saying how'd you lose a nut watching the video. I now know 🤦🏼♂️
The hard reset (unplug/wait 15 seconds/plug-in) did the trick for me. When you hear the humming and you can see the blue flame through the little window you know it's good to go. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Nick. Had the same thing happen to me today. After flush, no ignition whatever and no discussion a nowhere about how to correct it and nearly spent all day on diagnosis. Had it working within 20 min of reviewing your post. Calling the tech to cancel the appointment right now. May good Kharma come to you for sharing!
Is there any movement from front to back once installed? I noticed it has heim joints which would lead me to think there would be some play.
Tons of play in mine. I installed it today. Disappointed unless I can get it tight.
As a HVAC/R Mechanic I have descaled a lot of tankless water heaters over the years. The advice that you received to not descale yearly and to wait for an error code is simply not true. After watching this video I actually called Rinnai tech support to see if their procedures had changed and they said absolutely not. Not following the annual recommend maintenance procedures may not only harm the unit but may also void your warranty.
Do you have to drain the unit before unscrewing the union? Or can I just close the valve for cold water?
Thanks for the video! I have a problem on my rinnai condensing water heater. I flushed it today and after doing it, even when heater is not running, there is a steady flow of water from condensing pipe. What to do to fix it. Thanks!
This was a life saver! Thank you for the video!!
what Model number do you have?
how do you remove the coupling under the pin wheel?
Well if it wasn’t for this video I’d be up a creek without a paddle. I had the same issue, but different brand of water heater . I did like you said , took me maybe all of 5 minutes. Put it all back together and what do you know I have hot water.
Thank you for posting this, with such an accurate description of the part and what to do. I was experiencing exactly what you described and your recommendation worked!
This video saved my butt thank you
That's called a turbine , if it does not turn the unit won't recognise that there is water flowing. also the system wont show an error code when this occur . Also good to check the 80 micron filter just at the water inlet which can get blocked , ( situated behind the Black plastic plug at the water inlet ) LC only comes up if the water quality is an issue , as lime, calcification in the heat exchanger will reduce water flow and raise the temperature in the heat exchanger due to reduced heat transfer to the water . P/S . need to be careful using a wire to loosen the turbine as they are easily damaged , better to do a back flow , by removing the filter , disconnect the hot water outlet , and connect a water hose to it and flush it back .
So I have probably an older version but after removing the outer attachment I can’t seem to pull out the pinwheel. I tried with fingers and needle nose but it at least doesn’t come out easily and I’m a bit nervous to pull too hard. I have of course the sporadic problem where it usually works but then occasionally won’t trigger it on. This sounds promising and I’m blowing air up there and cleaning of what I can’t seem to reach. But seems like it would be nice to remove it and inspect and do a really good descaling. Any tips appreciated.
We did 2 flushes first with vinegar, but once we reset the code inside the box . 2 little black buttons we pressed simultaneously for 10 seconds it was fine for 8 hrs then back to beeping with LCO code and no hot water . We did a second time with the haymaker cleaning solution , and reset the code, flushed the system out and checked the pin wheel . Woke up and cold water , and beeping with LCO . I don’t know what else to do.
Sounds like a lot of maintenance. Flushing, descaling, flow sensor cleaning, pull this off, change this out..... I'll stick with my traditional tank water heater thanks. I turn on the tap, I get hot water. Simple.
