Welcome to our second CZcams channel, Off The Path With Kevin! Our main channel, Paving New Paths is about our family life and adventures! This channel will be about everything else Kevin enjoys, so if you like ranching, big equipment and everything in between, this is the place for you!
Maybe you did this but i wonder if putting a lid on the 5 gal bucket would extend the working time at all. Also maybe doing it in cooler weather.
Once you mix the two parts it starts doing it's thing! Sure a lower temperature might buy you a few more minutes but your not stopping the science of what's happening once you start!
this is one of the best videos I have seen on starting from scratch, I am so jealous lol, love how everything is neat and still has room to walk, the fan and lighting was a great idea (add some insulation on roof for heat reduction), the table was another great idea, thats a MUST! there's always need for a table to fix something or even paper work( you can even buy a foldable table to set up on the job, you also got some serious equipment there bro, no joke (Where's the power washer tho?). All the ideas were brilliant, kudos to you and all who helped. This is what I called professional !!
Thank you! We tried to plan everything out to set us up for success! We also believe if you are using your equipment to earn money you should buy the best! Since we never do unplanned pressure washing, it stays at the house until we need it for the day! Then we load it up and strap it down just like the mower!
Important question. Is the lighting RGB? Looks like a nice trailer setup. I never thought of putting that kind of floor coating in a trailer. In my setup I mostly run SCAG as well. I decided to get rid of my multihead system and replace with dedicated units.
My lights are just white but you could install RGB or what ever you want and it would still work the same! I love SCAG Mowers, I have dedicated trimmers and edgers and the PAS power heads are just for backups and mostly cleanup work!
Add the horse trialer mat material for the flip down on the door at the back. It will protect the door when open. Loved the video.
That's actually a great idea and I have some left over from the project!
Looks awesome. Good job Kevin. Great choice. ❤
Thank you!
Between the house and the trailer, you are a glutton for sanding punishment.
I have been doing a lot of sanding lately!
UP!
Thanks!
Put a piece of aluminum angle on the ramp flap so the aluminum lays on the ground.
That is a really good idea! I need to do something soon!
Looks outstanding. I plan on doing my garage as soon as we get cleaned out. Just moved in April and it is stuffed to the brim.
We have done this to every garage we have owned and we love it!
@@OffThePathWithKevin I was considering having it done, but after watching your video I am going to do it myself. It is a new house so hopefully it will go smoothly. 😉
Beautiful job! Great suggestions on the product use. Best of luck in your news endeavor! Wow... tons of changes for your family in the last year! That will need a montage at years end!
Thank you! Maybe we will have to montage it up!
Is that slick when it’s wet? I slip on mine and it’s just wood, just curious cause I want to do this to mine!
I think without the flakes it would be slick. So far no issues when mowing wet getting myself or the mower in the trailer!
Good job, great information.
Thanks!
Nice Job! 🎶🌈
Thank you!
I did the Rhino liner in my enclosed trailer it took a few months but it started to peel up in spots. That looks good.
So far we have been mowing for a few months and it looks just as good as the day we did it! Will keep you updated on how it holds up!
Love the new floor! Makes the trailer looks a lot more better. How long did it take in all to do this project? We all most put that in my garage. We be ready to see more of this series. Have a great day!
Just the floor took a couple of hours to prep with sanding! And about 2 to apply the coating from start to finish!
@@OffThePathWithKevin ok thank you
thank you God Bless
Thank you!
I've seen some toss the flakes in the air to even out the flakes
I tried all kinds of methods, but the tossing up spread them out the best!
I'd put a rubberized material on the small piece bottom that flips on the tailgate to protect the side that touches the ground/concrete. That should help save that extend the life of it. The flooring solution looks great. Just hope it's lawn mower/equipment friendly over time.
So far we have been using it for a month and it has held up great! Time will tell how it will hold up over time!
Looks great definitely considering doing this with my trailer! Mine is 24' would you recommend just doing 2 or even 3 batches because of how fast it dries?
Thanks! One kit does 400sq ft so one box will do you even after you factor in the door! Just make sure you have help and do it in 30 min or less! If you can't I would consider mixing one batch at a time otherwise it will start to set up on you!
Put a piece of metal striping on the underside of the fold out flap on your trailer. that will keep the wood from wearing down. Could use diamond plate to make it look good. :D
Diamond Plate is a great idea!
Now you have another job you can do for folks. Garage floor restoration.
You will see me do this to our garage and shop floor soon!
Last time you'll see it that way. I tried on my shed with vehicles.
We have installed this in every garage we have had and it held up great! Prep is the most important part in these type of coatings lasting!
I have always used coppertox It’s a good treatment for wood. Used it on shrimping trawl boards on small boats. Any wood that will be subject or submerged in a wet environment. It can be painted over. Good on decks, docks, piers bulwarks, fence post basically any wood that is in wet conditions
Never thought about that! But we had the same intended end result with the poly floor! We just don't want wet wood ever!
TIME FOR A TRUCK WINCH !!!
Not sure it would have helped much in this situation!
Trailer floor (and walls) look great! So are you leaving the ranch to concentrate on your new lawn care business?
No never! The ranch is part time 2-3 days a week and the rest of the days I am running the landscaping trailer! At some point as it grows I may have to reduce my ranching days but we will deal with that when the time comes!
Hey hey my brother, looking awesome. Great video. I'll give you a little pro tip if you ever decide to do it again. Take a hand held fertilizer spreader, toss your flakes in it and boom, super easy and awesome control over the disbursement of the flakes. Can't wait to see more my friend.
Never thought of that! I though half the fun was creating your own flake patterns!
@@OffThePathWithKevin me too. And once in a while when we're doing garage epoxy we get a customer that wants/thinks it all needs to be completely uniform. I like your method because it adds dimension and character.
Plus I had to hide some of my imperfections with extra flakes!
Great video brother, will be doing this 👍🏻
Thanks! Remember move quick that 45 min suggestion is no joke!
Awesome job
Thanks!
Looks great can't wait to see how it holds up
So far we have been mowing for a few weeks and it's holding up great!
Hay Kevin I wonder if they have something like they use on truck bed railing to protect the edge of that ramp that contacts the ground. Like a metal strip.
Someone suggested rubber, which is a great idea!
That does look good. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Love that floor so much we put it in our garage!! Good job on it.
Our garage and shop will eventually get the same treatment!
@@OffThePathWithKevin very nice!! This product is so nice looking and durable.
Awesome job, it looks really good! I think I'll try it out. Thanks for the video and information. I like your channel. 🎉
Thanks! Glad you enjoy the channel!
Great video, that trailer looks to clean to cut 😂😂😂 a lot of great ideas for a trailer. I have an open trailer for now. Thinking about a close one later on down the road. One more thing you can add to the trailer is a stationary area for a vice to sharpen your blades all so one more thing those types of racks that you can used to strapped down your mower, so it doesn’t move when you travel. Thanks
We run several set of blades and we have a place at the house to sharpen them! Since this video we have installed Xtracks in the floor for strapping the mower down while driving!
This is so confusing. Who buys a black trailer in Texas? Black absorbs heat and white reflects. Why start a landscaping business in July? Most people who need it are already under contract. Starting early Spring makes more sense. That is a lot of startup cost when the season is 1/2 over. Landscaping is seasonal, so you have given up opportunity cost on the cash or incurred debt when there won’t be much earnings in late fall and winter.
I know you may not understand this but this trailer was built and has been working for months now! Nothing on CZcams is real time, usually a delay from when it was filmed! There is also no season in Texas for landscaping, you can service customers year round here!
If you get gas on the floor. Don't wipe it with a rag. The flakes will get smeared. And break clean is bad also.
Thanks! I try to do all gas activities outside the trailer just to keep thinks from spilling in the trailer!
Just a suggestion, but maybe put a piece of rubber on the bottom side of that door flap
That floor looks awesome 😊
Thank you! that's actually a great idea!
@@OffThePathWithKevin my trailer had big rubber dots across the rear that have help up pretty well. Snag up a chunk off retread off the highway that will work.
My door has those that rest on the ground but nothing on the flap!
I was just gonna suggest that also!
👍
Thanks!
Great Job and Great Look! Nice, simple, catchy decals also. Be sure to wear ear protection. I mow 4 acres that I own, and those engines put out some decibels.
Thanks! I always wear ear protection!
Eye protection as well. Crazy what flies around once you start those machines. It mostly flies into your face.
Get a gas caddy much nicer than a ton of gas cans
Those are nice but not what we need for our business! Maybe at the house to fill up the cans we take with us, but not something I would want in the trailer!
Holy crap....I thought it was gonna be a used type setup all of the way around and you dun went Big Leagues on the entire setup!!! Very organized, great looking top notch equipment!
Thank You! We don't do anything halfway! When we decided to start the business, we wanted to do everything the right way!
@@OffThePathWithKevin yea buddy...If you rolled up to my house and I saw your rig You'd be HIRED!!
Damn!
Thanks!
That's a very nice trailer!
Thank you!
Wow, that looks amazing!!!
Thank you!
who stacked up all the burn piles
Boss man did a while back! They had access to a dozer for a while, so he got to work
Wow I’m very happy for you! You did very well on the battery powered function! Can wait for the step by step video 😮
Thank you! That video will be coming out soon!
Looks nice.. especially like the floors and lights. I didn't know you could use the floor stuff on wood. Good luck!
Thank you! I had gave up on the idea because I didn't think it could go on wood either! turns out it can go on many different surfaces just depends on the prep!
@@OffThePathWithKevin You'll definitely have to keep us updated on how it holds up!
NIce set up. I retired from Corporate America 1 year ago after a 25 year career. Got sick up the crap!!! Having the time of my life. I just bought my first stander.....Wright 36" for the stpid tiny gates. Ha. Good luck....I am sure you will do fine
I have a space open for a gate sized mower, but so far we have been targeting big yards with no gates and it's worked out! If I need to get one likely a 36" scag vride stand on!
Good stuff! Brings back memories when I started my landscape business about 8 years ago (still in business).
Thank you!
Why not go with battery set up instead of gas?
Battery setups may work for personal use or in urban areas with smaller yards! But when you are mowing as a business especially in rural areas where our properties are 1-5 acres you need to be able to make it through the day! Gas is cheap and the upfront investment to have all electric equipment and the ability to make it work for you is just not worth it! SCAG doesn't currently make an apples to apples electric mower but Exmark does! The Lazer Z in gas is 14K the Lazer Z in electric is 40K! In no world does that investment every pay off I can buy 3 mowers for the price of one!
