You just got your oily fingers all over your cards …ugh

Once trading card price guides came out, I always wondered why the first card and the last card in pretty much all vintage sets were worth a very significant premium over other cards, even if the player on the card was not a star. Then I saw an episode of a classic television show- cannot recall which one- in which several kids were trading cards to complete their sets. Every single kid had their stacks of cards held together with rubber bands. Every single one. I then realized that cards held together that way would result in damage to the front and edges of the card on top- which would almost certainly be the lowest number card in the stack- and damage to the last card in the stack- which would almost certainly be the highest number card in the stack.

The kid is just inches from grabbing and ruining cards. As well as a distraction from the keen anticipation of the break. Oh well, worked out ok, I guess.

What grade did you receive ?

This era of GAI is known to be sketchy so buyer beware even if this pack is good, which I'm not convinced of. Also due to the thinness of the packs and bad QC at Topps, it's not uncommon to open the wax only to find a VG-EX card with a nice crease in it.

Crazy that I went to a local card show years back......might be 10 years or so and a dealer was selling these for $30/box. Bought 3 and did get Kobe Rc's and even his Best Cuts refractor insert......if I held on to these would of probably got $10k for the 3

That was intense for sure! I am so happy for you,because those boxes are pretty hard to find. I regret that I only bought one box, still have it 26 years later, but it is time to sell it as i need the money. I hope you continue to pull treasured pieces of art. I have some pretty nice boxes I have held onto, unfortunately I need an automobile, so it's time to sell. I am glad you got that Kobe, and I wish it would have been the atomic refractor!
