Grace Kelly Highlights
zhlédnutí 37KPřed 15 lety
Grace Kelly is a saxophonist, singer songwriter, composer/arranger from Brookline, Massachusetts. Having studied saxophone since the age of ten, she is rapidly making her way up in the jazz music world.
One of the greatest ever
Smokin Towner
I’ve seen a lot of great musicians but if i had to pick I think Kenny Garett is the best I’ve ever seen. He’s a monster on the horn. I’ll never forget the energy he bought and the intensity. North Sea jazz fest i think it was 06
Majestic jazz
Met him and Kenny Kirkland in San Diego in the late 90's at one of the last Street Scene events. As a VERY amateur jazz sax player, I was basically blown away. I've chatted with sax players after their gigs, like Branford Marsalis, but there is just something very special about the real KG!
What's really cool about this video is that while Grace Kelly was considered amazing as a teenager back when this was uploaded, unlike many "child prodigies" who burn out by the time they reach adulthood, Grace has only grown and developed in her genius. And having met her in person once, she's a sweet person as well. I also think her voice has gotten as good as her sax playing.
Which recording is playing in the beginning? It's the impaler but in trio
From his album Megawatts.
He goes everywhere but Africa? WTF?
love it!!
There's always plenty of "drum excitement" when Tain is on the bandstand.
Fab Jeff, fab!
Here is another example of how no matter how much we try to analyze the drumming, or describe what we are doing, WORDS just are not the vehicle needed to convey the idea of the what and the why of the actual music. The only thing is the music, but we continue to attempt to clarify the art via spoken language. Like trying ti hear colors. Can't we see how futile that is? The map is not the territory.
You have to talk when you're in an interview.
+Miles Barnett ----No, you don't. Maybe You do, maybe you could thinkOUTSIDE your box.
Even when I suck, I'm really, really trying ! Made me laugh out loud.
She's goooooood.....
Words of incomparable wisdom! Serve the music before the musician. I love it!
Jeff 'Tain' Watts saying "I suck". Man, I wish I sucked like that.
splitsecond92 @ - I think you'r wrong, she's just naturaly attractive young woman.
That's deep Black from the ground up!
towner is my band teacher
It's a cap.
Is he wearing a hat or is that just hair?
It's called a Kufi.
my band director was his band director!!!
@dhineshadrian Jeff Watts is great! Buy the band a drink and rap with him. I did!
The name of the song is "Beautiful". Check out another artists' Rock song. CZcams and type in Best of Grace Loxstep
Wow!...would love to have a drink with this guy and talk drums for hours!...one cool cat....
@splitsecond92 I think she's just getting into it. People sometimes fake this to try to look sensual, but I think she's genuine. She's only a kid.
The new killing bebop lady in sax...!!!!!!!
TOWNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kenny, reeddy, saxy, groovy, 1000 Grammy for KENNY.
Oh, excellent blowing!!
i seen him in 92 at kimballs with branford over in oakland, man he was amazing
Garrett is so damn soulfull, especially when he goes into the lower register.
Can we find this on mp3 somewhere? This is the best performance recorded ever of this tune!!
Where can we find this video?
hah never thought of that.. you're right!
1:15 to 1:25 reminds me a dj on turntables

this thursday for me!
I saw Branford Marsalis 4tet 8 years ago & I was sitting less than 10 feet from Jeff and all I can say to try to express with words what I felt is it's like it was yesterday:unforgetable memory!!!!!!!! and I'm not a drummer! one of the best musical events I've been blessed to witness... 8) Thanks for the post...great itv.
It was nice !
me too :)
I am going to listen her tonight.....Greetings from Serbia !
Wow, now you guys are just raging, and that quote is immensely gay. But what I said still stands, alot of times the musicians start playing notes that don't fit with anything else they've played, they're just trying to be conspicuous or make notes that stand out but don't contribute to the song in any way.
Those born to crawl can't fly.
Awesome musician:)
How is this guy? Watts will be one of those giants that wiill be mentioned in the same breath as Tony Williams....Roach Elvin etc. He's top shelf of course, but obviously a down to earth man, honest ,intelligent and a musician of Jazz who continues the all important tradtion.... .Living Legend. Oh..and an excellent interview by all concerned. Many Thanks
Time to ditch the hat....getting old, she looks much better without it, it was a great gesture at the time but a bit predictable that she would start wearing it 24/7
