How far did the truck go with the lance on top? You’re about 1000 pounds over payload…

So how’s it been?
Thanks!
Is it Denali or Frontier models? Both have magnetic lenses
I don’t if this question will reach to you, but did you guys kept the actual tailgate door on your truck or you had to remove it to fit the camper?
We had to remove it
Hey thanks for posting! Say, I'm considering getting an F150 and dropping a hard-sided truck camper in the bed. Obviously, I'm looking for a light truck camper, but also wanted to know which F150s (years, engines, packages, etc.) would be best to easily handle the payload/weight? Crew cab is what I'm looking for. Thanks!
Unimaginable,creepier at night!!
It was pretty creepy at night. Definitely makes me want to make sure I never go to prison.
@@TheVagabondGeneFamily I would not want to either.
I’ve had these for 3 years so far. I bought these because I liked the sunglasses. They aren’t a popular name brand but they are LEGIT! I have this exact setup with the case. Eventually I may buy a name brand but in the mean time these ski goggles are great. Hardly any fog and the magnet holds up! My only complaint is the SHADY RAYS logo on the head band.
I’m not sure. Sorry
1:08 it’s probably just me. But it looks like the truck is bending in half!
Super
I just got the 32 oz lupine. I just love it!
I love Chase Field, and hope that it gets the necessary repairs done. Seen many great ballgames there, including the 2017 NL Wild Card game, and most recently, USA vs. Mexico!
Wowww good place
Thanks for a fantastic peaceful tour. The queen's hamlet was lovely and the hall of mirrors magnificent
Amazing the amount of concecession stands on the concourses...puts our football stadiums here in the UK to shame....Go the D,Backs..
What’s the payload of the truck, weight of the camper and the average fuel mileage with the camper? Looking to get my spouse and F-150 between 2010-2018 and looking for the best fuel mileage and reliability. She wants a truck camper with it but doesn’t care much about power
we went to Versailles in March a few years ago - very cold but the place was practically empty.
Per Lance website, 650 dry weight 2061 lbs and wet weight is 2264 lbs.being an older model it may be lighter, but not too much. The truck’s payload maxes at 1700 lbs before options added. That payload is to include the passengers. The family is very fit so 4 people for 600 lbs. bikes at 30 lbs each for 150lbs, bike rack, food drinks coolers, gear…… this truck is going to be well over 1250 lbs overloaded. I despise companies like Lance that advertise these as 1/2 ton campers. As of 2015 the F150 became payload king but even a 2wd short bed crew cab didn’t have over 3,000 lbs payload capacity. That is a 2 wd regular cab longbox (8ft, this camper doesn’t fit) with the 5.0 litre. This truck is prior to all the aluminum panels. The airbags are why the truck is level, but the springs, frame, transmission etc is not designed for this weight. Blow an airbag and it will be a critical situation. Have to make a manoeuvre to avoid an accident at high speeds and the steering,,,, it will be critical. Don’t injure anyone in another vehicle.your insurance will pay them, but may come back on you for overloading your truck. Just saying this so you are very careful about it. At 2260 lbs wet, this camper is for a 3/4 ton, not a 1/2 ton. Lance are irresponsible for advertising this as a 1/2 ton camper and allowing people not used to hauling things or understanding payloads to think this is ok. The airbags don’t make it ok and will be identified somewhere that they cannot increase the maximum payload on the truck. They are for stability. You want your truck level when loaded as well, not raked to the front. If there’s rake your arse end is 2-3” too high and affecting the centre of gravity negatively. It doesn’t help handling at that point. Sorry to the owners. This is no criticism on yourselves. This is on Lance, the airbag installer (if they’d said it will make your truck ok). Anyone who said this setup is ok has not been a true friend to you. They may know less than you even, so shouldn’t be offering advice possibly. I don’t know your circumstances. I would even consider a 1 ton for this weight just because it will handle this load really nice without modifications to the truck. Please stay safe. I have a F150 SuperCrew Tremor 3.5 EcoBoost. It has the 2.0 kw Pro Power Onboard. I haul an 1100 lb Rayzr FK truck camper fir my use. It would never work for your family. I haven’t altered the suspension at all. I didn’t level the truck etc, I left it as is to take advantage of the excessive looking rake the new F150 can have. It is still slightly raked when loaded. I have few options so my payload is just over 1700 lbs. I toe a enclosed cargo trailer that weighs no more than 3500 lbs fully loaded and is generally around 2200 lbs with my inflatable fishing boat, motors and gear etc. that’s another 220 - 350 lbs on the hitch. Once I’m in there, at 200 lbs my wife, at 100 lbs may or may not put us just overloaded,,, (our joke as she says it is that it’s my fault and so on). We are operating in safe limits. The trailer is a tandem with brakes on both axels. I still would hate to have to swerve to miss another vehicle at near highway speeds. I drive slower than the maximum limit and stay around 62 mph or 100 kph on most of the roads we travel. I can’t begin to imagine driving with a camper double the weight of mine!
Yeah! Don't listen to the salesmen on this - it's too important. It is a little tricky to find all the pertinent weights for the camper, the options, the add-ons for the suspension, the tongue-weight of your boat, the tail-gate you took off, your wife's actual (not published) weight, etc. Things add up quick. This is not something to wing. Do all the homework. Happy roads!
No views of the inside seriously???
As I have learned more about what you are doing from David I am impressed that you took this challenge on and with commitment and desire have now accomplished it. There is so much to learn and enjoy from your life and adventures. Keep on. Thank you. Love you all.
Thank you. It was definitely harder than we thought it would be but it was so worth it. It seems like everything that is really worthwhile takes some amount of dedication, work and sacrifice.

this does not seem feasible if you want to abide by gvwl guidelines. f150 cannot carry lance 650 wet weight (2200lbs) and still be under the gross vehicle weight limit. video has bicycles and then after adding passengers you would be over weight by hundreds maybe even a thousand pounds. ive been researching and trying to do this exact setup. please correct me if i am wrong and provide evidence of your claim.
Only way an F150 can carry that camper is to get and F150 XL with Heavy Duty Payload Package. As you guessed you typically add 1000 pounds over optioned wet weight of camper to get a realistic number of what you will be carrying. I had a few rvs and being over Payload doesn't make it fun but requires expensive suspension and tire changes but you can't change frame thickness nor axle casting thickness and rear bearing design.
@@slmjake my understanding is, no matter what you do to an f150, it will never legally be permitted to carry that camper; personal preference aside, no trim, wheels, tires or suspension will ever change GVWL of the ford f150 chassis'.
@Route1 sir almost true except for the F150 with HDPP. That us why Cruise America rents these special order trucks with a lance 650...because the OEM says it is built and legal to do so. Check them out.
Thats only a 4x2 config as well right?
@@paulbaird1351 i only did 4x4 research myself but i do recall the 4x2 having higher weight specs
I learned nothing from this video.
For those referencing this video for hiking preparation, this is the Grandview trail to Hance Creek trail. This is not New Hance trail.
I know you didnt camp, but anyone reading comments...in Hancock, there is a free pavillion just a round the corner with water, electric, restroom...(Sheetz also within sight)...around from C&O Bicycle Shop on the paved WM Rail Trail. Bike Shop has a place to sleep too but for a cost.
At 1:50, nice camping spot at Potomac Forks hiker biker campsite but no cell service. Mp 165ish
1:39 looks like your saddle still too high. Lots of times we can't see it ourselves. Video helps.
That’s cool you noticed. Ended up with minor achilles strain due to the high saddle. I’ll be more careful next time.
There's a ramp going to the other side that continues the canal path at mp 1 area... @ 6:50 ... Avoids those steps. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Hi where is that screen video photo of gargoyle overlooking the city? Wanna go there
Unfortunately, that was the top of the Notre Dame cathedral, and was sadly lost in the fire.
This is fantastic! Thank you so much!
❤️!
Do these fit OTG?
I did the tour last year. It is jaw dropping. There are not enough adjectives to describe Versailles.
Kind of a waste unless you are absolutely on a super tight budget for lenses. I added these up and basically you would be saving roughly 50 bucks instead of just getting the Anon M3 goggles which are far superior. The Anon's come with 2 lenses included, face mask included and hard case for the 2nd lense included too and comes to like 210 where when I added a 2nd lense, facemask, strap to the shadyrays i'd be paying around 160-175. To me its really not worth it to save 50 bucks on what is essentially a complete knock off of the M3 which is one of the top goggles on the market.
Do you own the Anon m3?
@@gernblanston8773 I have the m4 and my best friend has the m3. I don't notice a huge difference between them but I'd say the m4 is slightly better.
@@steveerl1443 do you own the ones in the video too?
@@gernblanston8773 not personally but a friend has them and brought them on a ski trip we went on back in January. I mean they're not horrible, but clearly a few levels below the m4s. If you're really strapped for $ then you'll get by with these, but for the extra $100 I'd go with the anons
@@steveerl1443 thanks for the reply 👍
gold tone "paint" on outside truly hideous. fabulous craftmanship for what....history too much. sad.
just heard about these for the first time. As long as the magnet holds when doing high activity sports, I think it's a great idea. I am one that has always like a variety of color lenses and wound up purchasing many different goggles and sunglasses with different tints. Bolle made a goggle where you could swap out the lenses with different colors, it was a snap in lens. It also had a small prescription lens insert that fit behind the goggle lens.
I have had magnetic lens goggles for a few years and the magnet is far better than lenses that clip in. They never fall out and the clip in lenses tend to be way more annoying to swap out. Can’t comment on these goggles in particular though.
I wanna see if I can fit this on my Maverick. It’s a 6ft bed with the tailgate down. But the payload would be 200lbs over😅💀
Not a chance…
Bed size?
How’s it? Longevity, fog, night ski/snowboard Thanks
Even with airbags that camper has no business being in the back of a 1/2 ton hahaha and he even has a bike rack too. You immediately maxed out your payload the second you lowered the camper in your bed. Every passenger, every drop of water, every bit of gear or food or BIKE you have extra on this vehicle is over the trucks payload. Some water in your tanks with 2 passengers and gear you're 1000 freaking pounds over payload man that's reckless. Whatever dealership convinced you you'd be fine was lying.
Good to see the dually only weight police are on duty
I guess we have a junior G man from the DOT here.
Did these fog up on you on at all?
Interested in this as well. Goggles look nice but if they fog up they’re worthless.
No answer to this question??
Another youtuber said that they fogged up a little at the top middle if at all and when they started going again it faded
One of the most beautiful stadium out there
Thank you.
Howdy! Love your videos. Considering a Lance 650. Are you able to use the plumbing below freezing or are you using it "dry?" I'm in Michigan and would like to use it skiing, snow shoeing etc. Wondering if I could use heating elements to allow for showers, etc.
