When I was an Elec Eng student 45 years ago, I worked for a power company for several semesters. I went out to a rural field with an old timer in the planning department to figure out where we would run a new underground service. He pulled out his dousing rods to locate the existing underground water and gas lines across this whole field. I thought he was bull5hitting me until I tried it. It absolutely works to locate buried lines (gas, electric, water). I think it's because of the "lines of flux" produced by the conduit/pipe. I used these rods many times in that job and they were always accurate. It is not supernatural, just natural science in my opinion. Whether this works for finding water or metals, I don't know, but I do know enough not to doubt the possibility.

Railroad ties have been used the past few decades as a cheap solution for retaining walls in residential homes and commercial properties. What homeowners don't realize, is that these cross ties are not only harmful to the environment, but they pose a huge health threat! Ensure they've been responsibly sourced and properly treated for residential use, particularly if you're planning to use them in a vegetable garden or close to water sources. The risk of using railroad ties, treated with creosote, a known carcinogen, primarily comes from direct contact, inhalation, or ingestion. Here are the precautions that should be used when handling railroad ties: Handling: When handling creosote treated wood, wear gloves and long sleeves and try to minimize time spent working with ties. Work in well ventilated areas and avoid working in hot conditions when vapors are most potent. Children: If children play on or around the ties they may get creosote on their skin and clothing and could subsequently ingest small amounts. Exposure to skin can cause irritation and rashes. Ingestion in small amounts while not life threatening, is a health concern. Gardens: Plants have shown only limited potential to take up creosote but some compounds have been shown to attach to roots, which could lead to elevated creosote levels on tuber vegetables. For this reason, it is advisable not to landscape with railroad ties directly in contact with vegetable gardens. Water Table: Some components of creosote are very sticky and not water soluble and will stay on the ties; however, other chemicals are water soluble and will dissolve and move with water. In areas where moisture levels are moderate, these chemicals may wash into surrounding soil with rain, but will likely decompose with time. However, in areas where the water table is very shallow or where a lot of surface water is present, there is more potential for transport of the chemicals into groundwater. For this reason, it is advisable to avoid using railroad ties for landscaping in very wet or shallow ground water areas. Disposal and Fire: Creosote treated wood should not be burned, since burning volatilizes hazardous chemicals in the smoke. One currently suggested disposal method for treated wood is in sanitary landfills. However, check with your landfill first to inquire about local policies. Another currently suggested method for disposal is burial. However, if this option is chosen it is critical to consider surface and ground water movement in your location to minimize the possibility of creosote getting into water supplies.

I absolutely agree about rainwater collection. I think it's extremely selfish of any government to demand people to drill a well that's not only expensive but probably even increases the chances of volcanos when water runs out; especially when there's suspicious underwater caves. Yo its insane just how dumb dicks can be to other men just because of jealousy.

Don’t the earth bags eventually deteriorate? All the sandbags we filled in the 2016 flood states around for about 4-5 years before falling apart. Maybe not deteriorated, but shredded and then the sand went bye bye.

Awesome videos, so if Cincinnati is 6-8” down for the base, how far do I go down for south Louisiana? Baton Rouge area, base flood level where I live is 52’, the area we are building the wall is below that, at the back end of my property behind my barn apartment. The water usually comes up where we are building 1-2x a year when the river rises. It’s only flooded my actual yard and barn 1x in history. The barn is at 52’ and the house at 54’. That was the Louisiana August 2016 flood. These are the historic crests which affect the property. Historic Crests (1) 58.56 ft on 08/13/2016 (2) 51.91 ft on 04/23/1977 (3) 50.97 ft on 04/08/1983 (4) 49.08 ft on 01/21/1993 (5) 48.40 ft on 01/29/1994 I’d say at 50’ it’s reached the top of the drop off. We used to be able to walk easily or even take the 4-wheeler down to the creek, which is private property. Back in 2018 the city dredged my creek without permission and in violation with the Louisiana river and streams act of 1973. Eventually causing all my land to just fall away. It was chiseling it out beneath our feet. They won’t take responsibility and even though I most assuredly could sue and win, I don’t have the time. My barn and the apartment above our at imminent risk of washing away. Any help you could provide would be wonderful. My brother is helping head the project. Which we begin next month. Bc of the risk to the barn he wants to start on the left of the property behind the barn at the top level. It had self terraced off right there, but due to the water rising in January it’s now washing to the right. Every time it rains land is washing out. The right side is a sheer drop of around 35-40’ from the land even with the creek.

Thank you so much. I got this idea ( I thought bc I was creative and smart😂) after the 2016 Louisiana flood. Knowing I was going to need to eventually build some kind of retaining wall. Everywhere we drove after getting back in our house there were tires. Guess what? 7 years later they are still there. We’ve picked up 25 just that we see on the way to and from school everyday. We are going to need hundreds if not a thousand or more. At least we helped clean up some of our city. Your video is the best I’ve seen on an in detail explanation of what to do when and why. One question. Tires will supposedly rise though the earth after 10 years if buried 5 feet. We are going way higher than that total, our will be terraced off, but the area does flood periodically when the river rises which is a couple times of year. Our creek is directly connected to the river. About a mile as the crow flies. How do we make sure they won’t float up?

That blue thing is not a centralizer, it is an anti-torque device. Although it does centre the submersible pump, that is not its main purpose. It is designed to keep the pump from spinning due to torque every time it starts and prevent damaging the electrical supply and discharge line.

Awesome video. I have a question for @kevingriffth598 @352ish @garsonprice3441 and another other pros. I have a situation where seasonally the water table rises higher than my basement floor. Something has definitely changed because sumps used to run only 4 months out of the year. Now there are virtually no months that the sumps do not run at all, and several months they run full time. Is it possible/feasible to drill a well for storage in a cistern (purposed for landscaping) that also serves double duty to maintain the water table below my basement? I'm planning a French drain system to manage the basement, but to have a well and cistern for landscaping that also manages basement water would be a bonus.

As for lightning … I agree that the more protection, the better, but … If you have a direct strike, your stuff is (likely) toast. As it was explained to me, a lightning bolt has already traveled *THOUSANDS OF FEET* (maybe miles) before it gets to you. It’s nothing for it to travel a few more feet to bypass your best efforts to stop it. Electricity usually follows the path of least resistance, but when you're dealing with ionized air, it really becomes unpredictable. Where your lightning protection will really help is either to shunt induced current from cloud-to-cloud lightning, or a _”near miss”_ where it strikes nearby. You might actually do better putting in a *BEEFY* grounding system for your enclosure itself.
