im listenning jpop music since 2020 principally beause of anime opening and i still love it because contrary to kpop or other pop like american pop or french pop here it's the sound and lyrics that are important, not the interpret. Zutomayo, Tuyu, yoasobi, eve are all groups were musician don't put light on them but on a narative that is brilliant. You should definitly try Masayuki Suzuki this guy is sick and a pur jazzman

One of my favorite bass-lines from 1974 may surprise you. The song is “100,000 Years” from KISS debut album 💿, “Kiss”. Just listen to it. As a bassist, Gene Simmons is very underrated. Listen to the KISS classics “Detroit Rock City” and “Ladies Room”. Gene Simmons is very much influenced by Paul McCartney of the Beatles. By the way, outstanding video! Thank you. “Hollywood Swinging” is a favorite of mine! Wild And Peaceful by Kool & The Gang is classic. 😎🔥🥇

Have you ever done vids on other Japanese music that includes bass? Hearing your thoughts on this made me wonder if you've done anything on things like Cowboy Bebop's cult classic opening theme 'TANK!'? I'd love to hear your thoughts on things like that now you've dipped your toes into JPop. As part of my sociology degree I've done papers on JPop, anime subculture and Western audiences, so if you're new to this area I could happily point you to a few starting points, but if you're already familiar I would love to hear your thoughts on this part of Japanese music and the influences it took and takes from American Jazz, Blues, etc that have distinct bass lines. 😊

Man I love your show! I think I’m a little bit older than you and I was on the circuit when Brothers Johnson first exploded onto that scene. I played backup for a group called Enchantment and we did a bunch of concerts with them and I have to tell you ,it was MAGIC! When they played he had two cerwin vegas and he ran through a bi-phase and the sound was out of this world! All the musicians would take over his side of the stage to try to figure out what he was doing ! After seeing Brothers Johnson every bass player I saw was trying to play that style.Trying to pop . Most bass players played finger style, nobody played with their thumb.he changed the whole music scene .Some times he would just spank the bass with a open hand like just whoppin it! I saw the whole bass world change in the matter of about two years! And I was lucky to see it .
