this song is so beautiful and so tied with history...to sing this in Nazi Germany was an affront to the Nazi war machine and there is a part of me that wishes this was our national anthem...we are going down a dangerous path and while I dont believe this song by itself can change whats happening, I believe that it can change how we view current events by remembering what the good people in Germany endured under hitler's rule and recognizing that could happen here if we arent really vigilant and careful. Join with me in taking to heart the thought in this song "bless my homeland forever." God knows we need those blessings now.
