The directors cut, Im not sure why he thought the basketball scenes were such a good idea. I know theres a deeper metaphorical story fukusaku wanted to tell about life for kids today (part of the reason he was so frustrated it ended up being 15+ age rated) and i guess he felt the basketball scenes were some kind of homage to how things were, or i guess, maybe how the kids wished life was like vs what it is. So the directors cut ends up being a little strange especially since only one of these flashbacks was really needed. THAT BEING SAID... the directors cut has an incredible flashback that is pivotal to one of the villainous characters back story that recontextualises her behaviour and sympathises her to the audience adding, depth, drama and brilliance to a character who was already really well portrayed. Its kind of baffling to me that it isnt in the theatrical cut when the scene is so short and so vital for her. whenever i watch this with someone they go from hating her (in a good way) to feeling sorry for her and understanding her completely. That is why I ALWAYS watch the directors cut. It is indeed the special edition even with the basketball and requiems

I’ve loved Star Trek since I was 3-4 years old, I was born in 90 so at that age it was at its height and I remember loving Picard and the enterprise and I loved the first two movies that tng made, I never got into tos or ds9 until I was older but I remember when Star Trek enterprise came out being in love with it because I loved the movie first contact and it was like a continuation of that story, I found tos in highschool on late night tv and loved it, and I found ds9 in college on Netflix and it’s amazing, I keep trying to watch voyager nowadays and it’s ok but I prefer the others. I also remember having like 10 tv channels and one of those channels aired star trek episodes every night and that’s what I watched when I was stuck without cable, I even remembered watching ds9 and voyager episodes because nothing else was on, I didn’t know much about those shows them but they felt like tng so I’d watch solo one off episodes and enjoy them. Now I just watch old trek and ocassionally lower decks because it’s as close to trek as they come these days, it’s a sad state of affairs. I’ll go give Picard season 3 a shot because of this video. Thanks man

I was on Reddit watching “The Heretic” trailer. Someone in that comment section brought up “Lair of the white worm” so I decided to look up the trailer here on CZcams. The trailer was interesting but confusing. So I looked up lair of the white worm explained. And ended up here and subscribed. The internet is wild.

Disney were naïve in thinking they could just buy Star Wars, churn out product and make it work like sludge on a conveyor belt. On paper this franchise should easily work on TV but the people behind these shows don't seem to fully understand Star Wars, or the process of making television. Just awful. In an age we're we're getting the likes of Fallout, The Boys and House of the Dragon, each franchise a mere pin drop compared to the popularity of Star Wars and yet they're all miles better on the screen, it's mindboggling Fallout in particular was a wild one for me. I was enjoying it so much, I decided to hit the blunt before watching the finale, blew my mind so much I went back and rewatched it the next day, haven't done that in perhaps 15 years, and i enjoyed it so much again still I'm planning on rewatching the whole season at some point. I've only ever done that twice, for the first seasons of True Detective and Penny Dreadful. All this for a relatively niche franchise, while most new Star Wars content feels like it was strung together by amateur writers plucked from Twitter.

Here’s some of my favorite shows of all time: Hill Street Blues Star Trek Original Series The Expanse The Prisoner Seinfeld Battlestar Galactica (re-boot) The Shield Breaking Bad Better Call Saul Hill Street Blues, in this day and age, doesn’t get the love that it still deserves- that show just changed the rules in such major ways and pretty much every dramatic series today owes to what Steven Bochco and crew set up with Hill Street.

Watched The Coffee Table last week, and man, it’s a truly effective piece, and at 90 minutes, it doesn’t waste any time. Also saw Hundreds of Beavers and just this weekend, Mars Express. Hundreds of Beavers has to be one of the funniest damn things I’ve seen in a long time, and Mars Express just blew me away with its really smart writing and absolutely gorgeous animation. Also, Rob, you mentioned The Prisoner earlier- just got the new Prisioner complete series Blu-Ray set from ViaVision/[imprint] and oh man, it’s just one hell of a set…

Lovecraft was a bit of a prude so he probably wouldn't have approved of the sexual aspects being injected into his story, but this movie captures his otherworldly horror better than most Lovecraft films. Thumbs up for me.
