Top 10 Things to do in Reykjavik in Winter!
Nice, sounds very promising. Music in itself is good, I like. Sound production could be improved for sure. Looking forward to new stuff 👏
Thank you for your comments. The band is called Iron & Ice. We just remastered the first album, so it sounds a lot better. It's in process of being released now...on all music apps.
Good work
Thank you. We're going to start a new channel just for the music.
Where can one buy this?
It's in process of being released now...on all music apps. I'll send you a link or two once the album is approved.
@@uniquelyiceland wonderful
Wow ❤
Thank you! We're working on new songs now. New album coming soon.
❤...the ancient word is "skjaldmær", right ? I'm fifty-eight years of age, and in my life I've got to know women who demonstrate such a courage in life that you can easily think them on the battlefield, carrying a shield and a sword... shield maidens exist...
I love these so much the art work is amazing
Thank you for continuing to watch our content, and liking it!
I know its easy/fast to get high quality images with AI, but there are so many inaccuracies in them aha. Nice to hear the stories anyway
I agree. It's proving very difficult to find reliable photographs from the time! 🙂
@@uniquelyiceland bwaha sure.. but I'm sure google or better prompts could help
I'm very interested in following this series of vids....I was named after him!!
Oh,so cool! And thank you Eric.
❤...I'm anxiously waiting for the WHOLE series of "Erik the Red"... please DON'T GIVE UP...❤
Thank you. Our goal is to get one part out each week. Thanks for sticking with us!
..."Uniquely Iceland"... as said, please more about Norse mythology... this simple, short way - I'm reading books about it, but such short, good videos help get to the point...
Just short videos to provide a glimpse into mythology. We'll create longer videos on some subjects. But we can't make them all :-)
...after my tiny knowledge of Loky, a mastery video about him... short and synthetic, offers a great first approach to him... thank You, "Unicly Iceland"...
More like non unique AI garbage, just delete your channel
I lived in grindavík😢 my house has cracks in it in the living room and kitchen are HUMUNGUS ones heheheh
Are you going to be able to move back?
Great video! I don't know anybody here in Iceland who celebrates American thanks giving, however :)
Many countries celebrate some sort of Thanksgiving. Celebrate a successful harvest, etc. It' funny that Americans do ask if other countries celebrate the American Thanksgiving. I think it's mostly American military personnel!
❤...now I've got why the raven is always associated to Odin... I thought the raven was only a symbol... thank You... please, more on Norse mythology...
I hadn't known either until I saw the ravens as a tattoo. I thought that there has to be more to them!
...and... can You suggest a title of a book of good old tales from Iceland ? Thank You...
I find the tales online. Yet, the last book I picked up was in a book shop in Reykjavik. It is just called Island Fairy Tales.
"Holding a Promise" ... a chilling REMINDER, that promises hold power also in death. Great tale... and, I've to think: How are we human beings in today's world ?
Today, promises are just a click away, and as easily forgotten!
"This emnity, born out of clash of wills and a fight for honor" you left out the vomit there was a LOT of vomit involved LMAO
Longer videos, less vomit, gotcha! :-) Thanks for being a part of this channel! Is there any story you would like to hear?
@@uniquelyiceland Ref the Sly would be good, who doesn't love a steampunk viking?
@@Bluebelle51 We started working on that one a month or so ago. Having issues getting the artwork style to be consistent.
@@uniquelyiceland I have no doubt that it will come together when it's ready, and I eagerly await it's arrival. You just made me so happy!!!!!!
I love the artwork, would love longer videos too
Thank you. It takes about 3 hours to produce each video minute. Trying to figure out the balance of producing shorter content frequently or producing longer content less often. We're working on Erik the Red, as six, three minute videos instead of a longer one.
@@uniquelyiceland YAY!!!! I can't wait! I appreciate your work so much, I also understand the amount of work that goes into it That's why I love it so much
Truly love seeing these Tales pop up on my subscription listing
Thank you!
Love when these stories are posted
Thank you!
There were times, when tiny families had only one cow. That cow meant milk, butter, and cheese, and therefore that cow meant food, LIFE. That cow enjoyed LOVE and GRATITUDE from the family. Hence, if that only cow got lost, the tiny family would undertake anything, to get that cow back home. To me, this is the sense of the story of Búlloka: It' a story of love and gratitude...
You're absolutely right, I love your perspective!
@@uniquelyiceland and I think old tales contain ALWAYS powerful life lessons...❤
❤...in order to capture the sense of some things, not the mind, the HEART is needed. Those things don't need to be "understood". they have to be felt. I would like to listen to the full version of this rhyme - that with the tune...thank You...
I saw a big thing around 3 meters in Iceland, but it was for a couple of seconds then it vanished. This is not the first time that I see something like this. I have the theory that mythological creatures have lived in this world for centuries and due to humans have taken most of territory they can travel between this dimension and astral dimension.
I agree with you! That's one of the mystical things that keep us looking around all the time. What will we see next?
Voted best new channel.
Thank you!
Great show
Thank you!
Great show
❤...and, most of all, I like the goddess Freyja...❤ She is the queen of the Valkyries and yes... I was missing the connection to the Shield Maidens...❤ ...tonight I've learnt a lot☺
We love her too! Maybe we should do an episode on Freya. What do you think?
@@uniquelyiceland ❤...yes!!! Absolutely! And maybe present some of the BEAUTY You showed us followers in the previous short and in the video about: " 57 Facts about Shield Maidens" ...but beware: We followers want primarily to know TRUTHS - written sources and archeology - about nordic mythology... at least I'm talking of this Marco☺
You should do Njal's saga
We're working on this Saga now. Thank you for the suggestion!
@@uniquelyiceland I would also suggest the little known Saga of "Ref the Sly" (who doesn't love a steampunk Viking?) and I look forward to Njal's Saga This made my day!
According to a tragically destroyed family tree sacred rune stone I am a patronymic Thorstein and I have been trying to translate the name all I know is it contains the family deity name Thor which means thunder and the nickname stone which is about the hammer head of Thor's goat's and his wand hammer and the stone of Thor's mother Jord the earth mother who is the deity of stone and earth and mountains and the mother of many earth spirits.
❤...if nobody says "Thank You" to You, well, I'm doing it... also lots of things about nordic sagas I didn't even figure out... to me, such things are very important...❤...and also the thing of female valor in battle... ... after all life is about a battle...❤
Thank you very much for thanking us! It's a lot of work, so it's nice to be appreciated.
Sky Lagoon was amazing
I completely agree!
❤...I have no words... never seen so much BEAUTY...❤
Thank you!
Very good..
Thanks
They found European remains and artifacts in Florida that date back 8 thousand years. White people were sailing the globe when the rest of the world was in diapers.
From my huge family or clan to you...thank you for Making a video on my auntcesor i appreciate it
Thank you for appreciating the video!
Of course you did my family a good deed by simply posting the video and I thank you for the efforts you put into it, I hope you and your kin are doing well
OMG HI HE’S YOUR ANCESTOR TOO? I’M TRYING TO WATCH THESE VIDEOS OF HIM TO FIND OTHER RELATIVES 😂😂
Really good video, needs more support to be honest
Thank you! We're working on a video about his famous father. Hope you'll like that one too.
@@uniquelyiceland I will, I don't know much bout Erik the red
Worth every penny
Couldn't agree with you more!
Great video info, nice length also.. thank you
Thank you! We'll try to make some more longer videos once in a while. Anything you'd like us to cover?
Ahhh
Just had a chance to watch this, remember some of this tale from a book I read long ago. Think the artwork works with the story, quite dark and brooding. Look forward to more, thank you from England ❤
Thank you for watching and commenting!
I thought it was bread initially.
Fallegt myndband
I could listen to this gentleman read a boring medical journal and I'd enjoy it.
When my parents visited Iceland 35 years ago, they told me that nobody in the local population used to wear swimsuits, only French or American turists did. In northern countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, but also Latvia, Lituania, Estonia, Denmark, Netherlands, Germany, Austria), nudity is simply normal.
When I visited Iceland I could see Trolls all over the landscape in the lava formations: paraedolia I believe this phenomenon is called!
Those rocky trolls are everywhere!
I read this saga some years ago. He fought for our Saxon king I believe. Love the illustrations! A man you wouldn't want to cross methinks!!
Egil and his brother Thoralf both (according to the saga) with his brother being killed King Aethalstan gave Egil a golden arm ring as recompense for the loss of his brother I just listened to the audio book last week LOL
Keep going, learning lots about your beautiful country through your tales. Hugs from south of UK x❤
Thank you so much!
So cool!!
❤...thank You for this video!
Thanks for watching!
@@uniquelyiceland ...the tiny little I know about "trolls" is that maybe they were sick people isolated from the comminity and forced by destiny to spend their all life in the wilderness... I've seen on CZcams that maybe the word "troll" comes from the root: "tri", which means "mad"... yes... who knows ?❤
It's so interesting learning about different cultures and ideas . I'm a great grandmother, but still like to learn something new every day. We all 'think' we know about other places, people, cultures etc. If only we took a little more time and effort to actually know and understand, without trying to always implement our own agenda, what a different place this world might be! Unfortunately, there will always be those power and money hungry people, who will never ever do so. Thank you again for sharing and maybe we can start a dialogue that, even if it makes a tiny difference, will eventually be worthwhile.
Love Iceland and the culture. True independent and strong people. Feel a connection although I'm Anglo-Saxon. ❤️
I know exactly how you feel!
Love these tales, watched all the Christmas ones. Could listen to your voice all day, its so relaxing. Thank you for bringing us these facinating stories ❤
Thank you for continuing to follow us! (and for enjoying what we're creating)
