Thank you for this wonderful message.
Thank you for this wonderful message.
Thank you for this wonderful message.
A joy to watch, thank you.
The day Jesus was born was in 5 B.C.E. late March to early April in a five day range in Bethlehem Ephrathah, based on the Chinese astrologers making a note of a new star in the sky and then having to translate that into the Hebrew or Roman Calendar. Before his second birthday he was in Egypt. Bethlehem, Ephrathah, lost all babies two years and younger by decree of Herod on the swords of Roman soldiers. By 11 years old Jesus was likely working as a carpenter for Roman pay in a Greek city north of Jerusalem and making probably more than the average Jewish adult, but was also working a six day work week with only Saturday off and a 10 hour to 11 hour work day with an hour break for lunch. This would imply Jesus was working 60 to 65 hours a week. At 12 years old Jesus would be a man by the standards of the day, so had Jesus as a child been working 65 hours a week and making more salary than the average Jewish adult male due to working directly for Rome, He would be not seen by the society as unusual to defy His parents on the day He declared, "Know ye not that I would be about my Father's business." Rather the surprise would be the Jewish rabbis and priests of the temple of Jerusalem to hear Jesus' business had something to do with religious aspects of their society and their temple in Jerusalem when Jesus doesn't live in the area. Jesus taught on Saturdays in various cities within Jewish temples, which means like Saul of Tarsus Jesus was a fully trained rabbi as a man in His 20s and early 30s. Finally, if you had heard someone yell out Jesus name in Galilee or Nazareth during his life time it would have been this name: Yashu'a as that is the Hebrew rendering of the English name Joshua. Moses exited the tent in the presence of Yahweh with his face glowing for having been in the presence of Shekinah Glory. The text declares Yashu'a remained in the tent. Many think that was Joshua who led the next generation into Israel or "the promised land." Isaiah 60:18 "Hamas never heard of again in the land, not utter devastation breaking the borders and proclaim the wall of Yashu'a, enter at the gate with praise." Isaiah 60:18 "c'hamas (hamas = violence) yishama (never heard of) ovd (again) be'artzech (in the land), lo (not) shadad (utter devastation) shabar (breaking) bigvulayich (the borders) vekarat (and proclaim) chovmotayich (the wall of) Yeshu'a (YahShuWeh or the Savior who came in the name of Yahweh, i.e. Joshua) ushe'arayich (enter at the gate with) halal (praise)."
The question is not what are kids asking. There is another question. There once was a pastor who had a small Indian woman in India who after having gotten saved she asked for a copy of the Holy Bible and so the pastor gave her one. The next week she returned and asked, "Where is Jesus?" The pastor tried to answer the question and yet still she asked "Where is Jesus?" The pastor tried to answer again, but then suddenly the woman opened her Bible and asked "Where is Jesus?" The pastor suddenly realized the woman had begun in Genesis and was frantic to know more about her Savior and thus was trying to ask "Where is Jesus for me to learn of Him in the Bible?" He explained to her the Old Testament and New Testament and explained Jesus shows up in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John and after the woman left he fell to his knees and prayed that he would know how to feel that way about wanting to know as much as possible about his Savior and how he could get other believers to be more like her. The question is what can adults do to make kids desire Jesus more? What can leaders of the church do to make their community in the pews desire to be closer to and understand more Jesus and finally get them wanting to share Jesus to others so they can behave just as much as that early believer behaved differently for now desiring Jesus? Just imagine what could happen if kids became like Hudson, Moody, Livingstone, and Eliot towards their own classmates. Maybe they would have "Narnia: the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe" sleepovers with pizza and milkshakes with their sixth grade classmates who don't go to church. And maybe parents wouldn't care if they had to buy chocolate peanut butter ice cream and milk to mix for ten boys all not yet teenagers as they'd realize they have a higher purpose in all this life they are living.
