Check the front subframe carefully for corrosion , Automatic transmission shifting faults are often caused by failed sensors , when replacing sensors especially the crank position sensor its worth spending extra to get genuine parts as a lot of aftermarket ones are rubbish and do not last , Generally lots of decent aftermarket spares available for the brakes suspension steering cooling and a/c as a lot of parts are Shared with the Hyundai Sonata EF/b , Replacement trim and Body panels are difficult to find , Alloy wheel finish does not last long and tatty looking wheels are common , Generally a decent car , a comfortable quiet and smooth car to drive unless you push it hard and MPG is good for the size of the car with little or no difference between 4 and 6 cylinder versions

i have the diesel an a lot of issus, Heat of diesel pump, Radlager, battery problems, a lot of small issues, and after all with 117.0000 km a total colapse of the engine, ( and it was Mazda checked everey Year!) shot car, i like it, but its not goof quality!

The fuel consumption of the V6 isn't necessarily 10l per 100kms either, I can go as low as 8l depending on how you drive or up to 15l if you put your foot down... I have owned a few of these in the past 19 years (still own one V6, which I've had since Feb 2007) so I know these cars inside out...

Got an engine with 50k on it, timing chain, oil pump chain, valve seals till now it’s ok, done 2000km since I installed the engine. In one month. Not one even a single oil consumption. I think the trick is on your maintenance. You need to know how to maintain a prince engine. True they are bad. Only where liqui moly and ceratec on my cars andthe best filters I can find and still not one single problem yet and no strange metallic noises our anything, and get rid of some restrictions and you’ll see you’ll have some fun guys. Not every bmw is for everybody

Internal Engine problems are largely due to using regular gas....premium gas is required in this engine.

Mine has the 2 litre 5-cylinder diesel, mated to a 6-speed automatic box, for some reason reviews are unaware of this model, mine has been remapped to 215 bhp up from 177 bhp of the standard car, I disagree with your analysis of this car, it drives beautifully, very stiff body, very smooth, very comfortable, and very quick, looks fantastic with the hood up or down, plus 38 mpg on average, plus I rarely see another when I'm out, so makes you feel quite special for all of the above reasons !
