I work west coast bc many years ago.this type is very dangerous worse steep slope lot planning get wood out best way safe as possible.

Thank you for the great video on showing what a ( shovel ) in Logger terms. Excavator in my Humble opinion. Can do. A lot cheaper than setting up a Tower system. The multi use shovel can do all the tasks, with one machine on smaller grades. Love it how Loggers are using the Shovel for pull of Logs and then same piece can sorting on top of the hill.

Logging used to be hard work but fun. Now everything is computerized and no thinking or common sense hardly needed. I see feller butchers hooked up this way too. No fallers needed. No hook tenders or choker setters. I miss the old days and ways.

I am wondering how Workmen's Comp views this re safety, ?? What state is this in ?
These videos were made in Washington State. Yes, we are very familiar with workman's comp and its cable effect. We have used them for more than 30 years in the Pacific Northwest
L+I/workmans comp was originated in WA state, because of the logging accidents, specifically, so yeah, they are aware of the dangers of cable logging. last I checked its around $38 per hour to L+I per employee, above and beyond what their wages might be.
Where are the chokermen, and chasers, next time no edits.
I believe that they are using electronic chokers which the operator releases at the top; Choker men still required at the bottom of the skyline to set hitches
Yeah those riggin men must be running twice as fast with this set up.

Yes, it is much faster than a skidded for certain applications. Those speeds you see in the my videos are at normal video speed. These systems in the right application can produce astounding results.

So your using a skidder on yarder ground, cool. except part of the reason its yarder ground is those 2' deep ruts created by the skidder some would call that erosion, its not just a matter of safety or production, because a yarder would be just as productive or more so with a good crew, its also a matter of what you leave behind. As far as cost effective? a dedicated single use machine (the line winch) at over $500,000 and a massive skidder to go with it. Lets not forget the safety factor when you have a 24ton machine hooked to a cable that is running over dirt and rocks.
Exactly. The ROPS system on the tigercat almost guarantees no injury. That brings down insurance costs. These ruts you speak of..... not such an issue since the skidder is already hooked to a winch, have you ever been in the woods partner?
