How do you plan your stops or trip in general as a solo world traveler ?
A very good job pf catching the vibe throughout Torornto considering your limited time constraints. I lived there until my late 20s. Now put Vancouver next on your list...especially between late spring to early Fall. When there...make the trek to Whistler... only 1 1/2 hours north.
Hey! Guy in Toronto, here!! I just discovered your channel, and I love it so much!!! :D Toronto truly has a lot to offer in terms of international foods. Heck, there was even a Burmese/Myanmar restaurant here, for a bit. Sadly, she seems to have more or less retired now... ;( But her food was truly the best!!! :D There is another Burmese/Myanmar restaurant here, too, but it's also more fusion Burmese/Indian food. Still really good, though!! I highly recommend trying the Khao Swe coconut curry noodles and green tea leaf salad, if you ever get a chance to try Burmese food!!! :D Also, somehow, I feel like it's only people in Toronto who seem to know about having Somali food here... As far as I understand, we're one of the few cities in North America where Somali food really took off and became a thing cause' of immigration etc, the other examples being Minneapolis Minnesota in the States, and I think even Ohio, too...? And Perhaps one other place there. I don't know if I remember all my information with those correctly, but I know of Minneapolis, and they actually have more Somali population than even we do, although the numbers here are quite high, too. All I'll say is, it's genuinely some of the best food from ANY cuisine I've ever had!! Oh, and you really gotta try the tea and Somali ribs, too!! (Beef, not pork!! With their culture being Muslim, and stuff. :P And that's also how I made the discovery that I like beef ribs better, anyway, tbh. :p Lol) I've subscribed!! Keep scintillating out senses with your serene content!!! <3
Ur video is terrible
Having lived 13 years in the city, it is still interesting to experience it through the senses of a visitor. Your vlog is a bit different, in that you provide us a more introspective account of your experiences. Really a good presentation! I will now have to check out some of your other submissions.
Hi Michael. Your videos have popped up on my recommendations a lot over the past year, and you have very interesting things to say. However, for the amount of content you have created and the quality of the videos your subscriber count is very low. I think a part of this could be the rehearsed nature of your presentation. I think a lot of people who watch travel content want to feel like they are there with the person in the location. Even if you are in your apartment you can get your feelings across as to what it is like to be in the city you are talking about. I think your videos would be a lot more engaging if rather than reading from something you wrote before the camera started rolling, that you gave us your opinions in a natural way. Eye contact is important, so if your eyes are mostly on your screen and only occasionally drifting our way it kills the connection a bit. Again, I like the things you have to say and the comparisons you make, but for videos that are supposed to be about the senses, some of the life is sucked out of it because of the style you have chosen.
I've gotta say, this is the most constructive piece of feedback and critique I've ever received! Thank you for this. I do already have a few videos coming up that use this format, but I will definitely keep this in mind as I create new ones!
Sorry info on Amsterdam has lots of mistakes. The canals are dug by hand in the 1600s not medieval. Amsterdam is not dry he was just lucky. (these 2 are just a few)
When you say not dry, do you mean it's usually humid? I'm sure it rains often, but I was mostly referencing the way the air feels. Where I'm from in the US, it's so humid the air, even on sunny days, can feel thick and wet
@@asenseoftravel its raining a lot but in summer its humid also when its hot your sweat can't evaporate well which makes your clothes humid also so its hard to enjoy summer at that moment. i did like the video. my comments are just to make sure that the wrong info isn't oing to live an own live. keep up the good wprk. if you come to Amsterdam again try the streetfood at the Albert Cuyp market the stroopwafel (in its traditional) form will blow you away as is other traditional food. and you can find most of the food you have shown and more and im sure its cheaper also
Thanks for your kind words about my hometown, although I am not a fan of the carnival.
I was in Frankfurt a few years back. The German tour guide told us it's pronounced.... MINE River.
You talk about it…skyscrapers, beaches, the architecture, but rarely show it.
Ah man. I feel like I have to lean Amsterdam on this one
Very nice video, enjoyed watching!
Thank you!!
Oslocat here, I think Stockholm has a bit more variety in restaurants, bars and coffee shops, more coherent architecture compared to Oslo which has a fusion of many styles which I think is a bit confusing. Oslo is quite big but the interesting places are in a rather small area, whereas in Stockholm I think larger areas give that same feel overall. I can def see that Norwegians could fall in love with Stockholm but also vice versa. We are lucky with being so close to the nature. Out of all the big metrocities I´ve been to in Europa and US I would say Paris is the most unique and perplexing one. Real stunner
I live in Oslo. My sincere compliements for making the best video ever, on youtube, about Oslo. Sharp perfect pictures of all buildings and no nonsense comments. High quality video! I will check out all your other stuff now. Looking forward to your depiction of Stockholm and Helsinki.
Thank you so much!
I enjoyed your video and visiting Toronto next week. Thanks and i subscribe
Thanks for the sub! Glad you're here

Hi! Just on foot?
Hey! Yes, all on foot. Cologne is super compact!
You didn't mention or go to Fort York. A British fort in the downtown of Toronto. On the exhibition grounds there is Scadding Cabin, a pioneer home that was moved from the Don Valley. (they predate Canada too) There is also Black Creek Pioneer Village, with many early Homes, farms/barns and an Inn. If you like History, You would also like that.
It‘s not Kolsch. It is Kölsch. 😉
Moved here 41 years ago… super stoked on what you got from this very cool city
It really is an awesome place. Can't wait to get back up there!
Mannnnn I forgot about Gangnam Style
I have a feeling a lot of people tried to lol
Old Town in Oslo is medieval, 1500 is not medieval ;)
I'll have to blame the good ole' American education system on that one 😂 we have no concept of medieval here! 100 years old is practically ancient to us
@@asenseoftravel Well, you never found it, that's my point.
@@TullaRask ah, so you're saying there's an actual medieval portion of town that I missed?
@@asenseoftravel Yup :)
@@TullaRask oof. Sounds like I need to make a return trip
Moc pěkně udělané
Děkuji!
Trinity College library is an actual working library
Gaeilge/Irish there is a significant rise amongst young people speaking the language there are pop-up Gaeltacht throughout Dublin. Where everyone is speaking Irish. This is significant because technology is actually helping the Irish regain their language. It’s taken 100 years for the Irish start decolonizing their minds.
This is great to hear! It's great to see younger generations embracing their ancestral language. There's a similar resurgence in Hawaii!
Another awesome video! I prefer Copenhagen. It’s a vibrant city and a surprisingly friendly atmosphere. I had a great week in Copenhagen. Loved walking around the city. Oslo has nice spots too such Vigeland Park. Seeing The Scream by Edvard Munch was something special and unforgettable. Oslo is also one of more expensive places I have ever been in my life.
They're very different atmospheres for sure! Oslo has a much darker, moodier vibe (but I personally preferred that)
Awesome video, pal! Loved your narrative. It’s so informative and helpful for any person. I will be visiting the city at the beginning of July. You got a new subscriber!
Thank you! I imagine you'll have a much different experience than mine weather-wise haha.
"Iffy about reindeer meat" Huh? You didnt try reindeer?? Its some of the tastiest meat in the world!
I actually did eat reindeer when I was in Sweden a couple of years ago! I think it's just an American thing, we're very conditioned to think of reindeer as Christmas/holiday icons so it feels a bit off-putting. I will say though, the reindeer I tried in Stockholm was delicious
@@asenseoftravel Well obviously sleigh reindeer pull Santas sled here too, but sleigh reindeer are not the same ones that people eat. The ones you eat live in the wild, the ones for pulling sleighs are domesticated.
Oh interesting! The more ya know haha.
Centrum is the Swedish word for city centre, keskusta in Finnish 😁
I kept seeing "Centrum" on the signs, so this is good to know!
@@asenseoftravel yeah almost all the signs are both in Finnish and Swedish in Southern part of Finland, since Swedish is our second official language
LOL... I live not far from Charlotte, NC
Whereabouts? I grew up in Greenville, SC and went to Winthrop for undergrad!
@@asenseoftravel super cool! I love Greenville, SC. I am in Fayetteville, NC, and I went to ECU (Greenville, NC) for grad school lol Going to Olso next month!
Oh I know Fayetteville! I lived in Southern Pines not far from there when I was super young. Enjoy! A lot of people turn their nose up at Oslo/think it's boring but it was personally one of my favorite cities in Scandinavia
Nice little summation!
Jack Astors has locations everywhere and yes, likely if you live here, you've been there. With respect to your comments about urbanism, I would tend to agree that Toronto does it well with its neighbourhoods, however, the suburbs do not have the infrastructure with respect to transit and roads to accommodate the population and getting anywhere in the city is generally a nightmare. I avoid that by living downtown, not something everyone can afford, and on that note, house prices and rents recently have risen to a point where few can afford to live throughout the city... which has increased homelessness, forced people out of the housing market, and trapped people into staying in their rent controlled units. All factors that have an upward pressure on prices.
Completed understood - we have the same problems even here in the Washington, DC region, which by American standards is one of the "best" in terms of the urban fabric/infrastructure. Hopefully Toronto can keep up its infrastructure with transit in the front and center!
Nicely done.
Thank you!
'a strong subway system', hahaa

Hi Matt father Jaime manrique from Santiago Chile residing at the church of the Little flower in Coral gables Florida in 1990 and we were best of friends and I find Santiago Chile to be one of the most lovable favorable places thank you Michael

My trip to Helsinki was in April, yes!
The coldest country in the World. Well Iceland has crap weather the whole year round but everyo other country is closer to the Equator.
I personally prefer the cold over the heat! You can always add layers but you can only take so many off lol
If you visit Chicago again, for deep dish pizza, you gotta go to Pequod's. That's where the locals go. Glad you enjoyed!
Good to know! I'll definitely give that a shot during my next visit. I'll never turn down a good deep dish
2 dias para quedarse en toronto es suficiente? (2 days is enought?)
Two days is enough to see the main highlights! But I would suggest between 3-5 days (¡Dos días son suficientes para ver los aspectos más destacados! Pero sugeriría entre 3 y 5 días)
Interesting video, Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video man. Showing the great parts of Toronto A lot of videos just show the same shit
I can't wait to get back there and see some of the neighborhoods and a bit more of the lakefront.
As a citizen of Helsinki I can say this is one of the best Helsinki videos I've seen. Thank you for visiting us! It's a bit different now when it's 27°C (80,6°F) and only sunshine days on end.
Thanks so much, this is a truly great compliment! I will definitely have to return one day in the summer. I was in Oslo, Norway this time last summer and it was quite warm, and I was determined to see some Nordic snow this time around
