Preston Marina & The Ribble Steam Railway (Drone Footage)
Last weekend we took a trip to Preston Marina to take drone footage of the Ribble Steam Railway and the marina.
The railway runs an hourly service from Spring to Autumn which crosses the Rail/Marina swing bridge before returning back to the station for a journey time of approximately 35 minutes.

@LondonNorthEasternRailway / Lumo / Grand Central all on the #ecml today around #Newark in the beautiful sunshine. We visited various crossings in the area including one of our favourites, Grassthorpe. Great Day!!!

Newark Flat Crossing - ECML meets Nottingham/Lincoln line

This is the UKs only flat crossing with the East Coast Mainline crossing over the Lincoln to Newark Castle line. I am yet to find anywhere public you can film this crossing from the ground, however, found a lovely spot next to the canal to send up the drone less than 50 meters away. Chapletown Tunnel - Racing a 195 to Barnsley

So we located a fabulous quiet road within 50 meters to the entrance/exit of the Chapletown Tunnel on the Barnsley line. We start with 195015 exiting the tunnel as the express to Leeds, followed by 150001 running 8 minutes late towards Chapletown. We're now equipped with our small drone to get some excellent footage of the railway. We start at Fenwick Level Crossing with a 360 view and then watch as a LNER Azuma makes its way up to York from Kings Cross. Some drone footage of a Northern Class 158 DMU arriving into Elsecar, South Yorkshire on its way to Leeds from Sheffield. The train arrives from its previous stop at Chapletown, passing a Class 195 express and makes it way towards the next stop Wombwell. Note: All footage taken in conjunction with CAA guidelines, the drone remained a safe distance from any objects and in view of the operator.

Yeah, these barriers are QUITE old. They're at least 40 years old, no question. The ones on Maritime Way crossing are in SERIOUS need of replacement ASAP. The barriers are manufactured by Tulley. The ones on Navigation Way No.1 are actually in fairly good condition for their age, so they're just fine. I say they replace the barriers at Maritime Way, and retrofit them at Lockside Road LC.
I noticed Fenwick's had a new barrier box.

This is THORPE LEVEL CROSSING as stated on the NETWORK RAIL LOCATION PLATE this crossing crosses a branch line off the ECML. JOAN CROFT LANE BRIDGE opened in 2014 it spans the ECML it is about 100 Metres North of the former JOAN CROFT LEVEL CROSSING which crossed the ECML and CLOSED in 2014 redundant following the bridge opening.

To be honest, we can barely see the number plate and we don't have time stamp on the video which would probably prevent a prosecution. He was lucky as that train was closer than we thought. Sometimes they are held at the signal there until the ECML is clear and go over it at 10mph. However, if the signal is clear they can do 30mph (estimate) despite having no barriers.
It looks like MO15 LJW but the first letter is the most unclear it could be a W
Surprised this crossing still doesn’t have barriers. Also, you should probably be careful about your hand signals, you might get in trouble.

Yeah, the Haywood crossing on the same line a few hundred meters away is a MCB with cameras. We hope they don't as it's rare but I think they will soon. This might be our favourite crossing in the area, we are spoilt with lots of them within 20 minutes of each other.
