Evolution of The Kaaba | Makkah 600 - 2030 | Future structure of Kaaba | History of Makkah
The Kaaba, located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is a highly significant structure in Islam, considered the "House of Allah" and the direction (qibla) towards which Muslims around the world pray. Its history spans several millennia, evolving through various stages:
Pre-Islamic Era
Legendary Origins: Islamic tradition holds that the Kaaba was originally built by Adam and later reconstructed by Abraham (Ibrahim) and his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as a monotheistic house of worship.
Pre-Islamic Times: Before the advent of Islam, the Kaaba was a central shrine in Mecca, housing numerous idols and serving as a focal point for various Arabian tribes.
Islamic Era
Prophet Muhammad (7th Century):
Conquest of Mecca (630 CE): When Prophet Muhammad conquered Mecca, he cleansed the Kaaba of its idols and rededicated it to the worship of one God, Allah.
First Renovation: Minor modifications were made during the Prophet’s time to maintain the structure.
Caliphate Periods (7th-13th Century):
Umayyad Caliphate: Under Caliph Abd al-Malik (685-705 CE), significant renovations were undertaken. The exterior was covered with a cloth (kiswah), a tradition that continues to this day.
Abbasid Caliphate: Additional structural modifications and repairs were made to strengthen and maintain the building.
Ottoman Period (16th-20th Century):
Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent: Major renovations and refurbishments were carried out, including the addition of a new roof and marble flooring.
19th Century: Following a flood in 1629 and subsequent damage, the structure was again rebuilt by the Ottoman authorities.
Modern Era
Saudi Rule (20th Century-Present):
King Abdulaziz (1932 onwards): The Saudi government initiated several major expansions and renovations to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims during the Hajj.
King Faisal and Successors: Expansion of the surrounding area, known as the Masjid al-Haram, to handle millions of worshippers. Modern infrastructure, including air conditioning and escalators, was introduced.
Architectural Features
Dimensions: The Kaaba is roughly a cube, measuring about 13.1 meters (43 feet) high, with sides approximately 11.03 meters (36.2 feet) by 12.86 meters (42.2 feet).
Materials: Originally made from local stone, its walls are now covered in a black silk cloth (kiswah) embroidered with gold-stitched Quranic verses.
Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad): Located in the eastern corner, this stone is an important Islamic relic believed to date back to the time of Adam and Eve.
Interior: The interior contains a marble floor and three wooden pillars supporting the roof. The space is minimalistic, reflecting its sanctity and significance.
Key Events
Flood of 1629: Caused significant damage, leading to extensive rebuilding efforts by the Ottomans.
1979 Seizure: Militants took over the Grand Mosque, leading to a siege that caused damage and prompted further security measures and renovations.
Current Status
Today, the Kaaba remains the spiritual center of Islam, attracting millions of Muslims annually during Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. Continuous improvements and expansions are undertaken by the Saudi authorities to ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims while preserving the sanctity and heritage of the site.

Wonderful walking tour of U walk Riyadh❤
What a dump Romford market now is. This once typically English market town is no longer.
Then you obviously never knew the place, there were no foreigners selling drugs and raping people, no druggies in doorways, the place was clean and the market was a busy hub. Now its a pure filth and all who live there deserve it ....ok div !!!!@ListenUp-py1qm
Muhammad? taha here u got insta? or any other socials?

I used to live in Ilford in the early 80s and moved to US/Canada 35 years ago.

Thank You for the wonderful comment.
Amazing ❤❤❤❤
❤ very nice 👍 congratulations 🎉🎉👏👏
I lived there from 19444 - 1978. anything that that you wanted to buy there was a shop for it. The last time I was there was for a family funeral over 20 years ago. What a shithole it has become. will not NOT be going back ever again.
9:16 St Thomas’s Church, used to go there when at school at Upminster in the 1960’s I ilused to live at Ingrave opposite open countryside 1956-1983, not been back there for around 3 years, seeing this brought back some memories, doubt whether I ever will return.
Thank you for your nice comment. It is lovely place and I wish you all the best
@@MuhammadAWUjjan I recently returned to the town some five days ago after 3.5 years, a few ‘sad’ changes in the King Georges Playing Fields, with a new amenities block that had a restaurant, staff wearing black with their computers, all very corporate and sad, expansion of the children’s play area and CCTV was rather chilling, managed to sit on Shenfield Common which brought back memories, the the 498 bus to Romford station and the train to London, pleased to back home sweet home.
Amazing ❤❤❤
