Moon River: Mancini's Magical Piano Waltz Played 2 Ways!
Moon River (music by Henry Mancini) opens with a flowing slightly rubato style, followed by a lilting jazz waltz treatment with a few surprise liberties by pianist/arranger @DebbieDenkeMusic . Lyrics by Johnny Mercer are added above the second version. The first version uses a simple vamp of I - vi - IV - V, while the jazzier version explores a more complex turnaround for improvisation - see if you can hear an extended sequence of chords? Moon River is a delightful and sentimental tune in 3/4 time crafted by the great song writing team of Mercer and Mancini.

That's a great choice Debbie, and of course beautifully performed! The melodies have some very similar motifs, and compliment each other so well in their feeling. On Jacky Terrasson's new record "Moving On" he blends one of the Chopin Etudes with Besame Mucho for a similar pairing. Beautiful!
