Notice the route they took compared to mine some twenty years earlier. Notice the roads with no shoulders or bike lanes. Very close to cars.
Simply amazing drama. The music the narration. Phil is a legend and should be given something in front of the world for simply being on another pedestal than ever other sports commentator. The nsusocnthe drama of the 88 tour made me a cycling fan who was missing Lemond but all in.
One of the single greatest sports commentaries ever. This should be put in gold on a record or disc. Phil was simply in the 88 tour on top of his game and no other sports commentator will ever match this drama. Liggett told a crushing story for Hampsten and an inspiring story for Delgado and rooks. The music the narration. It will never be matched in a tour. Tim Brandt was good too throughout this tour.
Great days great bicycles
Watched it all live back in the day 🇺🇸😎
The Grip 🇺🇸🥇
Delgadepeo and Stepeo Rooks were riding really well that year.
17 years ago! wow
I lived in Austin when Lance won this rainbow jersey. He wore it proudly at one of our Tuesday night races which was amazing. I got the last copy of Velo news w Lance on the cover from Freewheeling Bicycle shop which is now signed by LA himself.
Just saw your route in 1985. Similar to our ride in 1965. Bikeacrossamerica1965. It's on utube, and the book is selling on Amazon. Greetings from norm.😊
Kindly help me with a link please
A link to what??
My first Tour I watch, some of the best coverage & awesome production crew.
Comical that riders were still so resistant to aero bars after 1989.
John Tesh Synth Music was the EPO of the Era!
THE DRAMA!!!!!
A Carrera cycling cap on backwards and Delta brakes are still unequivocally more aero than anything used by Top Pro's in 2024 ! Sorry I forgot one thing to complete the areo advantage John Tesh music cranked to 11!🚴🥂
I was there. I was a cadet at the time on the USAFA cycling team.
Me acuerdo de ése tour como si fuera ayer
As good as this is, find Phil's actual live commentary at the finish, he is screaming "it's Roach it's Roach"!! Goosebumps
a pity the tour never ends in a TT anymore. i always thought the Champs-Élysées victory lap was stupid. let them fight to the end. the tour was never better than this.
Nice to see Cal Cycling get some love! Second place wasn't bad for a bunch of flatlander sea-level cyclists! Go Bears!!!!
Una carrera clásica
Quien no se acuerda dé esto
Si antes no se usaba casco
Que bonitos tour de France
Muy bonitos recuerdos con sentimiento
What of PayPal?
The best tour de france
Never understood why any other bikes were allowed in the TT sections, it comes down simply to riding your normal racing bike against the clock, there was never any need to use these specialized bikes unless you are trying to sell faster speeds which defeats the purpose of the actual race bike.
They say they are 500 miles from Huntington Beach at the Mississippi but it is really 1800 miles
I recorded this on vhs when I was 15. I bet I watched it 100 times! The voice of Phil ligget, combines with the video and the music by John tesh was so motivating! It was an amazing time. Thanks for posting this video.
Hit me up - I have all tours from 1986-1991 on DVD from these recordings with commercials edited out. epipins@gmail.com
A transcendent day in the storied tradition of the Tour.
Thank you for the very informative video!! Man I can’t stand the way you talk though! Sounds like you’re on Xanax and have cotton balls in your mouth post-op oral surgery.
I've completed 3 user research studies so far and it's been great. Even learned about some tooling that will be great for my company to look into potentially purchasing down the road.
That is great - keep on going once you hit the threshold of 10+ studies done - you will see an increase in acceptance of new studies and they will even send studies to you that fit your skill set. Once I had about 20 done - I was doing at least 5 per week. The gift card thing is wonky but I have a local Target and used it to pay for things that would normally come out of my bank account, so it was all good.
User interviews is a scam you sign up they send you all these emails that you’ve been chosen but first you have to fill out the pre-screening questions which are so personal. I can’t tell you how many I filled out and never once I’ve got chosen it’s like they totally scammed me. They asked me all the questions in the pre-screening and then they don’t need me for any interview and they don’t have to pay me. It’s a scam don’t do it!
You have to have a special skill set usually medical or tech oriented to be chosen.. I have been chosen over 50x for studies over the last two years. If you apply for a generic study - there are thousands of people applying, so it more difficult to get studies. But once you are chosen, it is imperative to be on time and professional. You are graded by your interviewer and the more positive interviews you have the more you are chosen.
@@socalrider909 I am a founder of the business. I learned every aspect of my business by teaching myself I have. I have more special skills than I ever wanted.
Nah not a scam, I'm only 2 weeks in and have completed 3 research studies. I've been paid well too.

Can i convert a giftcard to paypal??
Gift card to cash.
@@socalrider909 How do I do that?? I'm gonna receive R1700 soon worth of gift card and I want to convert it to cash. Please help
This means its through visa?
@@socalrider909 I think that's what people want to see. Not the gift cards.
Close captioned Thierry Marie translates to Jerry Murray...and that's got to be a first for him, and (Eric) Breukink translates to four different names, "Roy Keane", and "braking", and "croaking" and "broking", and Indurain translates to "in the rain"...so classy.
hi @socalrider909 i am a resident of India. I am a DevOps engineer with a graduation in CS . I filled all my details to this site but there are no studies for me. Can you help me with this. Does this website also interest south asian people to work for them or is just work in US
Sucks that this was filmed with a potato
Cause it's awesome
Sadly no 4k or high res in the 80s. Just our VHS tapes
That sharp downhill made for complete carnage during the early laps -- it became a complete wipeout of riders.
I'm considering signing up but i want cash into PayPal not gift cards so i can just get cash.
You do not dictate payment type. Gift cards can be exchanged for cash but you lose 20%
yeah BUTTT it can take a while before you get choosen. hundreds of folks apply too. you can go a long time before you actually get pick.
You are correct. But once chosen. Take it seriously. You get graded by the interviewer. Once you get many positive reviews then you get picked more often.
@@socalrider909 thank you
I’m not sure what Indurain said in the clip but I’m sure it was “I’ve got a 💩 load of EPO in my system”! 😂
Something about autographing empty syringes for the fans.
well, Indurain was/is soooo dumb that he would not have a clue what epo is/was..he was just some dumb cyclist that just happily took any pills or injections the team gave him without question
