I agree with everything you have said about the vehicle and the support once you have pulled the trigger and purchased one. I was one of the first potential customers to place a deposit but after failing to get any answers to questions I asked and finally driving one on the road I cancelled my order. I will stick with my Defender Puma and plod along for another few years…

I have no problems with all the people who buy the first vehicles that come out as the help provide feedback to the manufacture on what works and does not work. I have to say that I think Ineos did a great job for there first production model that came out as almost every manufacture always has some issues with the first two or even three years of production. As long as Ineos makes customers right and does not sit back on there sucess they will have cut a nice piece of the SUV pie which means $$$. One thing since they really don't have dealers it's EXTRMELY important that there Quality Control is probably twice the size of any other car company as that is the only real way to sale and keep there brand name..........QUALITY..............

Yes, I inquired to a Dealer in the States, and was told 11 month wait time. The Ineos is Heavy , about 6100 LBS. The steering is off Road oriented, almost 4 turns Lock to Lock. There would be special taxes here, for Carbon Footprint/Low MPG . I would want the ability to go 70 MPH. I would want Petrol , not Diesel.

This is a very stripped down version, almost base. I don't have any of the glue of finish issues. It's a true 4x4, not a shopping mall cruiser. It does what it's suppose to do and does it exceptionally well.

I really hope they bump up power on the Grenadier. There’s no reason the B57 and B58 are detuned so drastically for this vehicle when it’s heavy and meant for off roading and towing. I’m sorry you had issues. I’m in the US and have seen exactly 1 Grenadier in real life.

Thanks for the honest thoughts. There should be no compromise when buying a brand new vehicle. Fit and finish, proper specifications, dealership response/responsibility regarding warranty and complaints as well as dealer networks are all part of the high price paid for this vehicle. It’s a hard pass for me.

The problem is simply the price. Its a £40,000 car thats being sold for £70,000 but it doesnt have the attention to detail that you expect for cars over £50,000

This is what the new Defender SHOULD have been. I've owned and been a fan of the older Land Rovers for decades, but Land Rover have seriously lost their way with the thing currently wearing the Defender badge. It's been universally panned as the least reliable vehicle on the planet. Ineos CEO, Jim Ratcliff, tried to buy the tooling and rights to keep building the proper Defender, but Land Rover refused, so he built this. Even with all it's flaws as a first vehicle, it's miles better than the Defender and as a longtime Land Rover fanboy I'd much rather have the Grenadier. Anybody calling it a "pretend Defender" is just jealous because the Grenadier is still on the road whilst their Defender is in the shop again...where it'll spend the majority of its life. I think a lot of the bugs will shake out with time, as with any new-to-market vehicle. Personally, I'd really like it if they got rid of the ridiculous automatic transmission and plastic BMW shifter in favor of a proper manual transmission. It's not like BMW don't make manual transmissions for that engine. That would just make the Grenadier just about perfect for me. Well, except for the price, but I guess that's par for the course with the seemingly out-of-control prices they're asking nowadays.

Winnebago launched a great concept RV- EKKO.. even after 2.5 years, it’s haunted by quality issues.. great concept .. terrible implementation.. like terrible engineering design of support equipment.. electrical next to water pumps.. failing alternators .. dozens of recalls .. and $175,000!!!

It surprising how many people are unaware , including van drivers , of the slower LCV speeds allowed on UK roads. It also applies to N1 Pick up trucks . Its not enforced by the Police very much and how could one tell with say a discovery van as it has side windows . Interesting that the fit and finish is below par.

I live in the U.S. and went to our local dealer to buy one. After spending a few hours driving it I returned with a shocking discovery. I feel there are way better vehicles that can everything this ineos can do but more. I have some experience with the Mercedes G550 and on the used market they can be found for similar money to the ineos and thought why would I have an ineos over a G550 or other options. To my surprise the dealer took a 2020 200 series Land Cruiser in on trade for an ineos and that had me really puzzled, why would you trade that perfect Toyota for something that is unknown and not very nicely built. So I left the dealership in a 2020 Land Cruiser for a lot less than the ineos and this 200 series was always my dream vehicle to own so I can’t see why you would want the ineos. The motor is not going to be reliable, the materials used are cheap plastics and the company itself might not exist in a few years. I would rather have a G550, my 200 series or big Chevy 2500 diesel or Ram 2500 diesel before this ineos.

So this guy is just saying thst he is ignorant and didnt do his propef research, he basically said ewww shiny new truck. Buys it. Then. Complains that its not absolutly perfect for him.

Interesting you didn't mention two features which would be a red flag for me - 1. The truly appalling fuel consumption, and 2. the cramped (RHD) driver's footwell, caused by the postioning of the exhaust under the floor. (No problem with LHD vetsions apparently).

I’m an Australian owner. It does drive like a truck but that’s to be expected as it’s been made for a purpose. I bought mine before the price rise so in Australian terms I saved $30k.

Here in the US I test drove one in Pasadena, CA and it feels a lot like my Mitsubishi Montero which I have driven 250,000 miles with a lot of off roading and over soft sand dunes. It’s been an amazing and durable vehicle that never once let me down or got stuck. I want to drive to Death Valley but fear of it finally dying is real so I ordered a grenadier. The review doesn’t mention anything other than steering (which I didn’t even notice being odd during test drive) so I’ll keep my order. They say it should be ready this month which is great. I’m about 1,000,000th in line for a cybertruck so that might be a few years of waiting.

Wouldn’t waste your time with an electric one, the weight will be huge and and wait at the charging stations are getting worse. The finish you spoke about on a car of that cost is not good!
