Whether it is a ballad of love or a honky tonk beer drinking song, music reaches people. Country, blues, or rock and roll- when you pluck the strings you touch a soul. So a guitar is not just strings, and wood, and steel, it is the way the music makes you feel. Though we are amateur musicians, we enjoy making music together. We are sharing some of our favorite songs, and we will tell you a little about our guitars as well. Primarily, Dan plays rhythm guitar from his collection of 30+ guitars, and I play bass guitar, with both of us on vocals.

Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain
We performed our rendition of “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” at the Mid-Summer AMAS event in Tuscumbia last week. Dan was playing his Ibanez Stevie Vai Signature edition guitar and Carol was playing her favorite Taylor GS Koa Mini Bass, with Dan on vocals.

Is it possible to put a l r baggs anthem into a taylor a12en?
Yes, it is possible. The Anthem system includes a microphone that mounts under the top along with the pickup. I have installed the Anthem in two guitars. I love that system.

In the key of C Major, the chords for this song are C, Dm, F, and G. He may not be playing it in the same key as The Eagles do, but they are the correct chords in the key C Major for thus song.

Thanks for the video. I'm about to install the same system in the same guitar so this is a big help. I have a couple of questions, though. 1. Did you leave the saddle as it was before installation or remove some material from the bottom to compensate for the thickness of the under-saddle transducer? I would expect the transducer to add height to the saddle and that raises the action slightly. 2. My Academy 10A has top bracing located very close to the sound hole and this makes finding a secure mounting surface for the volume/tone control a little tricky. Did you encounter this situation? If so, how did you resolve it?

What i did was mark the compensate with a pencil across the entire length. The, after installing the pickup, I remeasured to see how much needed to be removed and filed/sanded that portion off. My academy had the same issue with bracing issues, but by repositioning a few degrees, I was able to satisfactorily position and mount the unit. @@caroldan10255 Perfect! Those were the two open items I wanted to confirm before breaking out the tools. For a cheap guitar (by Taylor standards, anyway] this is a very nice instrument that punches way above it's weight class...and I've been a Martin guy for more than 50 years. Thanks again.
@@caroldan10255 All done, and it sounds great. Just need to trim the tiny strip of exposed adhesive pad from the volume/tone control because of the top brace contact. Thanks for the detailed video - it saved me a bunch of "contemplation" time!

Last question I promise, new to having electric components on a guitar. with the fishman electrics on the acoustic guitar do they need to be plugged in to an amp or will the fishman system work and make some sound modifications just by putting the battery in and adjusting the dials (guessing there's a power button somewhere, not seeing this in the online lookups). I've ordered mine just waiting for it to arrive so reading and getting maybe a little bit too excited.
An amplifier or a soundboard hooked to speakers is required. Plug an RCA cable into the amp input and the other end into the guitar lower bout, and then adjust your amplifier treble and bass on the guitar as you prefer
Do you remember which series Grover tuners that you used for the upgrade?
These were the Grover “milk bottle” Roto Matic, 102V series 3+3 tuners in gold. I then purchased Ebony knobs to replace the gold ones on these tuners.
@@caroldan10255 I appreciate the information. My Daughter has the exact same guitar and I have the hardest time keeping it tuned properly. The only thing I could think of was to get some better ones.
@@robertlord5429 tuners can have an effect on that, but the strings may also have an effect on it, so be sure you are using quality strings. I always use Elixirs.

Hi I hope this isn’t a stupid question but when I change the strings I’ll push the pin in 70% of the way then pull the string up before pushing the pin all the way down. Is that an ok way to do it.

You can directly change the Baggs StagePro Element for a Baggs StagePro Anthem.... the hole is the same size. All you have to install is the Tru-Mic and plug it into the proper hole. I checked with LR Baggs and they verified it.

We were concentrating on the changes themselves and omitted playing examples. This guitar already had the LR Baggs VTC Element system so this modification of the LR Baggs Anthem system added a mounted microphone which allows for a combination of mixing the pickup and mic or only the single sound of each. Our apologies for not including the examples.
I have the Dreadnaught version MDA70WCEARSHB and the pins are not plastic but Ebony, so not sure why you noted plastic on yours. Yes, this is a lovely guitar.
