    These have got to be the easiest plants to grow from cuttings. I had a slope behind a shed that was hard to cut the grass or weeds. I cut the ivy in 8 inch lengths, and removed most of the leaves. I used a long screwdriver to make holes and inserted the cutting’s leaving 3 inches above the surface. I then watered it daily. After 2 years the area is completely filled with ivy that I have to trim it to keep it under control.

    • @GrowNewPlants
      @GrowNewPlants Před 5 dny

      Are live oaks native to where you live? If so you can always start looking for live oaks in public areas where you can collect acorns. Your best bet is to find one that is in a parking lot. That way you can get acorns as soon as they fall and before bugs get in them. As soon as you collect them do the float test and discard all others, store in a ziplock bag over winter and plant in the spring.

    Oleanders are super easy, you can propagate with almost any soil, but commercial potting soil makes keeping it moist easier. I like to leave in partial shade and water once a day, never letting the soil get dry until you have some growth. You don't need to leave any leaves on the cutting either, if you do, cut them in 1/2. You can use hard or soft wood, but right in the middle seems to work the best/fastest/durable, 3/8 to 1/2 inch soft-ish wood will yield great results (1-2 year old stems). It'll take around a month to see some action, longer if you try too early in the year.
