CNC Machined the previous welded insert to accept the new piston shape and meet the volume requirements for this build, as we will be running 99 RON Petrol. Checked the squish gap all the way around. Ported the original barrel with 2 extra auxiliary exhaust ports, ported all the transfer ports to the correct height, checked timing for every single port, adapted a scooter ignition. Finally started with the engine! Cleaned all the parts, fitted the oversized valve reeds from vforce and the intake manifold. Cleaned the crankcases, and getting it ready for paint. First parts trial just to mockup and start thinking about engine diagrams. DT125R Supermoto Modified the Airbox! Part 7

Finished the radiator bracket, test fitted all the plastics and then modified the original Airbox, ie, allowing more volume inside to the 144cc engine! No Filters inside! Fitting the rear smallest sprocket you can ever fit into a DT125R 48teeth. Finally the bike stands and its now a rolling frame so I can start now thinking about the engine! What piston did you use was it stock bore ?
Stock bore is 56mm, I used a 56,40 Wossner in this engine.
My friend used to have one with a big bore kit i think it was 180cc if i remember rightly and he used to leave my type s civic sitting while on the back wheel 😂 great bikes unfortunately like gold dust now and insurance companies dont wanna touch you because there over the 15hp limit
i think its running lean on idle, you see how it hold rpm high then lowers it.

I have had 4 Yamaha DT125R, an a YZ 250 1991 but in new condition, I would pick my best DT125R, more fun than the YZ ,the YZ was brutal ,x race bike 2 fast and heavy , plus you don’t need to wear boots with a DT R, the older gen was better than the DT X , I don’t know why they changed it

Didn't lube the rings at all used after market gaskets n seals can't of lasted long haha
Super construction, only the silicone is a pig.
I know, later on Had strip it apart due massive leaks from that silicone 🤣

thats a special locking plate I custom made. If you need one, can put it on my ebay page as I did with the front brake caliper bracket for the 300mm brake disc.

@@JLMotorsport Yes, that's what I was referring to, I have a Yamaha DT125, it's air-cooled, it's something similar to yours but with less cc
@@enzonatta2783 in europe DT125 is Liquid cooled since 1982-83. Its quite powerfull engine, and if tuned funny to ride 👌🏻

What is that inlet manifold
I have had 4 , one had a gray engine, two silver engines , a gold engine, that I skimmed top end because I blew it up, I opened power valve out full an new piston an ring , it was fast af for a 125 , faster than other 3 I had
For a road bike, and considering the age of this engine, its not too bad, but when compared to actual 2 stroke engine design MX bikes , the dt engine its a proper dinossaur 🤣
@@JLMotorsport yea I know, but the YZ has not changed much I had a 91 250 , not much has changed on them apart from the power valve system, I used to be able to get them for a few hundred quid but now they are rare an worth a couple of grand

This is called "Polisport Halo" Its made by A portuguese company "Polisport", you can find them in diferent collors and comes with really easy fit brackets, nice and simple.
Do you still remember where did you get all the bearings? Im trying to find all bearings for my dt 125 engine but only found the models for the crank bearings. I would need to replace all the transmission bearings too.
they all are generic bearings, if you strip them apart you will find the reference written on them.

Yeah, used them before in my projects, its not plug and play, simple mod you will fit them.
