    IM SO APPALLED! at ~34:00 lol did you not hear Jay Z and Pushas verses lol. You seem pretty smart but sometimes take a step back. Catch things holistically. Not everything is face value. Kanye really is a musical genius both as a producer and rapper. and he's one of the artists you'll listen to a song forever then one day it'll just hit you in a whole different light, or you'll catch something new. Let the album sit with you

  • @markk6151
    @markk6151 Před 18 dny

    i like how u are into story and narrative, thats one of my favorite aspects of kanye. He treats his whole career as one art project so each album and performance art/interview are apart of the larger story. this one is 3 act structure, and similar to the Wizard of Oz story. The death in Power is the loss of innocence into the funeral music of the interlude. Then it goes through the middle section where it acts as a dream/nightmare sequence (All of the lights to Devil in a new dress). The Runaway note is the alarm that wakes him up and he has to face reality going through his issues with intimacy then ending with him being aware of the facade of the American dream. Also, for Hell of a Life - the ending of the song is there to show that it's just him watching porn and using it to try and escape the loneliness. During the song, even when he's trying to use escapism, he can't avoid the issue of exploitation, and yeah it's sad. Then, Blame Game ending is even worse, with some borderline sadomasochism. Its for sure a psychological thriller of an album, would love to see more kanye reactions. He has a whole film released with this, as well, called Runaway, its like 30 minutes long

    This album took Ye’s production to the next level where he started to use the human voice as an instrument as he had mastered production in all other aspects. This is why you hear the distortions in the vocals but it’s to utilize them as an instrument that is unique to him as it’s his voice rather then to add an element to the vocals. So you have an homage to his production evolution as elements of his whole career are throughout the album, but then the introduction of something not done in mainstream hip-hop with the voice as an instrument which is basically like a magnus opus because where do you go from there. When tied into the concept of the album and the lyrics, you see layers on layers and that is why it was album of the decade

      @TheReactionBar Yeah but not "boom-bop" and yes, scratching is what Hip-Hop DJs do but to not know the culture any better than to know exactly what scratching is is a bit offensive. Hip-Hop saved and directed a lot of lives for us oldheads of the time. Watching people pretend to know stuff is a problem. I'm not saying you have to be a deep historian but at least have the foundational principles in order. I know yall are young and i get a kick out of watching these reactions, however, if terms like Boom Bap and scratching aren't known I'm looking with the "we don't believe you, you need more people " face. It's not glazed. No rap song at time was like this, all his expressions like man on island, my poetries deep I'll never fail, after dead presidents that represent me, all these were popularized by Nas. His album is actually thy most influential hiphop album and most of the rhyme scheme and crazy intricate bars are also going over your head, like even calling rap poetry wasn't even popularized til Nas invoked it. Ppl like Eminem and Kendrick consider him the best rapper for a reason, to really understand how good it is you'd have to analyze the lyrics a lot more, and most Gen Z mfs just don't fw these beats oddly, not you you seemed to like some of them, I personally like the boombap instrumentals more then modern styles. But nah the albums 10/10 EZ, several times over, as a personal opinion on first glance I don't blame you, but analyzing the bars, looking at this albums influence and shit, it's undeniably the best album in my opinion. That is until the next best revolutionary artist steps foot into the game, but Nas remains one of the best poets in the music game hall of fame fosho.

    • @TheReactionBar
      @TheReactionBar Před měsícem

      Well, no doubt it was an incredibly influential album for the time period it was made. But people compare it to modern influential rap which obviously had more time to evolve and say it's better. I will argue that it definitely stands up to it, great lyrics, great beats, but from my own personal music taste, I feel like there are simply better albums today. Once again, for the time period it was made in, it was incredible, but my rating is completely subjective and based on if I personally like the song. The release of the album/influence was ahead of my time, so it doesn't sit with me on a personal level. Still will admit it's genius

    This album was a game changer for hip hop. It literally set the blueprint for all that was to come after. It aint hard to tell is the best song on the album IMO. You must not have payed attention to the lyrics or didn’t understand some of them. Till this day, nobody is rapping like this. “It ain't hard to tell, I excel, then prevail The mic is contacted, I attract clientele My mic check is life or death, breathin' a sniper's breath I exhale the yellow smoke of Buddha through righteous steps Deep like The Shining, sparkle like a diamond Sneak a Uzi on the island in my army jacket linin' Hit the Earth like a comet invasion! Nas is like the Afrocentric Asian: half-man, half-amazin' 'Cause in my physical I can express through song Delete stress like Motrin, then extend strong I drink Moët with Medusa, give her shotguns in Hell From the spliff that I lift and inhale; it ain't hard to tell” My mans said he gets Medusa stoned! Oh and another thing, at the end of Blame Game, that Chris Rock part is supposed to be something that Kanye makes in his imagination, so it’s not really Kanye corrupting her, it’s what he wants to believe happens, it’s showing he’s blaming her in the end.

  • @IsThatTheBiteof1987
    @IsThatTheBiteof1987 Před měsícem

    The metaphor for Hell Of A Life is that he’s watching porn, and dreams of a life with a pornstar that he is watching, because he is so lonely. And if you notice in the chorus, he never says “Hell of a life” because he doesn’t pronounce the f at all, which means he’s actually saying “Hell of a lie” because he’s dreaming of living with this woman because he just wants to have someone to love and loves him, and at the end it kind of snaps back to reality with him masterbating, you can hear his deep breathing with the moaning of the woman on the video in the background. Also one more thing, the first three songs are reality, but then he kills himself at the end of POWER, All Of The Lights (Interlude) is like funeral music, and everything after that is just in mind, and through every song, you get deeper and deeper into it. I love this album, it’s my personal favourite, and I’ve analyzed every song, and I’ve listened to season on a podcast dedicated to analyzing this whole album (it was like 8 hours in total), so if you have any questions about any of the songs I can answer them.
