Err, this is likely the most uniformed take I’ve ever seen, they look for players with arms and players that can hit. Yes, of course they want athletes, but there are still plenty of baseball players not in peak condition, but they can hit a 96 MPH fastball, it’s a different skill set. Also most youth tournaments have serious pitch count limits.

Catchers are at a different level. They need catchers.
