Winnats Pass, Peak District | DJI FPV Freestyle | 4K HDR
Quick midweek trip up to Winnats Pass, just north of Castleton in the Peak District. In my opinion one of the best spots to fly FPV drones in the UK.
Still a little bit juddery through the turns, but not an awful effort considering this is only my second time flying in FPV manual mode after picking up the DJI FPV around a month ago. For any others new to FPV flying like myself, I couldn't recommend highly enough jumping into the deep end and trying out manual mode whilst keeping a finger on the emergency brake. Don't get me wrong, there were a few times I nearly binned it during this shoot, but fortunately managed to recover just before having to rely on the stop / hover. Getting out and practicing will only make you more confident and is so much more immersive than hours in the sim.
For anyone interested more details on how to reach this spot, drop a comment below and I'll be happy to assist. Plenty of parking nearby, but you're talking around an 800m walk to the top up a steep hillside. Would also recommend heading up midweek and early in the morning / and or at dusk in order to avoid the general public. Although pretty high and remote, the place is usually packed with walkers, cars and tourists on weekends and often results in quite a lot of undue attention, not always positive unfortunately. This was filmed around 9am on a wednesday morning in late sept, so luckily didn't see a soul. Also got quite fortunate with the weather may I add since its rather exposed and the wind if prevailing from the south affects flight as you come in/ out of the valley.
