    Textbook trim, textbook buoyancy, great viz, no current, no swell. And a teeny tiny SMB that probably isn't fully inflated unless it's popped off from over 20m, so not the easiest for a skipper/cox to see. Interesting.

    Unreal skills! After 100+ dives and many many tries, Im not even close to this. Even if I manage buoyancy, then I forget or cant stay in one place and after deployment find myself drifted off to point way off my buddy or group. It's just an incredible amount of task loading for a non-expert to manage everything perfectly like that. Thanks for sharing!

    I got it that every diver must know the importance of their SMB and know how to deploy it, but it's no rocket science. Just launch the damn thing! Unravel the buoy, connect the quick snap, ensure there is zero play and it's secure, fill with air, control your reel, snap to your BCD, and call it a day. In reality if you are below the surface or above, you must launch it to let the surface know of an emergency, boaters in the area, or practicing. All of this robotic movement is not necessary.

    • @josefranciscoduarte4083
      @josefranciscoduarte4083 Před 2 lety

      In no way an SMB deployment should be taken lightly, get yourself entangled into the line and you can get yourself killed. Snap it to the BCD and if a boat catches it, you will likely get yourself killed. An SMB is not a toy and your comment is both naive and dangerous. An SMB is not a tool for emergency only situations, it is a tool to mark your position and allow your skipper to know where you are. If you frequently boat dive you will likely be asked to deploy it.

    Actually its not done quite right. you need to hold the spool in the left hand and release it from the left hand only... keeping the right hand free (not holding anything) so as to provide gas for a unfortunately timed OoG situation. (out of gas). thats if you are doing it right ;)

      deep breathing isnt optimal from buoyancy perspective. deep breath = more gas in lungs, this change causes greater change in buoyancy than needed. also it causes more stress,,,, the point is to breathe normally like whe you chat with someone on the surface... then... you are most relaxed and in buoyancy is not actively controlled.
