13 could have had better writing

im two years late to this and this is such a small point, but-- i love how pearl reaching for stevens gem and white diamond reaching for his gem are so *similar*, shotwise. pearls hand, white on a black background, coming from the left side, and white diamonds being the total opposite, black hand white background, coming from the right.... its just really neat to see such a parallel between the shots.

I find neither the scene nor the unnecessary explanation of the scene interesting. People buy things that are available? Not an interesting insight.

I love how media demonizes powerful and hard working women.

Okay but the first joke actually was hilarious though (coming from a gayer over here) Okay, update as I'm going though this: the attack helicopter is funny to me too, but because it's absurd as shit and took a normal idea and likened it to something goofy that you wouldn't expect it to be likened to. They also go into detail about this absurd thought, the contrast of the effort it takes to write a whole paragraph about something as pointless as convincing people you are a flying metal machine being the funny part. I don't think the joke is bad or offensive, but I do believe many people who think bad and offensive opinions tend to laugh at the joke for a... different reason than mine. I also believe that people who are offended by that joke might not be secure enough in their identity to realize that if someone thinks your identity is invalid (even if they are wrong), telling them to stop making a joke isn't going to suddenly change their minds. The 9 million copies of the attack helicopter joke, however, are not funny in the slightest. Get more original transphobes :') Final thoughts: Didn't know offensive jokes made -phobes more likely to hatecrime. That's fucked and enough for me to think the censorship is justified. Of course they'd be monkey-brained enough to hear one "ha ha gay bad" then go kill somebody

What's to hate? They have good economy for Briton. Millions and millions of people go there to see the British Monarchal pomp and they bring in Billions of Dollars for them. So who cares. They make more and do more than most individuals for the country. For most people that thought of "glad handing" strangers, going to uninteresting places everyday and saying platitudes is a horrible life. Never having a moment of freedom and abandonment would be like a kind of prison. How mush joy can any of them really have. And PS just remember who you are in the world of no bodies.

I think that that scene points out that Miranda Is so demanding because is incredible good in her job. I mean, She Is not a bully that makes herself great with other job, She has total control of any detail, She does't get the merit of others ideas, because She forces others - even with disputable methods - to work and make shine her own ideas, her own view. She Is so in charge to oblige others to her standards, which She knows to be the highest possible. She wants things done in her own way because She knows her way Is the best (and objectly It Is). It's a scene to tell the audience that Miranda Is not the Devil simply because She Is evil, for the pleasure to mistreat others, but She Is so nasty because wants her team working as one person, with the same intensity she works and with the vision that She has. I think it's a scene about leadership, which must be demanding and ask for total dedication to the vision, and can't often allow itself to be kind, if there Is a target to archieve...

The finale was amazing and terrifying I miss that feeling of watching it live for the first time

This video really made me rethink my opinion of the show. I was a superman the day I first saw opal but with the final season I felt that things were rushed and it left me very disappointed. This is so similar to parent-child dynamic in real life too! I mean, it just hit me home with how birthing another being is the 'most selfless, yet the most selfish' act to do to that being - because nobody asked to be born. We may have billions of people, but it's so scary if you think of how not a single of them asked to be born. And the series is quite clear on how although the parents 'made' the child, the child is ultimately not a copy nor a property of their parent - s/he is as an individual a beings as his/her parents are, and we can't and shouldn't ask them to think and be like us, or what we think they should be ... I mean, we have way too many people who have kids without thinking, because everybody else does, or to fulfill THEIR own dreams through their kids, etc. etc. ... And a lot of the dynamics mentioned above often end up becoming quite toxic for each other, too, causing inter-genrational trauma...

Cannot tolerate the era muzak

It's utterly fascinating to me that Sugar and their crew used The Story of Menstruation as a major influence on how to convey Homeworld and White Diamond's overbearing attitude. The idea that animation can be used to convey helpful messages while laced with some seriously messed up standards on how to look and behave are certainly things that are all against the spirit of the show's messages of joyful acceptance and love. And the sheer gall of pointing out how a huge company like Disney did (and still does!) this form of clumsy social broadcast, I really love the way they brought out the art and storytelling to spin this narrative into something far more accepting and joyful. I highly recommend people watch this Disney "educational" short, it's available on youtube for free (and don't read the comments, they're absurdly queerphobic). It's fascinating how something can have some seriously good information that can be helpful, all the while seeing it shrouded with this presence of conformity and ignoring your feelings. It makes me wonder if there was a push away from that history with recent works like Turning Red or that Baymax short a couple years ago. It's sad but this sort of history makes me wonder all the time what sort of ill-meaning messages might also be sprinkled in shows that are well-meaning at a glance. Stuff like edutainment animated shorts certainly have a messy history in regards to that.

Bro, you helped explain a big reason why I loved the ending to this show...I had no idea what was going to happen, and I could have easily imagined them bringing Rose back...they had the setup, but they didn't, and I have a lot of respect for that.

The internet gaslit me into thinking the show was extremely bad "Just because the protagonist is a crybaby" when it helped me trough my mom's death. This video has helped me a lot more than I can explain. Thank you.
