Long comment, but I'm bach'in it tonight so... I once played an outdoor set at church. Some teens walked up after we finished and said, "dude - like, how do you get that SOUND ???" Which set me back a bit as I knew these guys all played "electric guitar" but I'd only played acoustic in their world. That was the first church outing for my MIM Strat w/ 57-62 reissue pups thru a reissue TS into a '72 Super Reverb (that I restored myself but hired out the electronics.) Now... those are not super highly regarded instruments per se. But for kids used to cracker box amps and very lame inexpensive FX pedals, even the "pure tone" of a second-string setup like mine was something completely new to them. That's how I personally felt tonight listening to that Dumble amp - and a fine guitar player too. But damn, that was PURE TONE (!!!) w/ nothing artificial in the chain, period. I mean... go back and listen again w/ headphones. That's simply an amazing sonic signature from masterful craftsmanship in electronica and physics, and knowledge of how to almost literally acoustically paint with the electronics, so that a guitar player can almost paint acoustically with the amp. And for the love of all that's good pure and right in this universe, OH how I'd have loved to sit in that room during the shoot. Hell... I even looked online and found a 1x12 tweedle-dee for $95K right now (06-30-24). I don't have that laying around, but if I did.... baby, AI and modeling aside, aint no more Dumble's. E - V - E - R... But thanks to these videos and some idea of which recordings have that Dumble sound, I know kinda what I'm shooting for. So ironically, but affordably, I recently picked up a few year old Valeton modeling pedal on Reverb for $250, and a brand new Champion 100 amp last month for $250. I figure that'll be a pretty flexible 'digital' platform, and I've already started downloading files for the pedal. The Dumble Sound is the first one I'm looking for 😎🎸 might even make a video... if someone could just loan me a Dumble for A/B reference...

Excellent review video! Mike Sifringer from Destruction band used to play this guitar in the early days of the band, all the 80s, even when he moved to Dean. So he’s another guitar player who played many songs and records with this guitar in his career. Gibson Flying V2 is a very interesting guitar. 👊🏻

I love John McLaughlin and Shakti, particularly aHand full of Beauty. While I never saw Shakti live, I saw El Shankar and Zakir Hussein which was a nearly transcendent experience. "While the playing in this demo was not particularly impressive, the guitar is Magnificent. I love the sound, florentine cutaway, the shape of the headstock and all the appointments. Bravo, you have crafted a world class instrument.
