Funny how all the people who are talking crap about etecs have never owned one Yes there are bad years( early2000s) that gave evinrude a bad rep but since bombardier took over in 2006 the engines are bullet proof, with a 5 year warentee and no maintainance for300 hours they are great enginesI have twin 2008 etec 75s on my 21 ft sea cat and they preform perfectly never had any issues

i don't hate cats they also have their purposes and in calm to moderate sea they are good and stable for fishing n diving with lots of space for their size cruising near the coast but i wouldn't go out with a cat n anything over Force 5 6 at most to me they are glorified coastal party boats not yet seen a cat take the rough seas like a same size mono can, on Formula 1 offshore powerboat racing unless the weather is really calm they all drop back behind the mono hulls always some cats trying to keep up with the mons flip over

This video was proven to be BS - so funny how people say its true... when a featured "independent" study is only available on the manufacturer's website should be a hint in and of itself.. notice no more of these videos with second gen 4 strokes either.. bass boats are now going to them as well.. a couple buddies of mine had etecs.. they literally all blew up.. still a grenade lol

When my dad passed I got his 1986 16' kingfisher with an 82 evenrude 75 hp sport. It sat up for almost 5 years. Put a new battery on it, Took it to Joe Pool lake in cedar hill tx put it in the water and it fired up. It ran rough at first, but after about an hour of running that Damn little motor would Shit and git. I'm seriously thinking about a 250 e-tec for my gambler.

they look great, but there is one false statement in this video: "etec engines put out more horsepower than a 4 stroke" So does that mean a 25 hp etec puts out more hp than a 25 hp 4 stroke? It seems to me that 25 hp is 25 hp.

I tried to contact Glacier Bay for power systems on Catamarans and received no response...later heard that they had gone out of business. Local Aerocat (builder) struggling to find reliable power systems...dependent on outboards for the now.

I have worked for an Evinrude and Yamaha dealer since 2004. NOW THAT I HAVE SEEN EVINRUDES PROVEN TRACK RECORD AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED EVINRUDE IS TRULY THE BEST CHOICE AVAILABLE FOR ANY OUTBOARD APPLICATION. There are so many benifits to owning an Evinrude starting with no service for 3 yrs/300 hrs. Almost every 4 Stroke will have to see a dealer 4 times before the Evinrude goes in once. They are more powerfull, fuel efficient, non smoking, self winterizing, very quiet and more reliable.

My 115hp was unreliable from about 50hrs onwards, went through 1 set of injectors & then electrical problems (ECU). After the injectors went for the 2nd time at 160hrs & warranty was up ripped the thing of & traded it in on a Honda 4 Stroke!! E-Tec basically broke down once or twice every year I had it & cost me nearly 2 months off the water each time something happened. Think there sales pitch should be "Less Time On The Water & More Time In The Workshop" - Terrible.

Just asking, from your experience with your engine the e-tec isn't all that as the commercial is making it out to be?

i liked the video until 3:10 and saw that they didnt fully rev the yamaha motor at first like how they did the evinrude. Its so obvious just look at the water. Even my 75 hp mercury moves the water more than that.
