Ride For Someone - Movember 2022
Ride for Someone
In November I’ll be riding 440+ miles or 710 km on my Druid in memory of my father, over a long weekend
Over the course of 10 years he drove over 1/4 million miles to see me & my sister, showing me what commitment, endurance & love are
I’ll be keeping the ride as off road as possible, keeping Maxxis knobblies on my Forbidden Druid & riding at a time of year when the weather could be anything & everything
I’m riding in aid of My Black Dog & Movember, two amazing charities offering support & compassion to those who need it most
The mo is returning, the training better start soon & the wider conversation around mental health has already begun
It’ll soon be a year since I lost my father to cancer & it hurts deeply. I’ve always wanted to do something for a reason I can verbalise & it’s unfortunately taken his passing to find a reason
We spend a lot of time alone when training or pursuing our endurance related goals & dreams
Please know, there are always people ready to talk if you need a shoulder to lean on

Pocket Plogging

Many of us don’t like to run with packs unless they’re necessary for storing kit & when we do, we want things as minimal/stripped back as possible After all, who wants a run with a fridge on their back? Plogging, litterpicking, picking up stuff - where do you store your finds? - bumbag, hand bag it, rucksack continually slung on & off, shoe laces, in your socks? in your hands? For me, it’s pock...

Mi piace molto la Cloudtrax,la mia preferita di On.
Thank you Great video.
Oh good on you!!! What a wonderful act of kindness❤️
I cant say i heard if them until someone told me they are waterproof in wet grass, Will defo think of buying some
Are there cheaper alternatives?
Hello, is it good for winter running? For example between +10 and -10 Celsius? I’m looking for a jacket to run in the city or parks. Also I like cross country skiing, so wondering if it’s good for these activities. Thanks
How's this a legit review if you're not out in the rain putting it to the test. All you did was repeat what their own website already says.
you cant chose the weather for the period I was sent to review it and standing underneath a shower will bead, but not allow for a run, given it wont breath as would in real world conditions. as this was shot a couple years ago, ive run in it over winters in the rain and it has breathed well against other jackets ive used and provided ample weather protection for its weight
Sorry to be a pain..can you show us how to use the pole strap again. Please 🙏. In more detail
Bought for €14.00 in charity shop.😊
well spotted & obtained!!
It's 20k MVTR not 40
Moron review
Love my Cloud Rocks!
Helpful video. I have a pretty fresh pair of Salomon Ultra Glides but wanted something with a bit longer lugs as the Ultra Glides are not very good in the muddy stuff I find around the farmers fields in the Cotswolds. Just ordered a pair of the Roclite G275 from Inov8 themselves for £81! Great if you’re not picky about the colours.
Nice jacket good quality, but I am a strong guy and that's definitely a jacket for more skinny type.. It's way to tight on the shoulders and arms.
I was wearing a UK small, I am inbetween sizes and mainly size down as ive the shoulders/chest of a medium but lack the torso length/width for a medium (Im 5ft 6"), which can leave me in a bit of a dress. Im not a skinny guy, 80+kg at my height.
Another quick question: how did you get the long straws off the bottles? I'd like to have them short like yours.
Thank you! I've run two ultras with mine already and didn't even know about some of the pockets...quick question, how do I remove the 2nd pack?
Hi James - did you have any trouble with the water bottles sliding down into the holders? Happens with mine all the time
Hi James - did you have any trouble with the water bottles sliding down into the holders? Happens with mine all the time
Thank you. That was a really helpful review. Looking forward to checking out your other ones.
How does it compare arcteryx?
what are you looking to compare?
i wear 11.5 in the adidas boost ultra and i was only able to get size 12 in the gortex boost and i have wide feet , is 12 to big
I need shoes for walking in the rain in the city. Is this it? I know they have gore-tex but those are quite more expensive and fit worse. Will my foot get soaking wet if i step in a puddle or rain drops the umbrella misses hit it?
the knit on these (there is a new Version 2 out now which I havent tried) will let rain through and not keep your feet dry, much like a running trainer.
@@jamesmackeddie can you recommend shoes for rain?
Really something that’s leather or has a waterproof membrane, ie goretex, symptechs etc
Thanks for the review.
Is that made in china?
My only misgiving is the slim fit and smock design will make it hard to put on / take off rapidly when racing / need it on fast
this one or active 4L? nice video, thanks
👊 You got this!
Cheers Tim
Does it slip on wet surfaces in the city?
All I can say is that Continental rubber doesn't last long enough. I already flattened some points of it in about 3 months and I am walking about 4 days per week / 2 hours on average. Mostly on asphalt and cement. This was hugely disappointing and I'd like to hear your suggestions on soles that do better on such surfaces.
Yeah these soles suit the earth more than the pavement for longevity
These are fantastic. So comfortable and super boost sole. I would recommend going half a size up on your normal Adidas sizes in my opinion.
I read size down? Same fit as the NMDs unlike UB where you size up
This is a great vest, it’s designed to specifically carry poles and ultra light gear. A+++🤘🏃♂️😎
It is garbage for sure.. look clean. Perform poorly
Good luck James 🤞
cheers, I'll need it
I own the GTX and non gtx and I'm having issues with the right shoe gtx version pushing against the rear of my Achilles heel I don't know if it's a defect but the left feels fine.
Hi man. great video. Im thinking of buying these as a city shoe. Here in the city there are some slush snow all the time. I know these not are the GTX version. But are these some kind of water/ rain repellent?
Great short concise review mate
didn't hear anything about water ?
Add-D-Dos!?
Nice video. I am between this and the helikon-tex Windrunner, the last one is not waterproof just water repellent.
yeah new folks getting into the active lifestyle needs to get their info straight on that. its easy to make a mistake between water resistant, water repellent, and water proof. i can say from experience when i started cycling to work and trying to build my rainproof cycling kit i failed miserably during the start because i got the water resistant pants and jackets. i thought they meant the same thing because i saw the description saying something along the lines like "good in wet or rain condition" so i assume that it'll be good for heavy rain. sometimes they admit that that its for showers or light rain but then use jargon and start blending in waterproof to confuse people lmao!!
Great review. Do you think these would be good for the Everst base camp trek ?
just bought one in tkmax for 60quid :D
You bought a light down one not a fully down one
@Ramunas Kuzminskas lol its good that you know better what I've bought ... but m8 no .. It is this exact model it was on sale for 60£
Great detailed review! I’m interested and will probably purchase, but only when I find it at 30-40% off. As is, price is a to high.
Great review, but it would be helpful to also have full body shots, to see the jacket completely and not just the top.
Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I have full photos on my website which is linked in the description box
Great advice, thanks! 👍
Were the bottles included when you bought this??
they should be
Would this be okay for trekking in the Amazon? And would it be okay oversized? Found it for an incredible bargain in a local charity shop but two sizes too big unfortunately (woman’s medium when I need woman’s Xs). I know it’s not ideal but it seems like the best thing in my meagre budget - other options are secondhand northface quest or marmot precip (although found both used in my size and the on running is too big)
Thanks, this has help me finding a new upgrade from my Inov8 Race Ultra Hydration Vest
I like the Camelbak UltraPro 4.5L vest.
Can you run in these? I need something for the range but also something I can run 10k in. Also, will the goretex version make your foot sweat in the summer as opposed to the non goretex version?
Range as in gun range? Yes, GoreTex shoes will be hotter in summer, lose most if not all breathability and really are best for using when really neeeded, rather than year round. Perosnally, I wouldnt want to run 10km in them, they wont hu/support/wrap around your foot like a trainer and id be more inclined to go for lightweight boot if thats the case. What do you need the shoe/boot to do?
@@jamesmackeddie I've have a pair of reebok all terrain craze that I initially bought for trail running once a month but started more and more to use them for camping and range days. I may just go for another trail runner instead. Thank you.
@@jamesmackeddie Basically I need it to fill 2 roles. Firstly, to go on light hikes with friends spending time on grassy surfaces in the woods and second, the occasional 5k run through the forest. Maybe once a month. I'm heavy. Maybe I would be better served going for a trail running shoe?
